I think it's only fair given their problems personally. I'm sure UEFA and the FA will be able to work things out....might cause a bit of fixture congestion at the end of the season and the teams who've already qualified for the later stages of the various competitions might be a little upset. But this is Liverpool after all so all rules are flexible. Season will restart on Saturday then (we may even do a bit better at Benfica this time around ). Bill Posted December 10, 2009 Report Share Posted December 10, 2009 CSKA Moscow could be thrown out of the Champions League after players Aleksei Berezutsky and Sergei Ignashevich tested positive for a banned substance. They failed a doping test on 3 November after the 3-3 draw at Manchester United and have been provisionally suspended. Uefa regulations state that if more than one player from the same side tests positive for banned substances, the team could be disqualified. CSKA beat Besiktas 2-1 on Tuesday to reach the last 16 ahead of Wolfsburg. The international defenders were suspended for the victory in Turkey which sealed second spot in Group B behind Manchester United and a place in the first knockout round of the Champions League. Liverpool are said to be monitoring the situation and would entertain any suggestion of their re-instatement, Manager Rafa Benitez is quoted as saying its a shame that such a high profile team are not in the Champions league Finals. Without them they would be in the relegation zone. Liverpool * Liverpool had 60% of the possession at Blackburn but mustered just two shots on target. * Liverpool's league record wthout Fernando Torres this season: P5, W1, D3, L1. That form over 15 games would put them 12th in today's table. * At this stage last season, Liverpool were top of the league with 34 points from 15 games.
