Cloud
Joey Barton's agent has confirmed Monaco are interested in the Manchester City star. The talented midfielder's future at City looks uncertain with talks over a new deal stalling. Barton is unhappy with the terms on offer and he handed in a transfer request last January. A number of clubs are monitoring Barton's situation closely, with the player having just over a year to run on his current contract. Arsenal, Middlesbrough and Manchester United have been credited with an interest in the dynamic midfielder and now Monaco have joined Barton's list of suitors. New Monaco general manager Marc Keller has shown interest in Barton after Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger recommended the midfielder to the French club. The player's agent Willie McKay revealed he has spoken to Keller about Barton and a possible switch to Stade Louis II. "I have spoken to Marc Keller about Joey and he is very keen on him," McKay told skysports.com. "Arsene Wenger has spoken highly of Joey to Marc and he is keeping tabs on him. "Joey is a top quality player and it is no surprise that top teams are interested in him." Monaco are thought to be ready to wait until next year before making a move for Barton knowing he is available on a free transfer at the end of next season, if he does not agree a new deal at Eastlands. -------------------------- Monaco say that they are willing to wait until nxt season to get him on a free!
