Matt
i found my version of Championship Manager 99/00 season the other day and gave it a go last night. Brought memories flooding back, but weirdly, there are a lot of players i used to by on that game that were virtual unknowns who have since become quite well known. For example, James Milner (or Jamie Milner in the game) was 14 and cost me 35k, but always scored a bunch. Matthew Etherington (100k) is another, from QPR back then if i remember correctly, Kennedy Bakircioglü (10k) from Hammerby, Zlatan Ibrahimović (350k).... the list goes on! I wonder if Jonas Lunden would be any good, 75k - value rising to 9.5m after signing him - bunch of goals. There are lots of others. It went the other way too, sign big names at a young age who disappeared in the real world (Reyes springs to mind) I always thought that game was good at predicting the future. If you managed any other team than Everton, the blues would win the league each time if you didnt (the owners were evertonians apparently) and if you managed Everton you spent the 1st half of the season scrapping in the bottom half of the table. One of my cousins is even mentioned in the Everton reserves in that game, though hes gone somewhere else now. Anyway, question is, from the likes of CM etc, are there any players you had signed as unknowns on the cheap who actually made it big? (Notably any prolific strikers on the cheap that we can recommend to Davey!!!)

DonKey
Igor Semjonovs is one that jumps out for me. Peter Halmosi was always quite good. Cherno Samba... Marcin Burkhardt... Klasnic was amazing... Got me thinking now, I need to dig out my old CM games and get on that again. ha ha

Ian C
I know for a fact that Louis has spent a lot of time making sure the Irish academies and schoolboy clubs are properly done in FM. Mostly because I moan at him to do it
