Question In Relation To England Internationals And Transfer Price?

Don't you think its a bit crazy that English internationals automatically command a high transfer cost just because they play for England?

 

 

When in reality no disrespect to England, the national team has struggled for a long time. Australia has had similar performances at the last two world cups. And possibly better overall considering the Asian Cup runners up place, so does that mean Australian players should be automatically such a high price on the transfer market?

 

Just seems a bit crazy to me, that all England players command high prices. Considering the English national team is not a major power at the moment, and hasn't been for a long time.

 

Lets say for example Uruguay, who is a major power at the moment. Consistent in the major competitions. Does that mean their defenders should be going for $15 million Euros +? Well one of their best defenders was sold for 6 or 8 million Euros last week.

I think it relates more to the players status as an international footballer and is not specific to individual countries. Some countries more than others I would suggest as its tougher to break into the Spanish side than the Welsh side, insofar as the Spanish side will be full of players from the top flight clubs across europe, the welsh side will have prem, championship and even league 1 players

its mental i agree...carroll and henderson for 55mill with a handful of international appearances between them..phil jones close to 20mill when he hasn't even played for england..rodwell bein touted as 20m+ and he isn't close to england..seems its english rather than internationals

I think it's partly because of the UEFA rules which say that players must be developed in the same country as the club.
