KidsCan
What will you do in 2014 to help children beat cancer?Hi Everyone,I represent Kidscan, the children’s cancer research charity based in Salford. We’re a growing charity, and that’s really thanks to our amazing supporters who take part in all kinds of events for us every year! We don’t receive government grants for our research, so whatever supporters are able to raise by taking part in events really is vital.Rather than making several threads for events which we would love you to take part in, I thought it would be better if I combined them into one! Guest Nikica
Good thread, and you're doing something I very much admire. I can't do any of that stuff, but like Matt, I will forward this on to others. Your work is very important. I'd actually like to try the run in May but I don't know if I can be in Manchester at that time - I'm based in Glasgow. We should have a collection in Glasgow at the end of December so if you see us then, please give our of our volunteers a donation!
rubecula
Really really want to do the run but my physio told me it will be a year before I can walk a mile if ever .... BUT I am determined to do a run for Cancer and I will, even if it is not this year. I can already walk 200 to 300 yards without my sticks if the ground is level :jump for joy: SO watch out watch out there is a Rubes about. See you next year KidsCan

rubecula
I am still undergoing physio but apparently I am doing well. A few more operations before I can get to anywhere near normal. (Not easy) BUT I will still look at doing a run of some sort as soon as I can. (Can manage a slow kilometer in walking now ) Matt

KidsCan
Love Golf? Why not take part in KidsCan's Annual Golf Tournament! Monday 9th June at DeVere Mottram Hall Hotel in Cheshire. De Vere Mottram Hall Championship golf course is set in 270 acres of Cheshire’s finest parkland, located one mile from the picturesque village of Prestbury, and was the host venue for the 2013 European Senior’s PGA Championship. The 7,006 yard 18-hole, Par 72 Championship golf course comprising of magnificent parkland fairways dotted with oak and beech trees and tricky, well-guarded greens is broken up into two contrasting circuits of nine. The front nine, with its impressive back-drop of the 18 Century Hall, gently rolls over meadowland and offers the golfer many chances to make a score. The back nine winds through some lush woodland and is a much more demanding test of golf. Click here to take a closer look. We start the day at 11:30am with hand-carved bacon rolls and fresh coffee, overlooking the golf course from the Thomas Suite. Then, teams will head out for 18 holes of championship golf. Awards will be given for the longest drive and nearest the pin. Finally, after a challenging afternoon on the golf course, we’ll get a chance to relax and socialise in the sun as we enjoy a traditional hog roast prepared by Mottram Hall’s talented chefs. We will round off the evening with presentations and a charity raffle. Join Kidscan in helping children diagnosed with cancer to survive and thrive.
