Very complicated but simply put...he had four of his marriages annulled, which is different from divorce in that it means that legally the marriages never happened. The Pope was in agreement on two occasions (Ann of Cleeves and Anne Boleyn) so whoever you agree with it was four at most. Bizarrly he had his marriage to Anne Boleyn annulled shortly before he had her executed for adultery, but if the wedding never happened how could she have betrayed it?
