A little boy who captured the heart of Irish soccer ace Seamus Coleman has lost his battle with a rare form of cancer.

Caolan Melaugh was just 10 weeks old when he was diagnosed with stage-four cancer – a high-risk neuroblastoma.

Brave Caolan, from Killygordon, Co Donegal, battled the illness for nearly two years.

When Irish soccer team captain and Everton player Coleman learnt of Caolan’s plight, he donated €6,000 to help pay for the little boy’s medical treatment in the US.

Caolan (2), endured a tough 18-month battle, which included chemotherapy, surgery, stem cell transplant, radiotherapy and six months of immunotherapy.

His mum and dad, Stacey and Gerard, had hoped to take him to Michigan for vital treatment, which was expected to cost more than €200,000.

  2. Translation from a HLN interview:

Griezmann won't move to Man United due to Atletico's transfer ban. There's a lot of talk that you're their priority now. On the other hand, Diego Costa, won't go to Atletico either, which would complicate things at Chelsea. What's your view on that?

"I know what's happening. But I can't tell you anything more."

You know what's happening... So something's happening.
"I know what's happening. (laughs) I know what's happening. but I will leave the talks to my agent."

He likes to do business with Man United.
"I'm the player. I will take the decisions."
You've shown that before by not following his advice.
"The most important thing is: I want to win trophies. We are now talking to THE club. As for the rest... I'm looking ahead. What I would like most is to play in the Champions League and try to win the Premier League once. Or better: a few times. That would be the most beautiful thing. That's important for my progress as a player. I don't want to stay at the same level. I want to improve and I know where I want to do that."

Do you become the £100m man?
"We'll see what happens Today you have shown Chelsea that Michy Batshuayi and you can play together. (walks oft)

Former Ghana international Stephen Appiah has revealed that a €200,000 gift enticed him to ignore a move to the Goodison Park about ten years ago.
Appiah, 36, was then at the peak of his career, featuring for Turkey giants Fenerbahçe whom he had joined from Champions League finalists Juventus in 2005.
Speaking on the Legends Night Show on GHOne TV Friday night, the retired midfielder revealed his agent had informed him of an offer from English Premier League regulars Everton.
The highly revered Appiah who had scored one beautiful strike in a 4-0 drubbing of rivals Galatasaray at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium on April 22, 2006, had moved to inform the club of his intention to accept the offer from the Toffees when the ‘unthinkable’ happened.
“Everton wanted to sign me but our president [Aziz Yıldırım] didn’t want me to go. So when I scored that goal against Galatasaray, I went to his office with my agent to tell him that we have got an offer from Everton and I wanted to go.

“He asked my agent to wait outside and he pulled out his drawer and he gave me 200,000 euros cash. That was 10 years ago,” Appiah revealed.

  4. Imagine the good fortune to have not one but two of his pieces painted on your property.

I watched a daytime episode of a tv show where four auctioneers value something and make an offer, someone bought in a banksy piece for £30k, they literally cut out a segment of a brick wall about 3 metres wide by 2 high to bring in to the show for a valuation. They turned down an offer of £240k.

The US House of Representatives has passed a healthcare bill, bringing President Trump's pledge to repeal and replace Obamacare a stride closer.

The American Health Care Act (AHCA) passed with a vote to spare, after weeks of cajoling within the Republican party to muster enough support.

I have no stake in this but I find it fascinating how quickly things can change.
