  1. Squad player for City... Could well be a starter for us. The unfortunate truth... I mean I suppose he could be total shite for us too but at least on paper he wouldn't be a squad player. Assuming, of course
  2. just watched the youtube clip. YES EFFIN PLEASE
  3. He looks like an exciting player - immediately thought if we're spending the money Johnson might be better but then again Johnson hasn't achieved very much in the PL either. I thought he was younger but I guess he's the same age as Adam Johnson...
  4. Can I just say that I am overly ecstatic to see Barkley's breakthrough season!!?? But then again I was the same way last season and was majorly disappointed when he got dropped to the reserves.
  5. "Baines was signed for 6m from Wigan". Cool story bro
  6. Heard he turned down Blackburn (and why shouldn't he) and wants to return to Feyenoord on loan or permanent. Anyone else hear about this? Wonder if they'll link us to the likes of Silva Tevez and Aguero hahaha
  7. I don't want to be a dick but I'm going to be anyway: "Should have" NOT "should of". "Would have " NOT "would of". Back on topic: The team that tore it up and got results in the second half of the season did not include Rodwell. Rodwell was part of the team that stumbled and got no results in the first half of the season. I suppose you can argue that Baines was also part of the first half team that was lacklustre but at the end of the day, Rodwell not being part of the team would have no real ill effect on the team. Yes it would be sucky if he pans out and finally reaches his potential but as people have pointed out we have plenty of cover for central mid and Fellaini and Baines as it stands right now are more central to our team than Rodwell who barely played half the games in the season.
  8. I know there's plenty of mention of him under Rodwell but figured may as well have a thread about him on its own. http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/908384-everton-leapfrog-liverpool-in-adam-johnson-loan-race So looks like we have first option through the Rodwell sale. I'd think he'd be a good option the right flank where we're a bit thin and I think he would suit us well bringing with him oodles of speed and technique down that flank.
  9. Good business indeed. I do think it would depend on what the shites decide to take for Agger - a lot of talk about Adam Johnson as part of the package for Agger. Would love Johnson in the royal blue but his wages are a bit outrageous at 70k/wk.
  10. This is actually true - he has missed some time injured but at least from the games played perspective he's done pretty well - league apprearances: 07-08: 2 08-09: 19 09-10: 26 10-11: 24 11-12: 14 I guess last season he's done really well when he did play but then he missed a good chunk of the season from a reocurring injury, so people remember that mostly?
  11. Adam Johnson would be a good signing although i am not sure if we can afford his wages
  12. we've got a good squad right now and would hate to lose Rodwell and have him turn into a world class player. we also have got plenty of depth in the centre of the park so I think we can be patient with him.
  13. No matter what happened, the way I look at it is we got the much-needed coin we needed out of that deal. No point in discussing what really went on - we may never know and it won't change a thing now. As for him donning the blue shirt again, if he's a real blue, as hafnia says he can run his contract out and join us on a free and help raise the profile of the club.
  14. This - looking at our standings in the last few seasons, you'd be hard pressed to say that we're punching above our weight. If any of these idiotic journalists have ever properly watched an Everton game (especially ones after Christmas... for the obvious) we hardly look out of place. But then again, maybe it's better this way - less expectations and we can just fly under the radar and surprise them all.
  15. Really? Shinji Kagawa is a huge upgrade. At the price he's an absolute steal. But then again, Borussia Dortmund's profit margin of 12-odd million + pounds is ridiculous especially their initial tranfer fee they paid for him (I think it was 350,000 euros?)
  16. So sick and tired of how much credibility this Baines to MANU rumour is given. How the hell do people think that Baines is A) going to be sold for next to nothing when his value is astronomically greater in terms of what he means and what he brings to this club going to sit on the bench regardless of what team, given that he has demonstrated his value as one of the elite LBs in the premiership? Does anyone else think that there's no real truth to these rumours? Most articles seem to claim that Baines will be joining united to provide cover for Evra. Really? Baines is a depth player? I can't take stories that making such ludicrous statements seriously.
  17. Seriously eh? Championship side turning down £10m is pretty ballsy.
  18. Not sure if Rodwell would make the line up? Could easily see Felli with Gibbo and Barkley or Naismith behind Jelly. I personally haven't had the chance to watch any pre-season stuff but I've been hearing that Rodwell has looked very pedestrian in games... Also Distin instead of Jags? I'd like to see: Howard Hibbert Heitinga Distin Baines Fellaini Gibson Osman Barkley Pienaar Jelavic
  19. When Wolves went down, I immediately thought Jarvis might be a good fit for Everton on the right flank. What's this about him playing left? I'm sure he can being a winger and all but I'm pretty sure he primarily plays on the right. Anyway, looks like Fulham are after him at the moment: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/fulham/9448068/Fulham-manager-Martin-Jol-makes-bids-for-Wolves-winger-Matt-Jarvis-and-Huddersfields-Jordan-Rhodes.html Wolves can't be serious asking 10m for him!?
  20. I really hated the look of the kit, especially because of the sleeves on the short. But recently the sleeve have really grown on me. Oddly... I'm off to Thailand soon so maybe I'll get one there (hopefully for cheaper). I don't really feel bad buying a rip off or a cheaper shirt (for whatever reason) since shirt sales go directly to kitbag not Everton.
  21. How much did we even get from those loan deals anyway?

    Hello

ahahaha there's a name I haven't heard in a very long time! I didn't really care for him very much but was a bonus because I remember scanning the Everton roster for the first time and seeing a Canadian on the roster. I guess that's when I knew it was destiny.

    Hello

Hi there, Everton fan from Canada. Been an Everton fan since 2002. Sad to say the initial reason for following them was because of Shrek (Rooney)... At the time I was young enough to be caught up in all the hype of the teenage wonder that was Rooney and had never had a favourite team. But even when he left for Man U the blue virus had spread and there was no turning back. Once you go blue you never... huh? Ha ha Kind of odd because I've never even been to Goodison let alone Liverpool... One day though. As much as I'd love to see a new stadium I'd love for Goodsion to remain for my own selfish reason for visitng it one day. Anyway, looking forward to all the toffee talk to come! COYB!
  24. For all North American leagues, the wages are publicly released. For instance, you see what an NHL (hockey) player would make in a given year. Terms are disclosed as the total sum of the contract and number of years. (eg. $110m for 14 years Shea Weber received recently - $14m first two years, $12m third and fourth year and so on...) Even when it comes to the MLS there's a spreadsheet published of what each players' salary is. So I don't see why it couldn't work for the European football leagues.
