i might get strung up for this, but would anybody be tempted to throw VDM a life line on thursday? give him from the start. "go out there and show what your made of andy! and we'll see if your still employed in a couple of hours time!"

an insight into our little spanish genius (purely for the english speaking metalist fans)
from the Telegraphs Henry Winter.
Like sunshine on a rainy day, Mikel Arteta can brighten up the poorest of games, and the Spanish midfielder guided Everton to fifth in the Premier League with a master-class in the art of moving the ball elegantly around a football pitch. After his corner helped create Joleon Lescott's first, Arteta conjured up a goal for Steven Pienaar with a pass so cunningly disguised it almost came with fake beard and glasses.
Now recovered from his ankle injury, Arteta was welcomed back with sustained applause before kick-off and an intensified ovation as he departed, huge swathes of Goodison Park standing to salute the play-maker with No 6 on his back and magic in his boots. A Spanish flag was waved proudly in the directors' box.
It was all over, bar the shouting of Arteta's name to the roof-tops as he came off.
dont underestimate what he CAN do to your team on thursday

if he can do so much with limited space, what could he do with a full pitch to play with?
i think people forget he was brought here to play in the middle anyway
-
Ye at lest you dont get blown up by terroists on the Tube. Only Messing. Yes do get the Virgin Train.
real clever that, muppet!
-
id love arteta to play in the middle, but with our current squad it wouldnt benefit us. if we were to compare him to the job fabregas does, but then arsenal have a stronger squad

if alonso went to ferarri that would be interesting. if he struggles with a rookie next to him, how would he be with the ice man? this season seems to have really shook alonso. hopefully next year ferarri will get the car right from the start (which they've not done for a while) and rikkonen, alonso and hamilton can really get the competition exciting
