  1. There are good and bad points on both sides. McCarthey - Arguably is the better at defending. He had more blocks, clearances than Fellaini this season. Fellaini - better at attack and when the ball is forward is good at passing. Felli played well this season. McCarthey is a bit like Gibbo I think good passer. We will see what happens anyway, if McCarthey came to Everton I would welcome him anyway :-)
  2. We would need funds first, McCarthy is going to cost us 10mil unless he has a relase clause in his contract that only Martinez and Whelan no about.
  3. So Martinez is Evertons next manager - what are your thoughts in a one word answer?
  4. So now that Martinez is appointed who will be his first signing? Alcaraz? Be interesting to see what he comes out with when he has a press conference and whether he is thinking about any Wigan players.
  5. Anybody searched Alcaraz on wikipedia? Alcaraz won the 2013 FA Cup, featuring the full 90 minutes in the 1–0 upset against Manchester City.[10] However, only three days later, with him on the pitch again, Wigan were relegated from the top division following a 1–4 defeat at Arsenal.[11] On June 4th he was strongly linked to Everton FC, it's said that Alcaraz is interested as he like a Greggs and enjoys getting his fingers wet and has been recommended the Black Horse. He has also said he will perform the Wigan Wiggle in there, only of everyone breaks a leg and wears a Ali Al Habsi face mask. WTF!? Haha
  6. When everyone was going on about Gibbo I was defending him. I thought he was a good player for United just he didn't feature in their plans. I always admired Gibbo, but I agree a lot of people on here were wanting him to be hung out to dry before he kicked a ball for Everton. Then we he signed everybody opinions changed. I do agree that you can't judge a player by what people say about them. I just don't rate Alcaraz, he seems to be without a head at times and if you watch the Wigan games he likes to blame other players for the goals and by the end of the season he wasn't bothered if they conceeded.
  7. Heitinga will go for 5-7mil. I hope Monnaco come in and say yeah Heitinga is young, why don't we bid 15mil for Evra and 15mil for Hetinga.
  8. I don't think he will sign for us if he knew he wouldn't get a chance. When Martinez is appointed and if we do sign him then I fear for us as Martinez likes Alcaraz (Even though he is garbage)
  9. I reckoned it was going to be just short of a month we would name our manager. He has my full support, wish him the best of luck at our great club :-)
  10. Hetinga isn't a bad player though. It is his attitude that I don't like. A player can't go from being player of the season to not playing this season and besides wouldn't you be a bit rusty if you hadn't played very much. Your confidence would go and everything.
  11. I reckon Moyes should leave us a parting gift and give us 20mil for him. If he goes for 10mil then I will be gutted.
  12. We could have him as cover but if we do get Martinez (which is basically a certain now but just waiting for an annoucement) then I can see him playing him above Distin or Heit becasue he likes him as a player. Ok he is on a free transfer and his wage will probably only be 15-20k at the most. As Wigan highest earner is Al Habsi on 25k. Still people can't forget that if he was that good of a defender. 1) Wigan would have done everything to try and make him sign a new contract. 2) Wigan wouldn't of got relegated. 3) We wouldn't be getting him on a free instead we would have to pay. Just don't see him fitting into the Everton team.
  13. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-transfers-antolin-alcaraz-set-1931905 "The Spaniard will move swiftly to secure the services of his trusted centre-half Antolin Alcaraz, whose arrival will help him switch Everton to a 3-5-2 formation. The 30-year-old Paraguay international, available on a free transfer, is a certain Toffees signing". ------------------------------------ No, No, No and No. If we got him would he play, because I don't think he will get ahead of Jags, Distin, Heitinga.
  14. Do you not think that Chelsea will give Torres one more season to prove himself as he is just about starting to find his feet again.
  15. I totally agree with you here. It was the same story with Sturridge, I believe if he was there he could have got more goals than Torres. He is a good player the only thing I don't like about him is he is quite selfish at times but he is young and will learn. Same with Lukaku, he might be banging the goals in at WBA but if Chelsea buy a big name player then he might as well pick which seat he is wanting on the bench and make it is home ;-)
  16. You beat me to it Romey 1878. You must have been reading the BBC gossip column as well ;-).
  17. Wigan best winger was Di Santo...... And he is shit. Rather keep Naismith.
  18. Alcaraz is garbage! Don't get him only because he is on a free! I would rather we get Danny Simpson on a free than him!
  19. It isn't an excuse either but I do think the FA cup had a big impact on Wigan survival. If they hadn't of been in the final then maybe it would have been a different story. They played there socks off against City and played really well. I know these are footballers who get paid 20k wages but still if you played like you did against City for 90 minutes there is bound to be some sore legs. Would we be considering Martinez if he kept Wigan up but didn't win the FA cup?
  20. Didn't he try and play the offside trap in the Arsenal game? Which is never good to play against Arsenal with the likes of Walcott and Chamberlain on the wings who could outpace any defenders.
  21. Everyone who looks at Martinez is just thinking about well they got relegated and is a fan of Everton who only watch Everton games and not any others and when MOTD comes on they don't take a notice until Everton are on. Martinez is an obvious choice, maybe he didn't reinvest in his team but his tactic is attack is the greatest form of defence. With our defenders I don't think we will have a problem. He has managed another team except for Wigan and did quite well. Anyway, anybody who has Stubbs and Weir in the back room staff can't be half bad in defence right? Moyes and Martinez are different in form of tactics. Moyes likes to concentrate on defending, whilst Martinez is a man of attack. Jags and Distin won't forget what Moyes has taught them and they are so much better than Wigan defenders. Anyway when Martinez is appointed as manager he will have my full backing.
  22. Yours isn't it MikeO If you resign from a job but go to somewhere you have either worked for (I.e. Outsourcing) or a competitor who has poached you then you are entitled to compensation. As there was time left on his contract and he has come to us who we have poached as we know he still has time left on his contract plus we were a competitor in the league. Wigan are entitled to compensation. 1.5mil for Martinez, go on then :-)
  23. I've got fed up of reading the bickering going on. It is a forum everybody has opinions, it doesn't matter if you don't agree with it or not. Blueboy has his opinion and Avinalaff has his, simples!
  24. What and pay over the odd prices for championship players?? It is true what Harry Redknapp said earlier on in the season if the players were that good then they wouldn't be in the championship and got relegated. Simples. There is probably 1 player who I would like from Wigan and that is McCarthey. Nobody else thank you.
