    Man City

The decision that infuriated me the most wasn't the penalty or Milner, it was Hart pushing a City defender into Barkley on one of our corners and winning a free kick for it. I knew it was going to happen somehow but these decisions are still completely baffling. It's happened in almost every recent game to almost every one of our players but most often to Jags, Distin, Fellaini, Anichebe and now Barkley. I'm sure Lukaku will get penalised for it soon. The unspoken (and completely made up) rule that you can't stand your ground attacking a corner has completely disadvantaged us when we have tall and strong players who can outjump and outmuscle the teams with shorter players. The refs simply won't let us use our physical advantage and Fellaini used to get penalised all the time for simply being bigger than his opponents.
  2. Sturridge knew it hit his arm and still ran away celebrating. Later in the game a Sunderland player handballed and confessed to the ref, bringing the ball back when his team was 2-1 down. Really shows the different mentality between the two sides.
  3. Great work. The difference is in the colour contrast of the scroll and the shield. The official version is the same colour which is ridiculous, might as well just make a fatter shield.
  4. I was reading comments by Martinez before the game about how much we shouldn't underestimate Fulham, field our best team possible, etc. In the end we didn't do either, we treated it as a training game like that cup in the U.S over summer. So I don't think we really wanted a win. Our best players should be able to play 2 games in a week, they shouldn't need to be rested, and with the likes of Barkeley, Barry and Baines I feel we would have had a better chance at clinching this one.
  5. This choice is as good as a choice of two incompetent prime ministers. It's really no choice at all. As long as the crest is viewed by the board and the designers as a combination of "elements", the final design won't be acceptable. It needs to be more than that, like an actual design instead of throwing all the favored elements together. Consulting the public isn't just about asking us about what elements we want, and then giving three barely differing arrangements to choose from. How could someone employed as a communications director not realise this?
  6. The banner beneath the 1st one needs to be a different colour, otherwise from a distance it looks like the bloated shield from the current crest. White background with blue text would work well, I think. Or perhaps some yellow, since the board seems to like it so much.
  7. If I had to vote it would be the 1st. I like the 3rd but it looks cheap. The "wrap-around" effect on the Everton below the tower looks like something from clipart in Windows 95. All of them are better than the current logo however, and I still haven't seen any fan-made logos I prefer to these three, despite everyone claiming otherwise.
  8. When was the FA Cup final? May? A week doesn't give much chance to get yourself out of relegation even if the Wigan players were instilled with the mentality of Olympians.
  9. Espn has 3 Everton players in their TOTW. Barry, Coleman and Naismith. http://espnfc.com/columns/story/_/id/1554025/premier-league-team-weekend-september-15-2013?cc=3436 Although, one of the panel picked Howard which is a bit baffling.
  10. Great post. Not everything that is done with the ball needs to be done to score goals. All the passing around at the back has a purpose - to keep the defensive structure intact. Last season we had a lot of goals scored against us on the counter, and a lot of the time it was from being out of position at the back or because we played risky balls and they got intercepted. I haven't made my mind up on Martinez yet but maybe the goals will come when our feel for this style gets better. 2 clean sheets is a positive result (sounding like Martinez here!). I disagree with whoever said that Martinez's style is attacking, exciting football. It's not. It's going to be boring at times when only the safe passes are made, and a lot the passing is going to be for defensive reasons as much as attacking. That is still better than hoofball.
  11. I hated choosing which was my favourite logo between the likes of McDonalds, Nike and DKNY. Not appropriate for a 125 year old football club.
  12. Fellaini had the most impact, just in front of Barkley. I can't understand why so many are okay with selling him. We would be a shambles. In addition to his physical presence, today he made the smartest passes and got the ball moving forward quicker than any other player.
  13. I would have liked to see our first half team with Kone instead of Jela. He can work in tight spaces and get the ball back to others, at least. Jela just seems totally out of sync with the rest of the team.
  14. New user from Melbourne here too! Been supporting the team for about 10 years but only watching on a regular basis for the last 3. I've visited quite a few Everton forums and found a few of them to be vulgar and unpleasant but this one seems to be great so I decided to join up. Looking forward to joining in the discussions.
  15. I agree with this. There's a trend nowadays for cartoonish rendering of realistic looking things in logos, crests etc. But who knows when that will go out of date? We can have a cartoony looking realistic tower or a realistic looking cartoony tower, or a cartoony looking cartoony tower. What matters is what looks best, and I think that's the thin tower with the stairs. Realistic or not, the fat tower is just ugly to me.
