Many players are late developers, someone obviously see's something in him to want to sign him. He's one for the future according to Roberto's interview so won't count has one of the 2 or 3 first team players needed.

Give the man a chance and make a judgement 6-12 months down the line to see if he's progressing or is as bad as some folk here think he is.

If he has only one year left on his contract seems daft Barca would sign him and not able to play him till January when they can just wait another 6 months and get him for nowt.

 

Ossie Ardiles, Ricky Villa , Carlos Tevez , Pablo Zabletta and Javier Mascherano spring to mind without having to think about it

Lets hope we have better luck than signing Argentinian strikers like Denis Stracqualursi.

Many teams won't sell till they have a replacement etc, as said above they are close to signing a replacement ,maybe when that is done things can happen.

If Roberto is happy with certain positions he may want yo use most of his budget on Yarmolenko etc. Several scenarios like that will be playing out. Not as easy as Championship manager etc.

Not saying that but would be a useful player to have with permiership experience that can play centre half and midfield.

Good player and young enough for it to be seen as an investment.

Good player can be the centre half cover as well if stones stays and cover for Barry, who has staretd the season well but may not keep the form up all season.

I can see McGeady going to Celtic if they qualify for champs league and us signing Lennon. Patto may be possible but may be too risky

Where does McGeady play then if he's not a winger?, may not have impressed in his time at Goodison but is a winger, and still at Everton unless Chelsea are buying him as their new team doctor.

Probably won't stop Chelsea or anyone else bidding but will give an idea on how much Everton need money if they turn down 40m or higher.

Austin is pretty much at the peak of his powers at 26, and has scored over 200 career goals already so is a natural goal scorer, he's more of a penalty box predator than lukaku who prefers to run at players so it could work playing both of them.

It will probably mean a change of system and could negate the need for the number 10, as long as we can keep the wingers fit and healthy to provide service.

The transfer fee of £15m will be the issue as it's going to be invested in what he can do for the club it's unlikely they'll get the money back if they sell him on in 2-3 years.

It's not vastly different, not like chelsea offering £20m for stomes and |Everton wanting over £34m, and United 2 for 1 offer for Baines and Feillani.

He'll be a good signing, and if stones goes another such as Evans will come in.

Poor Arry's maths ain't so good he's been here 2 1/2 years, best deal for both clubs would be for chelsea to sign now and loan him back for the year, unless he rotates with Terry or they play a back 3?

Lennon would be good squad player works hard, still need a centre back as cover regardless to what happens and maybe up front can get someone like Hinda who can play the 10 and a strikers role.

Could cover the No10 and back up striker roles so wouldnt be bad signing for a couple of years.

I see two ways of looking at the poor season last year, europa cup games on thursday and players tired after the world cup could be one reason

the other is other teams now know the way Everton play under Martinez and were able to adapt styles so Robertos tactics wern;t as effective.

Or a combination of both.

Essentially we have a settle squad a couple of additions and hopefully 2-3 more to come, I'm happy with the first 11 , maybe the number 10 would be the only addition we need, but we do need an experienced back up centre back and a striker to cover / play alongside Lukaku, I have a feeling Lukaku will come good this season and score for fun so he may well be offski this time next year so getting someone else in that knows the team/style is important.

I doubt if teams outside of the Uk would pay so much for him.

with the foreign players rule in europe chelsea united etc will be willing to pay more for him.

Not that Barcelona could sign him just now becuse of signing ban.

If Everton took players some players as part exchange how would that effect Barnsleys 20% cut?

Good solid defender but with no sell on value, definitley better options out there. We need to get a backup sooner rather than later though whether Stones leaves or not.
