I think we did seriously miss Phil yesterday. As much as I like Hitzlsperger for all of his brains and attacking qualities, he has always lacked a certain toughness. Phil's got the toughness and plays a no-nonsense game. He just isn't very pretty with it. But Neville can really take charge of a game, as a captain, which Hitzlsperger never reeeaaally did for Stuttgart.
I feel like Neville just looks like a passenger, more so than he actually is, sometimes.
your feeling wrong then, what does he do honestly other than shout and point and pass the ball sidewards and thats if it gets to an everton player, cant tackle, he's slow, backs off players untill there at the edge of the box then gives a freekick away of all places. im awaiting the day he retires
-
you actually want him we dont need defenders in numbers we need some decent bloody starting players if we want to push on, a load of average players wont win you nothing you need watch winners. whats some old, probably slow player ( we seem to like slow players get some in with pace ffs) going to do to our squad.
-
when people say mint what a full manc word and swagger
-
not going to happen
-
take the win but in all fairness we are not good enough that was a poor bolton side and we still cant seem to pass the ball on the floor, moyes tactics are on sunday league level, he in no way won us that game with that sub he brought johnny on so we didnt concede and everyone knows that.
made up for johnny could have been captain at one point but now looks like he will be gone soon
-
were a fucking embarresment, people may love moyes's way of things but one thing i will tell you we will never play football how it is meant to be played with jagielka lumping 20 hoofs everygame to the other team, its a joke that moyes has never stopped this, he has his good things but ffs he looks clueless as a manager at times.
to think we are aiming for 4th shows how in dreamland we all are.
-
why has no one mentioned the passenger phil neville worst player in the league totally fucking clueless on the ball doesnt tackle or play a forward pass how he gets defended i dont no challenge anyone to tell me a player he's better than.
naismith shouldnt be in this league too.
coleman was top draw tho what a bargain finally someone with some composure cough cough jagielka, great defender terrible passer
4th is slipping away we need to win these games.
-
the thing is everton dont hide the fact there skint so whenever we do get a good player we always look ready to cash in. people need to look at arsenal always had a decent team but whenever they get a good player they end up selling them to balance there books whatever you want to call it but they have been no where near the top because of this point if we sold like likes of fellaini baines or pienaar we wouldnt be the same team no where near and not only that the players you do go in for there prices go up so you never end up getting anywhere, liverpool and carrol, newcastle knew liverpool had money and made them panic buy who ever belives we will get 3 players in who are good enough to improve are best 11 with fellaini going out need to think again if he does want to go in the end let him but at the moment he doesnt and if anyone does want him personally wouldnt accept a penny less than 35million
-
Hows Distyn never played for a Madrid or Utd? Fuck me the lad is 35 and has the pace of a 20 year old!!! never injured, a lefty, good looking, top top player.

Everton almost always does well against the big teams. (cant believe im refering to Chelsea as a big team) There is a chance of an upset and it would be an upset if Everton won. But its not impossible.
If the four defenders tighten up. We could get a few breaks to score on. I want Jelavic on the pitch for this game, we all know what he can do and he is getting into good positions. Im all for dropping him for a couple of games, just not this one.
I dont want Heitinga on the pitch. Absolutely not with Distin and Jags in a 3 CB situation with 2 wing backs. We cant be messing about now with our line up.
We need Neville to have a good game. Hopefully in the middle of the field (!) just for some stability and experience.
im going to remember that line after the game alot of people may agree but imo playing a youngster gives u more than neville in midfield for the fact that other than shouting and playing a few 5 yard passes he doesnt offer anything you really need but i will say im wrong if he plays well.
-
What's so bad about Hitzlsperger? I think he's done well. Has demonstrated his passing ability and won possession a fair bit.
he is good at passing and tackling but him an neville combined would be a terrible idea imo
-
Hoping Coleman is able to play. This Jags at rb deal is tough to take. I would like to see:
Howard
Coleman Jags Distin Baines
Osman Neville Hitzlsperger Pienaar
Jelavic Anichebe
OR (with no Coleman):
Howard
Neville Jags Distin Baines
Pienaar Osman Hitzlsperger Oviedo
Barkley
Jelavic
thats got to be the worst central midfield combination in the league how were forth in this league with players like them around the first 11 is mad its bad enough playing 1 of them there just not mobile enough and stand off all the time at home thats really what not to do,
pienaar should be in the middle if oviedo plays imo just to keep the ball and thread it through on the floor it would be a lightweight midfield of osman pienaar and barkley but imo it would be better to play that and pass it rather than battle all game with a team looking for a fight away from home.
-
everyone needs to realise if he does go we wont be getting anyone near as good in the future then we will drop down the league simple as.
-
Wouldn't argue with that....but I'd rather Mirallas on the right if he can get back for a game or two. Possibly Oviedo on the left (where he's looked much better) and switch Pienaar to the right.
even though pienaar would be needed elsewhere, to split him and baines up would be foolish. i like the look of oviedo on the left but dont think he should be played out of position when he's hardly played yet
-
The stoke fans on that website are pathetic. Some saying they should report it to the police and have him locked up like Dunc was, christ if thats the way the want to go about it they wouldnt be able to field a team every week! Love how because somebody actually reacted to their yard dog antics, they're all acting like Angels... Like i said before, absolute joke of a club.
joke of a town too there all fucking wierd, the lack of match of the day coverage is a pisstake they didnt show the 10+ challenges in what fellaini got manhandled even though he should get a ban he hardly touched him would it make any difference to punch someone full force and send them to the ground in relation to the ban because headbutt or not thats not assault but fellaini fell into what shawcross wanted and he should be smarter than that but a 9 game ban would love to slap the muppet who said that
hopefully it will put other clubs off signing him now anyway.
few people have said he wanted christmas off dont no what to think of it tho.

Again, who gives a fuck what they do sometimes, we're better prepared to finish ahead of them anyway when the league ends, so let them and West Ham fight amongst themselves for a mid table finish. Couldn't care less about either. Ok we made hard work of it again today from all that I can ascertain but still won the game and got the three points and we have ourselves a european cup place as it stands and some new faces are expected to arrive in the next window. Most supporters would have bitten off proverbial hands had this been offered at start of season, so although a bumpy ride thus far, and opportunities missed, we are still in a great position to challenge as it stands this night.
moyes has said there wont be but maybe thats to keep prices down.
coleman proved today imo he's good enough to stay rightback, when mirillas is back he will be better still naismith has been dreadful imo reminds me of kilbane for some reason just runs all day but never seems to complete a pass or get a decent cross in would have oviedo on before him but he's a left sider and pienaar and baines dont ever need to be broke up so maybe just bringing him on for now is ok.
4th is all down to us, its not 5 games in no more keep the 3 points coming and we could really take that step up this and next year where we should be!
-
Dembele is as good as Fellaini imo.
fellaini needs to be deep today to stop him barkley in front
-
Yeah but his passing isn't great, his defending and tackling aren't great and his insights aren't great. In short, he isn't a great defensive/box-to-box midfielder. His main merits are his tallness for heading, his turns and chest controls and just the fact that he has pretty much of a killer instinct at certain moments. That's why in my opinion, he's way better up front, right behind the striker. The only reason I wouldn't make him a striker is cause usually he sleeps through most of the game.
you need a good long think.
He's not a striker we use him as one because we like to hoof the ball up , if we played it forward along the ground jelavic would be able to hold it up and lay it off, we need pace up front its obvious everyone can defend high up knowing fellaini and jelavic wont get to the ball if we go get a counter, teams are getting on to this now.
-
Oviedo will at least get a place in the team then, although with Moyes who knows, he will probably have Distin in there.
probably we can guarantee distin leftback more like
-
Best for the job would be Steve Round.
u are joking, moyes isnt going anywhere and if he did i would want an attacking coach not 2 defensive ones
-
The first time I saw Owen's (CL highlights show on ITV last week) I almost fell off my chair.
Pretty sure he was on TV again on Sunday's MOTD because of it
owen looked a total muppet imo
-
looks composed on the ball from the youtube video which would be a help because everyone seems to flap would rather someone with pace who doesnt look likely to hoof it up tho he reminded me of jags hoofing it long but on the other hand he could be a bargain for the price, i like johnny but this year hes been poor
-
Seb Larsson does not fit in Sunderlands mould with Adam Johnson in the same squad. Larsson forced to play centally when he is much better on the right. Id have him any day over Downing. Larssons crosses are 10 times better.
agreed

How about Fellaini for £30m and Rodwell back the other way for free?
lets not
I think we'll be a better team without him but with like three more 6-8 million players.who? cattermole, downing on loan and n zogbia for example you would honestly get rid for 3 players of that calibre and lose the best player we have had in probably a decade seems like people are thinking of the money we wont get it to spend does no one realise that

i know im fed up of him saying that.
Sorry but leon osman is not good enough to be challenging for europe, aston villa/west brom maybe but were never going to move on untill these average players are used more as squad players and when you have a squad like ours he's hardly going to be out the team is he.
Today proved fellaini is half the player he is further back the pitch imo, fair enough he is good in the air and controling the ball but no way is he an attacking midfielder, jones done a decent job but anyone who stays within 5 yards of a player ever second of the game is going to get the odd tackle in didnt think he was as good as people have been saying.
Phil neville when are you going to fuck off seriously what do you do for this club on the pitch.
Heitenga has no pace what so ever, probably our best defender last season, this season has shown he has lost it completely would rather have had duffy there today we all knew he would have something to do with a united goal.
