  1. Rumours of a bid for Michael Bradley at Herenveen for £3million. He'd be a replacement for Carsley according to other forums, but I don't know anything about him except that he's 20 (?) and American.

Dont think he is a Carsley type player he is more of an attacking midfielder who has been banging in the goals this season

  2. I see what you mean, carl, and I agree.... for the most part. I am partial to the idea, though, that if we got someone like Arshavin in to go along with the quality players we have now then maybe Cars and Neville(he plays DM whenever Cars doesn't, from what I remember) will not have such pressure on them so we're desperate to replace them right now. However, I can also see that if we got in a DM, CB and possibly a winger that we would have a more balanced team, and squad, so that makes more sense. I still favour the former, but each to his own I suppose.

Also, I'm not sure if Moyes can pull many, if any, more rabbits out of the hat as he did with Arteta so I still think luxury cover would cost more money than that... As far as Pienaar, we don't actually know how much he'll cost so we'll wait and see.

Im pretty sure that the Piennar fee is already agreed at £2.5M. As for Arshavin IMHO its a no brainer he is top class and the figures getting bandied about are reasonable so sign him!

  3. I know what your sayin dunc it was not the best against Oldham. But maybe we could use it to our advantage being the underdogs. I may be clutching at straws but I'm sure we can give them a game even with a couple of important players missing. ( Peanuts, Arteta, Osman !!)

Well you never know lets hope they can spring a surprise!

  4. Stevie P wont be playing on Tuesday as the South African FA have refused him permission.

    Think thats us out then!

. Although i think stevie is very important to our squad but i think we have enough quality in the squad to get a result at the bridge and give us a chance in the second leg. I know it won't be easy and chelski are a quality side but this is the cup and we all know what can happen. Hopefully the players understand what it means to us fans they will go out and do us proud. Maybe i'm being too optomistic but i think we can get a draw and give us a grat chance in the second leg.

Maybe Im still a bit down after yesterdays farce but the thought of the same midfield that failed to make an impression against an understrength Oldham at Goodison, minus Piennar, taking on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge doesnt fill me with confidence

  5. they are not, and don't have a go at me...I was responding to a question or a suggestion, if you read the whole thread you'd know that....maybe the thread has turned into a bit of a fantasy, my fault though? nope

Sorry wasnt meaning to blame you in particular. I have read the entire thread and Im just frustrated that so many people seem to want rid of one of our best players.

I was just dont see the point of the thread , there is no way we could sell Arteta then bring in Manny and Bentley with the proceeds its pure bollox.

Whilst I think Bentley is a great player does everyone think he is on fire week in week out? I was at the game against them this season and he was awful against us.

Manny hasnt had a look in all season over in Spain and has had all kinds of discaplinary probs off the pitch so even though he was a sucess he last year there is a bit of a gamble there.

Arteta never gives anything but 100 %

Every player is going to have there ups and downs . I just cant beleive that there are Everton fans out there who dont appreciate what Mikel Arteta gives to our team

  6. i dont think arteta is playing bad, just below the high standards he has set himself

I agree his form did take a dip earlier in the season but IM with you even then I dont think hewas playing badly.

I do think that since he has come back he has been a lot better. He was as good as he has ever been against Sunderland and I thought he was great against Arsenal

  7. manny and bentley for arteta is a no brainer for me.... there aren't many better than bentley, if i had to choose a replacement, it would be him.

Where is all this bollox coming from ? I would rather have Kaka and Drogba than the Yak or even Steven Gerrard & Gatusso than Carsley or how about Ronaldo & Henry for Piennar?

There all about as likely to happen as Manny and Bentley

  8. The Stats are worked out the same for Rooney, Ronaldo, Bentley or any other player, must be useless for them as well, Tho i dont recollect Spuddy ever beating five players. :)

As i said, I'm not saying he's not a good player just dont think he's playing as well as he can this season, His delivery from free kicks and Corners have been shite, one league goal against Derby and a penalty goal against Nuremberg are a poor return from 20 odd games.

And a YES to Stevo's post......... i would also Swap him for Fernandes and Bentley.

Maybe he hasnt hit the same heights as last season consistantly this season but he is still a class act an is still by far and away our most creative player and I also believe he brings out the best in players like Stevie P and Ossie.

He is on record as saying he loves it here and thats good enough for me. I really cant understand why anybody would want to get rid of him

  9. It was me who said we would get about 12 million for Arteta

Yes he is class, but Stephen Hunt does the Job aswell as Arteta is he 20 million, NO he is not even 5 million. If we sold Arteta to an overbroad team apart from Real madrid we wouldnt get anywhere near 20 million, the Spanish clubs know how to get a buy and dont spend 20 million plus players who are inexperienced in the Champions league and are not even in their Country Squad. Only Madrid would pay 20 mil plus(which would never happen cos they have robinho)

    :lol::lol::lol:

Haha I am truly lost for words!

  10. Pienaar is as about as lightweight as Osman, surely?

Plus, if Arteta is gonna go eventually - which he has already come about as close to admitting to as he could without saying it out right - then we need to sell him when he is at his highest value and hope that we can get someone in to replace him as well; right now, we probably as about as attractive a club to join as we have been over the past five years and we need to use that to attract certain types of players.

Precisely! Would you want a cm combo of Ossie & Piennar?

As for Arteta , where are you getting your info from, ? he has just signed a five year contract and is on record as saying he loves the club and wants to stay. Even his agent has said this week that he doesnt want to go. That doesnt sound like a player we should be showing the door.

He is by far our most ceative player why do u want him to go?

Tim Howard probably wants to return to the States eventually shall we get rid of him aswell?

We are never going to move forward if we are a selling club, we should be building the team around Arteta not trying to make a fast buck

  11. Yeah... Pandev can defo play wide left, which would give us some balance to let Pienaar play centre or even right-ish. Cause to sell Arteta maybe, especially if he is at his highest value.

Ive never seen Pandev play so got no idea what hes like but I think Piennar is too lightweight to play in the middle and I would hate to see Arteta go at any price.

We need to be improving the squad not selling our best players

  12. I still think his attitude is poor but its all down to personal opinion, but a goal return of 1 in 10 is hardly top quaility. We can do better, i would much prefer to see Vaughny making the bench than mcfadden. I did like him but he only pops up for the odd wonder goal, never gets really stuck into the bread and butter stuff. If the ball falls to his feet i never feel confident he will score, or even complete a decent pass. IMO we have 4 strikers who are better than him, its unfair on him to keep him here if he's not going to get what he really wants which is regular first team football. With his current reputation from the euro qualifiers i think now is the best tim to make some money from his sale

    From tonights Echo

His moving celebration - smacking the black armband all the players wore in respect to Phil O’Donnell and looking to the heavens – confirmed this had been a difficult afternoon for him but, as always, he conducted himself immaculately.

  13. why would any sensible player sign for newcastle over us?

where to start? 5th place in the prem vs 11th place in the prem and not looking as if they'll ever find some consistent form

we're in europe and newcastle is not going to even get close to european football whereas we're in the hunt for a champions league spot

Newcastle would offer double the wages we could offer!
