  1. It’s a simple case of Moyes needing to recognise that it is a quality investment in putting the 12.5 into Yakubu, it is not that he has to choose between him and Manny. LOOK TO THE FUTURE, Anichibe and Yakubu, working together up front.. sounds pretty attractive to me, I think if Yak dosen’t work out, Moyes should seek out some of Mannys lads over in Portugal, there is a whole different level of skill there, plus they are young and come from what are pretty much feeder clubs, Arteta is so skillfull and Moyes should look for a young player who can potentially turn out like him

I would like to see us get Yak because we are desperate for a forward because Big Vic isnt ready yet, but I thought he was overpriced at £10M so £12.5M is absolutely ludicrous.

Granted he is good when he wants to be but he is also useless when he wants to be and that added to the fact we will lose him for 6 weeks during the busiest part of the season makes me think its a waste of money

  2. i cant belive people are moaning yak isnt worth £11m

ONLY HENRY HAS SCORED MORE GOALS OVER THE LAST FEW SEASONS!!!!

    no pleasing some people!

Yak only seems to play when he is in the mood and for £11M I want a forward who turns it on in every game. Having said that we are desperate because I dont think Big Vic is ready to play week in week out and we wouldnt be the first club to spend overthe odds this summer

  3. no its not breaking news its just coming up when they say the things at the begining it shows him and then they are saying he has been taken from the squad and is expected to join everton in the next 48 hours ive been sitting watching sky sports news for a while and ive seen it four times allready.

maybee there just guesing as if he aint been taken from the squad that means not much can happen till sunday at the earliest so im not sure what to make of it

but all the right sounds are being made and its exciting to be in the mix of it all!

anyone know if the fernandes deal is any closer to being confirmed on the official site? ( a nice pic of manny an that blue shirt would bring back some happy memorys) also im intrested as to what number he will be, ive heard he likes 37..... god knows why but id love to see him as number 10 dont ask me why.

It is breaking news Gareth Southgate was on saying that Borro have accepted an £11.2M bid from Everton andhe is expecting to sign in next 48 hrs.

Oh plus went down to Goodison to pick up tickets for reading game today and Yakubu was spotted there!!!

  4. To be honest considering how the team are performing - we are not desperate for any deal to go through by the weekend - its not like he will be in Saturdays team or bench.

As long as the deal is done nefore August 31st, thats the main thing.

Considering that it looks like we have a couple of big signings coming in this next few weeks, none of our new already new signings have any real contribution and we are top of the league with maximum points after two game - It's a nice feeling being an Everton fan at the moment. (OK very early days, but have to make the most of it - I could be a Spurs fan!!! :D )

According to tonights Echo we have agreed terms with Benfica & the third party company and hes having a medical and " deal should be done in time for him to be in the squad for the Reading game"

Looks like Manny could be the proud new owner of that number 10 jersey!

  5. :D:D

Dont want to count my chickens and all that but just read this in this mornings Daily Post

Imminent arrival Manuel Fernandes is unlikely to be in the squad to face Reading as he hasn’t trained this week since leaving Benfica’s squad in the build-up to their Champions League tie – but Everton will look to push his transfer through before the weekend.

    :D:D:D

  6. Yet another story, this one from tomorrows daily mail

Manuel Fernandes flew into Merseyside on Monday night to complete an &8million move to Everton after being pulled out of Benfica's Champions League qualifier with FC Copenhagen.

The midfielder, who had a loan spell at Goodison last season, is due to discuss personal terms today over a move that will cost Everton an initial &6m, with addons. Everton are also refusing to give up their pursuit of Middlesbrough's Nigeria striker Yakubu.

Starting to look good!! Still dont rate Yak at anywhere near £10-£12M and we will still be short in numbers upfront over the Xmas & New Year because of African Nations Cup

Still who cares he will defo improve the squad!!

  7. A lot of you know where the tunnel is situated and will have been in the tunnel at one point or other. I have just looked it up and the tunnels to Wirral accomodate an average of 6400 vehicles an hour - that's both Kingsway and Queensway (the article I found was from 2003 so it's probably increased since then).

For arguments sake I will say 3000 of these use Wallasey tunnel. That is an average of 26,280,000 vehicles a year using the Wallasey Tunnel. All driving right the way around the stadium - as has been pointed out by October communications.. It is a very exciting prospect for advertisers and brands. This number doesn't include those driving past on Scotland Road.

If we move to the trumpet site. We will have one over our lovely neighbours. - we will be in the city centre. Our city centre. They'll be 2miles away out in Stanley Park.

We'll be served by Lime Street station (with trains running to the Wirral every four minutes) and direct links with every major city in the country and near the coach station in in Norton Street - oh and it's a 8 minute walk from the site.

The stadium will form part of the backdrop for the new look Liverpool skyline and to top it off we will be in Everton!

All sounds great but how do we pay for it?

  8. The new stadium is part funded by Tesco and the remainder by us, thats 50mil from Tesco & approx 100mil from us whch we will raise by selling Goodison (They say for 15mil), stadium naming rights & a loan for the rest.

At the scotland road site we would get around 20mil more for naming rights with the location right on the city centre which would mean that site would cost Everton about 30mil more than kirkby. The possibility of comercial partners lika a hotel for example could mean that any deal on the table could quite easily match or better the Kirkby project. If you are realy considering or have voted yes because you believe a no vote leaves us skint your IMO wrong all a no vote does is makes Everton do a bit more work on other sites & possibly delay the build for a short period of time. The financial differences if any will be minimal.

It's all well and good claiming we need to move to raise money to but Kenwright will be off as soon as his share prices are up and there's no doubt in my mind we will follow the growing trend and bag us a money man. Then the only motivation to your vote "raising money" will be irelavant anyway.

Just an opposing argument for you to chew over!

Im not saying that you have got your figures wrong but where did you come up with them from? The club claim it will cost us approx £15M while you say its £100M , just a bit of a difference me thinks!

Why would we get more money for naming rights for a ground in Speke or Aintree or Scottie Rd?

If we were to go ahead with the loop site where are you going to manage to fit a hotel? we can only just about squeeze a ground in there.

As for vote No lets hang around and wait for a multi millionaire to save us , no thanks ! Thats why I voted yes!

  9. These boys would both be tremendous signings for us.

Yakubu would bag plenty of goals and fernandes would continue to improve on his already dazzling ability

I too noticed Moyes comments about 'situation changing' does this mean we were playing dumb earlier on to avoid getting priced out of the market or could it mean extra cash has been made available??

Then again it could just be a fly away comment, took out of context, that we have all latched onto!!

I heard an interview on radio city where he says 'our situation has changed' and all he was reffering to was the need to buy a striker. He said at start of window he wasnt looking for one but since the injuries to Vaughn, faddy and Tim plus sale of BT 'our situation has now changed' and so yes we are looking at bringing in a striker

  10. Phil Neville and Lee Carsley ARE our defensive midfielders, it's then upto Mikel Arteta, Leon Osman, Tim Cahill, Andy V.D. Meyde, Steven Pienaar and Manuel (if we get him) to surround those players and be the creative ones.

I agree that we need to buy another striker though, maybe not urgently, but we do. We still have pace in A.J. and we have the strentgh to hold the ball up in Victor, don't you agree???

I disagree with you about the urgency to sign another striker, what happens if AJ gets injured tomorrow? Also we are going to lose big Vic when the Nigeria games come around that leavws Faddy & Luke , now that sounds desperate enough for me!

  11. How anyone can have made their mind up to vote yes on the information Everton have provided is beyond me!

I found it quite an easy decision I just asked myself the following questions:

    1. Do we need to move?

    Ans Definatley yes

    2. Can we afford to pay for a new ground by ourselves?

    Ans Definately No

Its all good and well being sentimental and saying we need to stay within the city boundary but where is the money coming from? We cant afford to sit around waiting for a multi billionare sugar daddy to suddenly appear from nowhere. and after all its only 4 miles from Goodison anyway and you try telling Alan Stubbs hes not from Liverpool!
