  1. Just because I am curious, and considering some of the topics here, I was wandering on the general thoughts surrounding the ground move amongst the people who use this site.

    The options are of course

    1) Stay at Goodison (redevelope is included in this)

    2) Go to Kirkby

    3) Go to another site in the City.

No need for long explanations. It is just to see how voting would be if we had the chance again. Put them in order of preference.

For me the order would be.

    1, 3, 2.

  2. We all have a favourite song, but that will change over time.

What you like now will not always be your favourite.

Much better to ask what songs you like or dislike.

I actually do not like Bohemian Rhapsody although I do like a lot of Queen stuff.

Not sure if I have an actual favourite at the moment though, there are a number of songs I like. I am not sure you would want a list.

  3. I actually do not remember him in the Euros.

Probably my fault for not taking much notice, but maybe if he was as good as that I would have remembered him?

Just how good is he? Everton have had a lot of 'nearly men' in the past and in truth we do not want to be buying anymore deadwood just now as we can not afford it.

  4. Oh yes I do not disagree with you there. My point is that he will not try to sign someone he can not afford.

If he signs anyone it will be for the betterment of the squad, not just to increase numbers in it. Anyone can go out and buy a player. But it is not always possible to go out and buy a suitable player. If a suitable player is unavailable or too pricey then as much as I would like to see them at Goodison, I aplaud the fact that Moyes knows when not to buy.

Would you like them to splash out £25 million for Berbatov (for example) and then find we are so short of cash we have to virtually sell the rest of the squad to clear the debt? Everton are not a wealthy club in comparison to many. All buying has to be done carefully.

My point is that David Moyes knows how to manage this side of things far better than we do. If he can buy he will.

  5. I appreciate the opportunity to add a reply to this thread, and i thank you for reopening it.

    My reply is:

I am not down hearted or filled with gloom. While I (like many others) would dearly love to see some activity in the transfer window, I accept the fact that David Moyes knows what he is doing better than I do. If it were not so then I would be manager of our great club.

To just buy someone for the saqke of it is not right. Even a good player may not be suitable for Everton due to the fact that we may already have better players in that position. Or due to the fact that silly money is being asked.

It would be wonderful if we were being linked to Ronaldo or Berbatov or whatever, but we need to be honest with ourselves. Everton can not afford to enter the hunt for really great well known players.

I am sure Moyes has his eyes on more than a few players and he will dismiss them if they are not good enough or too expensive.

His transfer dealings are a lot better than many other managers, so in my own humble opinion, just let him get on with it and see what happens. If he doesn't buy then he has decided not to. AND he knows what he is doing.

  6. I want to see him fit and playing for a couple of reasons.

    a) If he proves the doubters wrong we could have a great player in the team.

    B) If he proves the doubters right, at least he will be remembered and we may be able to offload him.

    c) We are not exactly well catered for with players, and no matter how far he may have sunk, he is better on the pitch in blue than just having 9 players start a game.

OK ok I am pushing it a bit with the last point :D

  7. It depends on whether they want to name their new station Stanley Park Stadium or whatever I guess. :)

in Birmingham, Aston Villa want to rename Witton Lane station to Villa Park, their equivalent to Merseytravel has agreed providing they part fund necessary upgrades to the station.

I notice you say that only applies if Villa are willing to put money into the scheme. I am not at all sure I can see Everton pumping any money into that scheme.

  8. Ok Can I put in a quick post on here?

Firstly I am a relative 'newbie' to the site so I can not comment on what it was like previously.

Secondly I have been on a few sites over the years. There is not a lot wrong with this one that I can see, some sites are a lot worse I can assure you.

Thirdly, being a Mod is not an easy job at the best of times, it is pretty thankless and you not only have to keep things moving and in order, you have to generate interest. To generate a thread to interest folks is not an easy task. (Yes I have been a mod on a number of sites) At this time of year many many many sites go into a sort of quiet period, you just have to push on through and hopefully things pick up soon. With a football site things generally tend to pick up after the start of the season.

Frankly, and this is purely my own opinion, so feel free to disagree, this is an excellent site and very well done. It is informative in places, ridiculous in others, and there is always the opportunity to see a total muppet posting absolute rubbish, which in itself can be quite funny.

(Yes I have posted absolute rubbish myself in the past and I expect I will be a muppet again in the future, nobody is perfect you know)

  9. Going back to the houses mentioned earlier.

I remember when LFC built the new Kemlin road stand there was a lot of people who lived there before they knocked down the houses. Nobody was forced out though. Liverpool merely bought up the property as it became available and when they had what they wanted they pressed ahead with the plans.

Surely that is the same with Everton?

I do not see people being forced out of their homes for the sake of a football stadium. People live there? Well ok so they do, but they will be asked to leave not forced to.

Anyone who wishes to stay there will do so as far as I can see.

And as already stated there are a lot of places around the ground anyway.

However that is all beside the point.

Does Everton have ownership, or the rights to, enough space around the ground at the moment? The longer it takes to gain this land, if Everton are to remain at Goodison, the longer it will be before we can rebuild Goodison.

Be a bit pointless to rebuild the stadium piecemeal.

  10. I like Fernades myself. Ok he can be a bit hit and miss, but so were a few other players before Moyes got to work on them. I think he could do a really good job for Everton. He could also bomb badly. But my money would be on him doing well with a good bit of preseason and perhaps a kick up the backside. I am sure once his confidence is back he will be an asset.

Yes ok I know there is going to be disagreement on this. I respect that.

  11. I can not remember any of the pubs in Liverpool I have enjoyed a drink in post match... well I can remember the pubs, just not the names.

There used to be an Irish bar not that far away from there... or it didn't seem too far. Know the one I mean? Painted in green with gold writing I think.

I used to go to the bluehouse but never really enjoyed it. I tended to walk back near home and drink in the Clubmoor or the Elm.

  12. To win a competition you must beat the opposition.

Why should Everton be scared of anyone? We can beat anyone on our day... and if we are playing badly we can be beaten by lower class opposition too. Milan. Madrid. Or Morcambe we can beat them all, or be beaten by them all.

Not scared of Milan at all

  13. As hard as it feels to say this, but I think I need to.

Everton need a big investment, perhaps from a foreigner with a lot of cash to spend. Can you imagine what Moyes would be capable of if he had a big income from a Roman Abramovitch type of investor?

Yes it sounds almost treacherous to say this. But where else can we get the money the club needs?

  14. Having read that, something comes to mind. I remember a handbag, a goal keeper and a lot of fun and banter.

I wonder if something along similar lines could be done in the modern game. it keeps the rivallry and brings fun into the game.

I am sure the Reds goalie (whoever they decide to use for a Derby) would appreciate a big pair of foam hands to help him get hold of a ball.

Or maybe a tea tray for the Spanish waiter?

Oh well just an idle thought. The fun has gone out of the game too much to bring it back.
