In my opinion waste of time as he is just going to warm the bench would rather use veilos as competition for places.With the money available after previous sales why are we not trying to get players in on a perm basis. I am all for the odd loan but if its loan players getting us champions league it doesn't feel right. I would rather we live within our means and get players who we own and develop. I am loving this season and I don't have an issue with the three loans we have. Barry should be ours on a free, delfleuo is a squad player and I hoped lukaku was a loan to buy if not officially on paper. I would rater have kept jelly to complete with lukaku but to sell him for 6.5 and replace him with a loan doesn't make sense. If we are selling a second choice striker for 6.5 we should be buying a replacement for atleast the same money if not more. And that player should be line up a signed.

Stats are not awful

To be honest Jones is a decent prem striker and for 1 mil who cares. I think martinez would have covered off his ability to support the team before buying him. Big guy up front he maybe a squad player but for 1 mil at 29 seems a lot better business than the kone deal. Jones is out of contract in the summer so it isn't going to be a massive outlay.

That seems to me it leaves a decent wedge to buy some players in Jan. I know the money goes other places but the fees he has got in and the price he has paid for players seem pretty good Kone is an exception as I just don't rate him but in all I think a couple of 5 mil plus signings in the window would be good.

I do think ultimately this is the right move to tie him down and if push came to shove I would rely on him as my first choice however probably like a lot of you seeing oviedo in the left back position and playing so well the fear of baines leaving doesn't bother me as much now. I would rather keep baines on the principle to show we are not a selling club and trying to build something.

This whole situation for me makes the lone transfer even stranger. Obviously lukkaku wasn't in the picture but as I said before 6mil on Kobe was a strange one. We need a striker at the 10-20 mil level. Obviously lukkaku would be the preferred option but if not we need proven ability. Remy would be a good option if we could afford him.

I have watched most of the games this season and I think lukkaku loses the ball too much and comes far to deep to get it. His strength is and general target man ability does seem lacking in some of his decision making. When thg all hits him he hoes not given what seem the most obvious simple ball. Has anyone else noticed.

We seem to be better against bigger teams and I think its because those games are more open.

I agree with post that says he was a bad idea before he signed. So of the 4 Wigan players we signed we have only had real value out of 1. Which is the one we all wanted.

At the time I was surprised we spent so much on him. Martinez has worked wonders this season however the purchase of Kone was a bad decision at a time when we didn't have the felli money .

Ok I eat my words I think a starchily already said this. We are vulnerable at the back and I wonder where we would be without lukaku.

I wouldn't say mcarthy is a star signing. He is a decent midfielder certainly not a game winner. Is he the star because of his price.

I would for for a midfield of Barry Osman and Barkley. Bring McCarthy in slowly. We now have a bit more competition.0
