Seem to be shopping in the bargain bin for anything half decent who would come to us.

I know it's always been the way but I don't get why we don't have the scouting network or cash of a villa Norwich Swansea etc.

Take the barca youngster as the exception to the rule and the signings we have made do not fill me with imagination and confidence.

Would I be right in saying the perm head count average age has gone up since Martinez joined.

So in response to many of the comments this is an opinion based forum so I am giving my honest assessment of a Manager I don't believe to be up to the job. There were better options. I honestly believe Bill saw the FA Cup win and thought he is amazing. I don't think we scowered Europe or even England for the best manager we went with what the press said. I understand we won't get a Wenger But I wanted a bit more effort taken rather than just plump for the presses best option.

Were you one of the people who were wanting Moyes out? On the whiole no although like most people there were certain games that left me fuming and ill admit I called for his head.

 

Kone - 6mil. A bit over priced not going to lie about that but again do you think we could get someone like Pauliniho who has signed for Spurs? I want us to pick up good deals in younger players. Kone has had a decent season in the prem. is he going improve our striking options? Is he better than jelavic on a good day? To spend money on a striker he needs to be proven as better than what we have. Jelavic vic Kone all good on there day but no one miles better than the other. And he is 30.

 

Who would you of wanted to manage Everton? (If Martinez wasn't our manager) simple answer Steve Clarke great foundation worked with the best and made a very good fist of a WBA team who are no better on paper than Wigan.

 

 

You cannot compare us to Wigan in any way, shape or form, do you honestly think we will do that bad with Martinez that he will be sacked in January?

Everyone is right we have a strong defence But they have to be coached and protected correctly by the rest of the team. People say you can't compare us to Wigan when in reality I am just looking at the record of our manager if I can't do that how else can I form an opinion. Do ppl honestly believe It has been the quality of players that got Wigan relegated and Martinez is blameless. You can excuse facts to fit your argument.

When he was being linked there was a massive swell of opinion stating how his win rate was very low. How he plays attractive football but not good enough defending

I don't want this to be a "Your not giving him a chance thread" so I honestly believe we will be poor next season a bit like a villa last year. But Martinez won't last the bad spell. I think because of the indifference towards the appointment ppl will be on his back very quick. If the total of his transfer dealings is Kone Alcaraz and even Redmond Then everyone will be there saying I told you so. I want him to prove me wrong a get us sixth but the stats don't lie and her relegated a team that Steve Bruce kept up. I wouldn't begrudge baines or felli leaving for champion league. But if they stay and we get get and Moses I would be very pleased. I don't think we need a striker as I think the 4 four we have including mirrales are good enough. I don't think we could improve on the current strikers unless we spent 15 mil+

So in rumours we are linked with 6 out of 7 are ex- Wigan. Surely Bobby needs time to assess what he needs in terms of what the current squad offer and the type of players to fit in to the higher expectations. Why would he go back to Wigan when they were relegated from their current squad.

My argument may not have been thought through and I may not have some fancy justification for this but Martinez record is shit and whether its at a shit club is irrelevant. Why was he stuck at the shit club. Everyone says he turned down pool and AV I don't remember that I remember it being interviews for several and them him not getting the job. My gut feel is this is the start of us becoming a change your manager every season type club. I can't see what thought has gone into this appointment more than BK looking at what his local paddy power had as the favourite. If ever there was a season not to give martinez a big club job this was it. I want to know who else was interviewed if it was big dunc phil Neville and the tea lady then give it to martinez. Everyone seem to think we could attract big name managers but why we sell our best players we never have a pot to piss in and the chairmen is hated by the fans. Add to that topping the previous manager is nigh on impossible and knowing he left because he had gone as far as he could with the current resources I for one am not going to be saying ok we are playing nice so losing doesn't matter

Martinez wil not have the bollox to stand up to kenright and so we will sell everything that is not nailed down replace with some average prem players and then say we had no money. I am not going to make predictions but I am nervous of a relegation fight in the next few years. It just shows to me the lack of forsight the club has. Press says martinez is good even though his record is shocking kenright goes he looks cheap lets have him. Umless we pull some amazing deals off this summer OR keep felli and add some decent bargains I fear

STEVE CLARKE is 100 times better than Martinez.

If we are not going for experience in a progressive club (Wigan are not) I would go for someone interal maybe Dave weir.

I don't get Martinez he hasn't got a record to speak of constantly flirts with relegation then finally took them down. Won the FA Cup but so did Pompey. I don't see what the attraction is We need to be aiming a lot higher. The only person we are linked with I like is the current Porto manager atleast he has a record of winning the league and dealing with big name players. I still don't see why Steve Clarke at WBA is not an option. He has a great history in coaching and has made a good first season in management with a decent prem club.
