  1. If we had a bigger squad then yes let him go out on loan but as it is I want to keep him. I'm a big fan of the kid especially his passion ( even though i do agree with some on here about him "chasing lost causes" and "putting himself into tackles that cause injuries") However I do think he would develop a hell of better/quicker with 15 games this season under moyes rather than 38 games under "long ball/long throw" stoke style of play!!! If he goes anywhere I would prefer him to go to Preston, as they play some good football and irvine knows all about his strengths and how to use the lad.
  2. Im not his biggest fan:( But what is the actual price?? as people talked about £2.5m - £6mill on here for him. Personally I wouldnt pay anymore than £3mill for a player of his standard with only 1 year left on his contract and if it is £3mill or less then it could turn out to be a great buy, however if it is £6mill then I think arsehole wenger is laughing all the way to the bank at us!
  3. chris i know what your saying but this lad is top class mate, remember some of our best centre midfielders over the years havent always been big, peter reid, carsley (even cahill aint the biggest) etc I would love this lad here so its a fingers crossed from me
  4. OMG I really really hope he has been brought in as cover and that Moyes has a better target lined up to replace lescott (if he goes) if he stays then personally im not a senderos fan but I would prefer him coming off the bench than moving rodwell back there at the moment. Life is not easy being a blues fan but hey I wouldnt have it any other way
  5. Yep I agree respect to leeds on this one, wish other clubs took the same mentality. In regards to delph, the kid looks a good prospect but for the money talked (around £8mill) we just dont have the cash to invest that in a player that is going to take a couple of seasons to be ready for the premiership. We need to invest in players that are capable now!
  6. HELL NO!!!!! Senderos is poor. If we do sell lescott (and its looking more likely by the day) then I hope we bring in someone a lot better than him, for me i would prefer yobo and jags as starting and get a decent youngster in and use the cash on other area's of the team. Would even prefer getting Dunne in the lescott deal and that says something. Already dissapointed with our transfer activity so far this pre season - getting senderos would be a sign of us goin backwards. Sorry for the negative mail as Im normally positive but he has proven on many occasions that he just cant cut it in the premiership, moyes can turn a lot of seemingly average players into top class but he isnt a magician!
  7. If he goes he goes if he stays he stays. Personally I want him to stay but I also think £20+ million moyes would spend wisely and probably already has replacements lined up for him. The only real worry i have is if everton do their usual transfer business and leave it until the last couple of days of the window and we end up paying over the odds sometimes ie sell lescott for £20mill then pay £10mill for a cb not even half his quality. We will just have to wait and see, honestly i think we have a quality squad already (when fully fit) and if we can keep all our big players then not much is needed to be added to it. As always in moyes I trust
  8. I do remember the interview and moyes did say his focus was going to be on youth and squad players as he is happy with the quality in the first team. Personally I think a lot of this would be down to the budget he has to play with ( or lack of) as i think we all know the first team needs improving in certain area's. One thing is for sure we will not get this lad as he is very highly rated in germany and is one of their hottest prospects, he would command a massive fee. TBH im not to down heartened so far with our lack of transfer activity but the only one i am gutted about losing out on is Lorik Cana as i feel for £6mill and 35k wages he would have fitted into our structure great and is also that top quality Defensive Midfielder we have been crying out for since Carsley left. ( Surely we are more attractive as a club than sunderland????) so can only think moyes didnt make the move. Moyes and Kenwright have done great so far so lets just trust in them a little more and see what the rest of the transfer window brings
  9. Really good player but I dont believe this story one little bit, a lot more teams than the ones mentioned would be interested in him and he is worth a hell of a lot more then £8.5mill. Also says he is a replacement for pienaar who is set to leave us this summer???? Unfortunately I think its a rubbish article
  10. Personally I would love to have hutton here, but I think redknapp will have him as first choice right back this season (even tho he has just bought naughton) as corluka will be used as cb due to their injuries and also the fact ledley king can only play 1 game per week (supposedly). A shame but i think we can right this one off. Lets just go out and get deffour and move pip back to his best position at rb, then we got hibbs as cover ( one of THE best back up full backs in the league imo).
  11. Unfortunately i happen to agree with you mate, i dont think we will get either one as a part exchange although i would personally like either richards or onuoha. Anything above £20mill and I really dont think we would refuse it and also as much as Lescott is a legend I think 100k+ wages are too good to turn down for him. But i do trust in moyes to discover another gem of a cb for around £6mill I just hope he is allowed to spend all of the rest on strengthening the other positions we are weak in - ie Right back, Right wing One thing is for sure if you do get lescott he is one hell of a defender and also a lot better value for money than terry is!
  12. This one has dragged its heels for nearly a year now. If there is ANY truth in it then I really hope we sign him up, yes a little hot headed sometimes but looks one hell of a defensive midfielder. Would love to see him up against the likes of lampard, barry, and gerrard etc. (like to see stevie g try those moves he did on that lad in a nightclub on cana!)
  13. This lad is top class and would be a great signing for us. However he will cost more than fellaini did and unfortunately if its true about the other clubs mentioned then i think we may lose out on him, I hope him fells are mates and he pulls a few strings for us. Even if we dont get him it once again shows the intention/ambition of the club now as i remember only a few seasons ago talking about signing the likes of sean davis, michael dawson etc
  14. spot on! and i cant believe we are even talking of "replacing" howard, he has been top class for us since he joined - yes he has had a couple of blips but what gk doesnt, this season so far van de saar, cech, reina havent exactly been solid!!! Personally I'm a big howard fan and I agree I would like to see a better understudy to maybe push him a little more than nash, ruddy, turner etc but as for replacing him - no thanks as we couldnt afford or attract a better gk right now!
  15. I have said in the past how much i would love this transfer to happen but I believe if we were gonna be able to do the transfer it would have happened last time we tried. I think that other teams will be in for him if he truly is available which will both put up the price of the transfer and also his wages, unfortunately I think this will put us out of the running. I hope BK proves me wrong and magics up some more money as he always seems to do but I think we will see the cash spent on 2 or 3 lesser quality players from championship or abroad ( this might be a good thing as moyesy always seems to spot a bargain or two and also we are desperate for numbers in the squad as proven this season) I wouldnt bank on this one coming off!
  16. I am gutted about yesterdays result as I think they were there for the taking and we missed a great opportunity to go into next weekends game on a real high, however lets not forget we got a good point against a top side away from home ( i just wish we would start winning some of these away games now rather than picking up draws as we seem to have goodison back to being a fortress). Lets get off howards back though, he has been solid as always this season (as have all the back 5) and yes he has had a couple of blips lately but I think a lot of what happenend yesterday was down to his injury, he didnt look like he could jump properely and hardly even left the ground coming for those crosses, its pretty obvious that moyes doesnt have any confidence in nash otherwise he would have played him, maybe we need to get a good back up gk in the summer to give tim some real competition.
  17. Personally I think howard is in the top 5 goalkeepers in the league, however I do agree that we could do with another solid goalkeeper to push him a little more (nash isnt premiership standard by any means) If we wanted a top class gk to give him some real competition then we should have gone for either robinson or cudicini when they were available. Foster has good potential but will not be cheap and we all know BK's purse strings will be tight in the summer and we could do with using the cash in other areas. I am from peterborough and watch the POSH regular and believe me we wouldnt want joe lewis, he is very very inconsistent and if he makes the type of mistakes he does in league 1 then he would get mullered in the premiership!
  18. When looking at our fixture run in this one stuck out for obvious reasons, and a couple of months ago I will be honest I was dreading the thought of it!!! However now that its here and the great form we are in and villa are NOT in I'm really excited about it. A lot of people have said how well villa played against the mancs (which they did) however lets not forget they LOST the game in horrible circumstances and I think that will be a bad thing for them not a good (christ its happened against the top 4 for us before) There is only one team going into this game confident and thats us and as long as we do what we do best and go at them from the start (no cagey defensive nonsense) then I can see a couple of goals win for us. Only real threats I think they pose us are from ashley young (brilliant young winger) and that big lump john carew (we know how we struggle against tall strikers - anyone remember crouch the other week??) apart from that where are their goals going to come from as on SSN today it says that Gabby "I'manannoyinglittleshitlahor" is injured and so is heskey. I say lets be positive enjoy the game and get the win that will put us into 5th spot, the position we deserve to be in, unfortunately I think arsenal have 4th sewn up but if we are all being honest after the things we have all been through this season we would happily take a 5th finish and a possible fa cup final!!!! And finally I am very happy that none of the pundits are speaking about us getting 4th on tv, as I think we thrive on being the underdogs and its when we play our best football with no pressure on us! COYB's
  19. Absolute top class player and would be a great signing for us IF it happens. Apart from the top 4 we would be the most attractive option for footballing reasons to him and from the few snippets of quotes I have heard from him he seems a level headed guy who doesnt seem like the type to go somewhere for just a fat wage packet (hopefully that rules out west ham, newcastle, man city etc). I did feel he would go to chelsea this summer as they are gonna offload malouda, ballack etc however since big phil has left I think we could be in pole position! I think our main rivals for his signature will be from spain, as teams like real madrid, barca, villareal etc will always be in the hunt for players like him (even tho he would probably end up wasting on the bench for a couple of seasons) Fingers crossed on this one as I would love him here, if not there is another starlet in the same mould who is going to be available and for a smaller fee I wouldnt mind in instead - van der vaart! COYB'S!
  20. Jenas is a decent player, not great, but he is a good age with good experience and is in and around the international squad. For £3mill-£4mill I would definately sign him but quite a few teams in and around us would be interested which would hike the price (possibly double it) and also they would be offering him a lot more money in wages than we would, remember he is on a reported £40k a week at tottenham!!! Personally I would save those kinda wages and put them into a bigger transfer fee and try and get someone like moutinho, van der vaart - who in my opinion are a lot better players anyway!!!
  21. Firstly those are 2 of my favourite players we have, both at a great age with years at the top in them and most importantly they both will keep improving. Reasons to keep them: Arteta: currently maturing into one of the best midfielders in the league, especially now moyes has seen the wisdom we have all been speaking about for the last couple of seasons and now plays him in his best position at centre midfield. Lescott: Left footed centre back (priceless as next best is upson - enough said!!!) english, passionate, and now in the england squad on a regular basis. Built up a great understanding with jags and currently look in my opinion THE best partnership in the league. Reasons to sell them: Arteta: he was never going to finish his career with us and we will get the best possible price for him now rather than selling in a few years for peanuts if he runs down his contract and gets the move he wants back to spain. Lescott: Occasional erratic form, will his dodgy knees come back to haunt us. Man city are the new chelsea and will be paying over the odds for players for the next few years, we could easily get around £30mill for the 2 players, which to us is a massive amount of money - however my MAIN concerns over this would be replacing them with A: equivalent quality (not a lot available) and B: EVERYONE WILL KNOW WE HAVE THAT CASH AND WE IN TURN WILL HAVE TO PAY OVER THE ODDS ASWELL!!!! So in a nutshell I personally feel it would be a MISTAKE to sell either one - unless moysie has a couple of top class players already lined up before he sells.
  22. never heard of this kid but if he is gonna cost next to nothing then why not! More importantly - great pic coxy051 - sign them up!!!!!
  23. When SSN covers a story it usually means it has some truth to it. Personally I just Love it when a player confesses they would love to play for us, it makes a nice change to hear that rather than the usual man utd, chelsea, liverpool rubbish they normally say. Could be another top young player and I'm guessing he would be on lowish wages so its a big yes on this one from me!
  24. he is super quick but apart from that not much else in his skill set, for me I would much prefer someone who is better on the ball and brings other players into the game more.
  25. A fully fit michael owen is still one of THE best finishers in the league and I personally would love THAT player at our club, however there are 3 main problems I would have with the transfer: A - He will never have a fully fit season again as too many old injuries dont seem to have healed well enough B - He would still attract some of the richer clubs outside of the top 4 ie man city, aston villa etc and will command at least 80k wages - no doubt well above our budget and what I would want us to pay C - Our current best formation I still believe is 4-5-1 and owen would be no good playing as a lone striker, we have better options already - yak, saha, victor, vaughn. I like the fact that we are being mentioned as a possible destination for a player of his quality and I think it shows the progress we have made under moyes, just remember some of our old strikers: cadamateri, mo johnston, jeffers etc However I like the type of signings we have made in the last few seasons and personally hope that moyes sticks with that plan of young progressing players (not superstars but superstars in the making) ie cahill, arteta, jags, lescott, baines etc etc etc. I say save the crazy wages we would have to pay and put all of that into a transfer fee and go for the likes of moutinho, van der vaart, deffour etc as those guys represent a lot better value for money. Potential owen cost : £80k wages = £4mill a season x 3 year contract (min) = £12mill + 10% signing on fee of any potential transfer fee + whatever the agents fee - then the usual bonuses and add ons that all big name players seem to demand = OVER THE ODDS TRANSFER!!!!
