GOAL: GUEYE What a goal that was. Beckford gets the ball through the defense off Gueye, Gueye sprints into the box and Beckford puts it across the front of goal with a delightful chipped pass and Gueye meets it on the back post and sends it into the other side of the goal. 3-1

Beckford beats a man then goes for a shot. Players looking tired now.

Good build up and Gueye rolls it to Rodwell who hits it first time low and straight at the keeper. Beckford on for Cahill.

Heitinga and Pip on for Jags and Baines.

Jags gets beaten far too easily by Pontious and Coleman manages to stifle the shot but Distin is the vicitim as he's down. Heitinga and Neville look ready to come on.

MacAleny made a good run and lays it off to Rodwell who has the option to lay it off to Cahill but turns and shoots and gets a deflection. From the resultant corner Cahill's header is cleared off the line, the ball falls to Magaye Gueye who lays it back to Bily who curls an effort onto the bar. Good spell of pressure.

We've seen him score those plenty of times. Baines cross to cahill who pushes it inches wide with the header. Before that Conor had a shot blocked. Looks up for it.

After a spell of DC pressure, Distin makes a nice block and a tame effort is held by Mucha. Looking decent defensively bar that slip up for the goal.

After a short water break Ossie gets a chance but it flies over. No real rhythmn so far in the second half.

Cahill blasts a volley over and DC get caught for offside.

So Ossie and Magaye came on for Vellios and Barkley and now Anichebe is off for MacAleny.

Ball over the top for DC United who score. 2-1

Back under way, no action yet. Liverpool 3 nil down at Hull apparently.

Half Time: DC United 0 - Everton 2 Started sharply and a lot of clever pass and go moves from the younger players. Vellios, Barkley, Rodwell, Coleman and Anichebe all looking sharp and strong ahead of the next season. It certainly looks like if we get nothing in the transfer market we have more than a few players who can step up and do the job when it needs to be. certainly against the lesser teams of the prem and in the cups we have some strength in depth. Good hold up play from the strikers, great vision from Barkley especially but also Rodwell, Bily looks solid down the left if a little slow, but all in all a strong, if drained, 45 minutes.

I'm sorry but Barkley looks like he could be as good as any 10mil signing we could get. He picks up the ball from Cahill and outside the opposition box surrounded by 4 players, dances out from trouble and slides a ball out to Coleman who stumbles on it. Almost half time, no real action to speak of.

Coleman and Vellios link up and Coleman fires a shot over the bar. Good reverse pass by Vellios. DC counter with a stinging effort from the outside of the box, which hits the side netting.

Few players looking tired, Anichebe though tracking back to right-back and marshalls the ball out for a throw. Fair play to him he basically shoved the guy.

Surprise, surprise. we change to 4-5-1 and Anichebe is on the wide right and DC have had the ball for the last five minutes. Come on Moyes 4-4-2 is working why change it?

Cahill booked for deliberate handball. The replay shows he might have tried to head it but it's definately his arm that gets the only touch. Great save by Mucha from the resultant free kick.

A quick water break, understandable in the heat. Distin has looked unflappable and Anichebe looks to have shaking off the knock. Barkley's nose is fine too.

Barkley's vision is fantastic. A little interchange with Bily and he's through on goal but the defender managed to pressure the shot wide.

GOAL: BILY Great passing move and no chance of offside. Rodwell picks the ball up off Coleman as Bily starts running, he lays it into Barkley who flicks it round the corner and Bily is clear through on goal and cooly slides it home. barkley certainly looking ready to step up to the first team. 2-0

Cheebs gets another chance but it's straight at the keeper. Holding his back but he certainly looks sharper than I've seen him before. Barkley's control looks excellent. Coleman and Barkley operating down the right, Bily down the left with Anichebe and vellios up front. Looks like a diamond formation.

Cheebs has picked up a knock and is moving tentatively. Coleman looks good at right back, and Cahill is certainly up for it.

GOAL: ANICHEBE Not sure on the time but its barely 5 mins and a ball over the top finds Anichebe with a darting run behind the line, into the left corner of the box and with his 2nd touch chips the ball into the opposite corner of the net. 1-0 to the toffees
