  1. Everton Starting XI vs. DC United: Mucha, Coleman, Baines, Rodwell, Distin, Jagielka, Bilyaletdinov, Anichebe, Vellios, Cahill, Barkley Substitutes: Heitinga, Beckford, Neville, Gueye, Osman, McAleny, Davies. Good to see Barkley starting, get a good look at him and Ossie on the bench means his injury wasn't that bad. Cheebs is starting too. will let you guys know any goals or talking points and give a little report post game.
  2. Attempted it but got confused with the second page? "11. Talking to people about my team would make things seem just perfect" and "22. Seeking information about my team online would make me less depressed" It kind of suggests I'm already depressed doesn't it? Plus you repeat some of the questions and then ask for percentages of the amount of time I spend regarding my team, when surely you should ask for average times and then calculate the percentages yourself? Always happy to help people out with things like this but the survey could use retouching mate
  3. So I've ordered the game for tonight, has anyone had any problems with streaming on the site so far? I use Google Chrome and it seems to stream the other videos without incident but of course there not live, hopefully it'll all work smoothly. Happy to post match updates on here for people who aren't watching.

  5. Cardiff City.......so I guess what I'm really a fan of is false hope
  6. With £18m it all depends what Moyes feels he needs to build on. It certainly will get us N'Zogbia and perhaps a decent defender in as a replacement. I don't understand why people feel £18m is a bad deal. I understand the argument that in today's ever-escalating market Jagielka is easily worth more, but as good as he is, the price is just about acceptable. Personally I'd say £20m is fair but maybe they could negotiate add-ons... My view is someone like Jagielka is as valuable to us as Jones was to Blackburn. Blackburn scraped their way out of relegation, and one of the few hopes for the season ahead, nay the future in general, was their young, talented prospect who could lead their back line. Blackburn have a squad of at best, average players barring 2 or 3 who shine mainly because the rest are so poor, Jones being one of those shining last season. So given his age and importance to the club £18m in the modern footballing age is an understandable price. For us, whilst Jags is important, is he as important as Distin was last season? Or Neville? Two players who proved last season that there are some players you can't put a price on, simply because it wouldn't accurately reflect what they give to the club. Nobody, apart from Old 'Arry, would bid for Neville or Distin because their not worth more than 5 or 6 mil between them in today's market, but to us there worth £20 million each in terms of their dedication and spirit. However players like Rodwell, Baines and Jagielka are different because they still have their best years ahead of them. All three could be involved in the euros and the world cup, and all three probably would love to play champions league football and win trophies; and while I'm sure all three want to do that wearing an Everton shirt, if someone gives us enough money to replace them and buy another 2 or maybe 3 signings that could add to the team, can we really turn it down? Distin and Heitinga combined cost £11m, we could spend that on N'Zogbia and get another CB for £7m, with that we could probably buy someone like Onohuaha,or maybe Hangeland. We have to sell to buy, losing Lescott didn't make us capsize even though we only bought one good player from that money in Distin. If Arsenal give the right amount, I'd happily take it.
  7. Wouldn't Yobo's wages get in the way of a deal like that?

  9. I guess that's the point, Moyes would like to use these players when we're already cruising 2-0 and don't want to throw it away, or in cup competitions so he doesn't have to risk players. He's not supposed to be N'Zogbia, its why Charles costs £10m and Gueye cost £1m, there's the potential for him to become a ten mil player. However with our injury record it would be nice if Gueye turns out to be one of the shrewdest signings in recent times. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
  10. I followed the commentary, or whatever you would call it, on the facebook updates. According to them, Yakubu was looking "lean and mean", their words not mine, and Bily was flourishing in the center picking out plenty of good passes. Can anyone attest to this? If so, considering Arteta's success on the left before his injury, and Gueye and Coleman as options on the right, could Bily switching to a central role push Arteta out wide, or Osman perhaps? Or will we have 5 players duking it out weekly for two positions? Also if the Yak is indeed back and we still have Saha, Beckford, Gueye, Vellios and Cheebs are we really going to fork out for another striker? Or is Moyes going to try and get support out wide and try and blood in the youth? Personally if the Yak is really up to a level of fitness where he can run, not sulk, run for 90 minutes then it's a good enough striking solution considering our lack of funds. And to be honest, I think if all our players can stay fit for most of the season, there isn't anyone we can't beat on our day, and I don't think any of the teams we are up against have changed all that much. Time will tell, but I think if we can get lucky with a signing or two, maybe Donovan in january, we might be alright this season. However this is probably the last season where we can get away with it if we don't win anything this year. EDIT: Posted in the wrong thread, supposed to be a response in the Bury thread. Can someone move it for me, or shall I delete it and repost? I know I'm stupid
  11. This is how it always is, one of three things will happen this summer: 1) We sell a few players (Yak, Yobo etc) and take that small amount of money towards one or maybe two players of the same quality but maybe a few years younger, with a bit more potential. 2) We sell a big player (Fellaini, Rodwell, Baines) for enough money that we can buy 3 or 4 players of decent ability. 3) We do neither in which case we may receive towards the end of the window a random injection of cash to buy 1 half-decent player to go with a couple of free/loan players and we have to make do. Probably get Donovan on loan in Jan to give fans a bit of hope, but ultimately no more than that. Why does anybody expect any more than these 3 very generous scenarios given our history? We have to sell to buy, and we have bought more youth or youthful players than oldies and so clearly Moyes is doing his best to build a continuing squad throughout Evertons' ranks. Best case we end up like arsenal near the top but never achieving anything, worst case we end up like Birmingham winning a cup and then going down. The likely balance will be we end up around 7th or 8th and hope that a situation presents itself whereby getting 7th will get us Europe. Maybe then we can slowly build. Or until we get investment, let's just hope Dreamboats and Petticoats is a smash and generates a bit of revenue
  12. http://www.footybunker.com/everton-making-move-for-schalke-04-youngster/7676 It's all well and good to say that we'd rather N'Zogbia, but with Downing on his way to the shit stain on the other side of the park, it seems a likely transition that Villa will add him to their ranks. I think Moyes knows full well that the Premier League's "affordable" wingers are in short supply, so a move similar to the one for Bily (a relatively unknown player from a continental club) could be on the cards, as much as I and I'm sure Moyes would like N'Zogbia here. Even if it's solely based on him being an Everton fan, I find it somewhat reassuring that at least the rumours around Everton are regarding positions we need to fill, so I'm hopeful there's at least some truth in this. Then again it could just be more speculative journalism, but it's worth considering. What are people's thoughts?
  13. http://www.footie-online.co.uk/2011/07/everton-to-move-for-real-madrid-player/2403/ If this actually happens, then someone at Everton actually knows what their doing.....and that means the end of the world
  14. Bellamy won't be coming so we can forget that, and SWP I wouldn't want either. Coleman is better than him on right wing and I'd rather wait until we can actually afford someone decent to go there.
  15. Hope we can have 2 good cup runs next year to give these boys a chance to shine. I'd really like to see more youth in our season start as well, try and encourage some healthy competition before October when the big games start coming thick and fast. Even if just as impact subs younger players have a tendency to pick the game up and run with it, and it would be good to see some players like Barkley and Hope get the opportunity Coleman had to influence the team. saying that I hope he has a blinder next season too.
  16. Since when is Park under-rated??? Fergie only ever plays him in important games, he's usually one of the first on the sheet for Champions league and big cup games. He's got a fantastic work ethic, something we only have in a few attacking players on our team. He never stops running and I'd have him here in a heartbeat but it will never happen. Somewhere between Wes brown and park would be a good middle ground, I'd take John O'Shea or one of the Da Silva's on loan.
  17. I'd like to say Bill Murray.....but i think he means Bayern Munich And I would agree if only for the slight edge of the appeal of the Premier League. We could probably offer more first team experience as well. But this seems like another random link that just won't materialize.
  18. Bothroyd has only scored 5 goals since November 2010, and that was in the championship
  19. Injury? If he got injured and all we had was a bloke with a jumper and gloves on I'd get rather worried. Same regarding baines at left back. No competition needed, but two players who definately deserve the odd chance to rest during the season.
  20. http://www.grandoldteam.com/news/general-news/2011/jun/13/cahill-speaks-to-grandoldteam GOT: Who, in your opinion, is the most talented footballer you´ve ever worked with? Tim: Ross Barkley at Everton is a special talent. He has been unlucky this season with his injury but he is an immense player with a great attitude to football. He is so mature for his age and I think he is going to be a massive asset to Everton and [the city] Liverpool in years to come. I have been lucky enough to have played with some great players in my career but I do not think I have ever seen a talent like Ross.
  21. that's my one....but it's in spanish?? Either way the answer is still pepsi  The toy one was the one with Gary Coleman as well right? "You call this a galaxy of Prawns?" Yeah I remember
  22. I agree with the trepidation over this, it reminds me of The Simpsons sketch of future classrooms with an education run by Pepsi Cola However, I think that given the rate the sport is progressing, having a school run in principal by a football club could better balance the early development of young footballers without hampering their educational needs. The prospect of a qualified professional coach, rather than your mates dad, instructing young british players at an early level without detracting from the day to day learning seems potentially game-changing, as for example, I knew a lot of kids growing up quite adept at the game who wouldn't have had a chance at Cardiff's academy, and it's not that Cardiff's standards were the highest either...but maybe I'm missing the point with that. In any case I'd rather see us make a new signing than build a school
  23. Gotta weigh in, Bellamy was Cardiff's second best player this season. He had moments of brilliance coupled with an unrelenting attitude, he just never stopped running. Got injured a few times but was way better than Bothroyd and chopra and did well on the wings for cardiff as well. he won't play for everton though, he'll either come back to cardiff if the new manager is any good, or he'll stay and fight for a place at man city. either way, he won't be pulling on the royal blue jersey.
