  1. Okay I'll have a go. And yes, I'm 100% biased:

Howard V Reina - Reina is one of the few excellent signings by Benitez. Not the very best but still better than the overrated Cech in my opinion. Plus he's won the golden glove four years in a row or something.

Lescott v Arbeloa - Lescott edges it but I do like Arby.

Hibbert v Carragher - Carragher because I have man love for him but uh...

Jagielka v Agger - Jags is a superb defender but technically I think Agger is better. This is one I'd waver on but my inner red made me pick Dagger.

Baines v Dossena - Dossena is an alright winger but a pants left back. Baines is better.

P.Neville v Alonso - Alonso is our best player at the moment.

Fellaini v Mascherano - I'll say it IS close but I think that Arteta and Cahill are both more important for you. Mascherano makes us a different team.

Arteta v Riera - I really like Riera but Arteta is on his day world class.

Cahill v Gerrard - I kind of have to say Stevie. Plus I can't stand Tim Cahill.

Osman v Kuyt - Kuyt works hard but Osman is a better player, simple as.

    Saha v Torres - I won't explain why.

We agreed on more than I thought actually but feel free to argue.

Personally I'd play Skrtel in the first team and move Insua ahead of Dossena. Insua is much better.

I don't see the above as our strongest team at all.

  2. I'm afraid that's not true. The first time I heard the Munich song was at the Wembley derbies in the eighties.

For all the, "Those were the days, 100,000 singing Merseyside" nostalgia there was also a very significant minority singing about the crash.

Well, of course there will always be minorities. Some fans just take football too seriously I guess. It's only a game.

  3. I'll admit, I don't understand why some Reds fans claim that the derby means nothing.

When we beat you I get as much pleasure as when we beat any other team in the league. Perhaps if we beat the Mancs it'd be more pleasurable because of our current situation but Everton ARE our biggest rivals. I don't care what anyone else says. I hate other teams more than Everton such as Arsenal and Chelsea but I don't get nearly as much pleasure from winning.

It's the derby. These things are supposed to be passionate!

  4. i doubt anyone on here sings the hillsbourgh songs but itsnt it abit contridicting that liverpool fans love to sing about the munich air crash yet take offense to hillsbourgh songs, i mean for me both are jsut as bad and should not be sung.

One i like to sing is:

He is half boy he is half girl torres torres

he looks just like a transvestite torres torres

he wears a frock, he loves the cock, he sells his arse on albert dock

fer-nan-do torres, carraghers bit on the side.

    another decent one:

    he plays on the left,

    he plays on the right,

oooohhh mikel arteta, he'll make you look shite!

Munich songs are disgusting but again it's the younger generation.

Kids these days. It really hurt me though. My family were indirectly affected by Hillsborough and we are half red-half blue.

  5. Bill Shankly said a wonderful quote at Dixie Dean's funeral. (I'm sure Blues will take this the right way ;))

"I know this is a sad occasion but I think that Dixie would be amazed to know that even in death he could draw a bigger crowd than Everton can on a Saturday Afternoon"

    True quote.

I wish Shanks was still alive. To be fair, times were better then and people could actually take a quote like that as banter...

  6. I think someone has been taking drugs.

    They are better than us.

    Howard V Reina

    Lescott v Arleboa

    Hibbert v Carragher

    Jagielka v Agger

    Baines v Dossana

    P.Neville v Alonso

    Fellaini v Maskerano

    Arteta v Rira

    Cahill v Gerrard

    Osman v Kuyt

    Saha v Torres

I've highlighted who I think is the better player. That 5 blues against 6 reds. I wasn't sure about Howard vs Reina though. This would suggest its quite close - drop Osman and put Pienaar against Kuyt and I think on paper we are about the same.

To condradict myself I still think they are better (and have a subs bench).

You honestly think Fellaini is better than the Monster Masch?

Disagree with most of them but then I'm a red of course.

Although I'd say Osman is better than Kuyt. <_<

  7. A couple of points:2 - Evertonians are generally not deficient in a mental capacity, it is obvious you are a Liverpool supporter, your Username is lfc4life.

Yes, all Liverpool fans spell terribly. We don't have a clue. All Evertonians are articulate, wonderful people though. :P

    Note extreme sarcasm. ;)

  8. Celebrating history and moaning about history aren't the same thing Maghull.

It was you reds who complained about the competition rules in 2005 when the competition had ended............yes it was your fault as you certainly never qualified in the accepted sense. I find it quite amusing that Utd bend the rules a little and you lot whinge but when you break the rules totally it is always someone else's fault

If some one breaks your arm, stabs you in the back or makes you suffer through their fault then the injured party will not forget. The jibe that we are bitter blues hides a host of red blame, it is used as an excuse for your illegal actions, poor conduct and for that reason I much prefer the term Rancid Reds because it is far more fitting, remember we are the innocent party, your lot will remain guilty until the end of time

And people call reds self righteous?

  9. At 40 years of age , I'm too old to be bitter Doc ( :P ) , but sometimes younger Liverpool fans , bless their cotton socks , need reminding of a little history when they choose to look upon Everton as possibly inferior . Had I been bitter , and let's face it , I and many others would be able to justify it , then that would have faded with the years , from young men , unable to watch what was an exceptionally good team competing at the top , to middle aged hairy assed oldies keen to see the new kids succeed on a very low budget .

Listening to reds whining is no longer on my agenda :) Listening to reds putting us down ( and I'm not saying you do personally ) is about as enthralling as stubbing my toe on an open drawer :D

I'm fully aware that Everton are a big team and always have been. I'm aware that they could have been a force in Europe if Heysel hadn't happened.

And Mike, you are right, it's the truth. It is also a bitter statement though. It's a shame but you have to move on.

Having said that, my blue cousins and uncle still moans at me about being denied a place in Europe in 2005 (as if it was our fault ;))

  10. Not at all.....just bacause Reds say it all the time doesn't make it true.

I saw (as I've said) far more bitterness last night from reds (directed at your team, Everton, the ref, Rafa, each other, the crowd...indeed everyone but Gerrard) than I've ever seen on a blue forum.

As a Blue it might be hard to detect bitterness from your own fans, I do the same. It's what being a club's fan is about.

Was I bitter last night? No. Everton deserved the draw and I think you'll find that 90% of Liverpool fans will agree on that. On TIA the first post in the post-match thread was "No more than they deserved."

Being gutted and bitter aren't the same thing.

    And boy was I gutted.

Had you not got everybody kicked out of Europe , then perhaps Everton would have gained highly in the financial stakes , and may this day have been in a position to afford world class players , and compete for the title themselves .

I'm sorry, but that IS a bitter statement...

  11. What progress?.............You can't win anything without Gerrard, same as years ago! nothing has changed. You've spent entire fortunes to try and catch the others, and have only managed to win the odd cup with huge slices of luck and captain fantastic. This season Man utd, Chelsea and Arsenal are under performing, they have had poor form and injuries, if they had been strong and you hadn't started the season with your usual luck you would be at best 4th!

    Sorry but the truth.......progress!!

What would rafa be without huge amounts of money to spend?.....without Gerrard and Torres luckypool would be mid-table.

You still can win the league and even a few cups!......you can't without Gerrard.....FACT!

    AND YOU KNOW IT........Sorry!

Know it? I don't think it'd be too cocky a statement to say that out of the Everton team I'd only take Arteta, Cahill and Lescott into the Liverpool line up.

Nice attempt a wind up but it's a typically boring argument.

We're miles ahead of where we were 4 years ago. The idea that Stevie G and Torres make the team were pretty much proved wrong when we beat Man Utd and Chelsea with neither in the former and only one in the latter.

4 years ago YOU finished above us. We were UEFA Cup contenders. Now we're championship contenders.
