It’s how we’ve played all season. It’s not pretty. It’s been very effective in the games we managed to win, but not so much in many others.

He can't get the balance right, we are ultra defensive or playing a 433 where Gana is left on his own while the other two press and the front three offer little he needs to change it up fast or I fear he will be sacked too...

We played on the backfoot the whole game mate & could barely string a few passes together. Myko got forward a lot more than I expected & put a good ball in behind. Patterson is a gutsy player but you’d expect that against Celtic from him. Just felt like we soaked up pressure on our own 18 yard line, played 2 passes and then one of our CB’s chipped a ball to Maupay and it came back at us.

Tbf we had two fit midfielders so probably all we could do. Agree I would actually like to see a style of play and attacking patterns though.

  3. I like Frank, he gets us is a good communicator and galvanized us last season but there is no doubt he should be doing better but managing Everton isn't easy and sacking seven managers in as many years isn't progressing us. On one hand, he should be getting more out of them and tactically and with his in-game management, I have questions about him at times, but appreciate he is still a young manager learning himself. On the other hand, he's only had ten months, one transfer window, we are trying to rebuild a mess of a squad and I blame the squad more than him. Having to sell Richy and DCL never being available added to inconsistent wingers and Maupay who doesn't fit the way we play makes it difficult to get attacking patterns going. We have stripped away a lot of the creativity from the team in the last few seasons James, Digne, Sig, Richy even Bernard has gone that's most of our assists and goals. We have to credit him for a more solid back line, in general and some good midfield additions, now it's his job to find the balance, a double pivot with Iwobi ahead works best for me. Also, it's an unusual season we are only a third of a way through so it's hard to fully judge. So I think we give him January to get some attacking reinforcements if results and performances are still poor yes, then its time to consider his position because we cannot afford to go down. And if it's a rebuild you need to know what you are building towards a style of play or something, the fact we see no attacking patterns of play after this long doesn't speak well to him or his coaching team. But constantly churning managers is partly why we always end up in this mess, (it lets the wasters in the squad off the hook we need a manager to complete a turnover of the squad). Along with the financial and governance mismanagement from the board and owner..  So if you think sacking him will instantly solve our issues then I have bad news for you. Our issues are deeper than whoever the manager is...

When Arteta started at Arsenal you could see a lot of what he was trying to achieve even if it didnt come off all the time. The training ground work was clear even if the results weren't.

I think the same will also happen with Ten Haag. I only saw a little bit of the Utd game but I have kept an eye on Ten Haag for a while and the longer he stays at United, the more you will see his style of play come through.

We are clearly a much bigger job than either of those two sides seeing as we have got it so wrong, so many times in our recent past. We haven't seen that same stamp on the team from Lampard yet but there are a lot of reasons for that. I am hoping that we do start seeing some clear patterns of play, especially going forward because at the moment in feels a bit hit and hope.

Whilst we were comfortable for a lot of the Chelsea game, in the build up to the penalty we were all over the place. I think there is still a hell of a lot left to prove but I hope they do!

I agree and I think he would like to play a 433 high press like we saw in his early days but he changed when we got smashed a few times away especially away at Spurs and Palace. Now we are too defensive maybe be cause h doesn't trust the midfield to shield in a 433. He needs to find a balance I think we need to give him time and backing and remember this team was a mess when he walked in.

Bar Mykolenko and maybe more due to injuries than desire we should if we play a back 4 or 5 see 3 changes in defence, which was very much required as I feel our defending last season was our biggest problem. If we don’t have good defensive spell in the next few games then I’m concerned we will be in more trouble than we may think this season, I think we will be pinning a lot of hopes on Mykolenko Tarkowski Coady Holgate and Patterson shoring up the back line and keeping clean sheets.

It's why we need a Gana to shield the back four. Also I would prefer a 433. Presume he doesn't trust the back four though. It's going to be another big struggle this season and I mainly blame the board.

I'm feeling pretty fed up at the moment ands I can't wait for the window to close so I can know where we're at and what we're dealing with.

I'm just worried about our situation all the time right now. No one tell me to not worry about it because what will be or whatever bullshit you want to say, because it's really not that easy. If we don't get the signings we need then we are in deep, deep shit.

We all know Everton are well capable of fucking up a good situation but this time we're coming from a place where we survived relegation by the skin of our teeth, so god knows what catastrophe we could bring on ourselves from there .

It's not an exaggeration to say we could go into a bit of a death spiral if we don't get this right. Go on a bad run due to our ineptitude and Lampard could get the sack and then we need to start again, and fuck knows who the hell we'd hire this time. Lampard's making mistakes but if those above don't get him what he needs (or are incapable of it due to past mistakes) then it won't be on him.

I'm on edge every day waiting for us to get what we need. Some days I'm feeling up at the prospect of who we're signings, or who we're linked with, because they'll improve us. Then I'm shitting myself at who we're linked with or about the signings we haven't made yet.

The window being closed will at least allow me to know what I should be feeling.

I hear you mate the club is badly mismanaged the gamble of selling the player who kept us up and not replacing him with any forward is a game, a gamble that a forward will come in and improve us or that we have the funds to do so.i am worried.  If we have to sell Gordon to get the forwards we need he has to be sold, but it's on the board and owner that we are in this position. They cannot progress a football club they have proven it over and over, appointing Benitez last season and now not signing anyone to improve that attack is utter negligence after we just stayed up by the skin of our teeth last season!!!

Yes, we desperately need a striker...

AND, I worry about putting so much pressure on someone who has only ever played in the French league (with a few years in Germany.)

Whoever comes in is going to know a) we are in a dire need for production up top which carries a lot of pressure and b) they will be back-up once DCL is fit again.

Agree it's why we need two forwards

Think it’s a bit tough blaming it on the linesman mate. Poor back pass and just unlucky after a full blooded challenge to recover his mistake. Unfortunate but it happens.

Yes but the ball was also out. For a corner

It is interesting that nobody has voted for 15th to 17th place.

From the non bias outside world which takes our love of the club out of the predications - all the bookies have us roughly at 15th place and the so called 'super computer' has us finishing in 16th place.

It's because of how bad last season is and most other fans and the media are Lamps sceptics. But if we can improve on last season even with some draws we will do better than that. Granted losing Dom in the short term is a blow but the squad looks more solid if we can add some more creativity /fire power I fancy we will be lower midtable
