  1. Jags, Osman, MIkel for me lads (in that order). I thought Jags was brilliant, solid, did everything that was asked of him. Osman was everywhere, really impressed me with his work rate, that little run at the end was Messi like! Finally Knowbody better, he looked back to his best, sprayed the ball around well and looked sharp and controlled.

Beckford just misses out for me, however his movement was brilliant as ever, maybe if he'd have done the full 90 he might have got in my top three...

    MOM - Jags

Funny how people see the game differently isn't it?

  2. Fantastic first half performance from the boys! Happy with that, our movement has been second to none. Messed up a bit in the final third at times, sloppy passes etc but we shouldn't moan, vast improvement on the Bolton game. I think this must be the first time ever that Phil Neville's final ball's has been better than Leighton's!

  3. We have Baxter, Gueye, Joao Silva , Anichebe, Vaughan... All are talented youngssters and all of them are forward players.. But no one (except Anichebe) is getting enough opertunity to proove themself in the league.. May be some of them are loaned out.. The question in my mind is... Are we distroying these talents?

Well, that one probably won't be hanging around. But I'd play Gueye more before anyone else on that list. Mind you, if Victor can play for Everton I'm sure this Greek can give it a go.

  4. Also think DM dug his heels in a bit. VDM had a couple of decent pre-seasons when he played a lot but was then ignored for the real stuff.

I remember going up the road from me and watching him against 'The Vale' & he was fucking un-real! Granted against a pretty poor side but he just sprayed the ball across the park and made it look easy. I remember saying to my old man that we could maybe see him at his best 'this season' (think it might have been 2006/07). How wrong I was.

Whilst reading that article it made me think what a devastating waste of talent he is, I'd have chopped my nob-ead off to have an ounce of what he had on the ball. Just a shame he had the IQ of a door.

Now I know this is never going to happen, but maybe a 532 is in order, with Baines and Coleman as wing-backs? More or less the case anwyay, might look like this:

    --------------Howard-------------

    -------Johny Jags Distin------

    Coleman---Felli---Baines---

    ---------------Arteta---------------

    ---------Cahill--------------------

    -------Becks------Saha--------

Dunno about you lot but thats a damn good looking lineup.

    Moyes won't leave Phil out.

  6. I agree with Rubecula, this is a huge match if we win confidence will be high and the table is quite tight above us at the moment. This is a great opportunity to start moving up the table but so was the Bolton match...

And the game after the derby, the game after the United 3-3 match & the draw at Chelski, the list goes on...

But I believe that if we get a decent win on Saturday we will kick on. I hope the lads have got that buzz back. Its just a shame we couldn't bring in another Landon type figure in Jan, I believe with all that boost around we would shoot up this league. It's a different place than last season. A few wins and your right up there!

  7. I believe if Rooney would have stayed at Everton we'd have gone down. I honestly believe that.

The sale of Rodwell for £30 Million would be good for the club. I don't like to see us sell promising youngsters but needs must don't they?

If someone slapped down a sum of £30 Million I think we should bite their hand off. I don't know how far £30 Million would get us these days and I don't even know how much Moyes would get. But if £30 Million were to get Everton a new crop of Cahill's, Areta's, Pienarr's, Jags and Lescott's then I'm game.

  8. There's definitely rumours of Chelsea being interested and I'm sure they are, Fellaini is an excellent, young player who is getting better. It remains to be seen how serious they're interest is and what kind of character Fellaini is. I personally don't think he's leaving and I would be gutted if he did but if he does go to chelsea at least well get some money for him. Unless this turns out to be another pienaar situation.

I like Fellaini like the rest of us but i don't get decent vibes from here. I really think he's the type of guy that would walk out in a second. I don't think loyalty is game with him. So if Chelsea were interested I think he'd be the type of player that would hand in a transfer request no bother.

  9. Alright Louis and co.

We've been working on our podcast a bit over the past few months and thought we'd share it with you

You can hear episodes at http://www.evertonpodcast.com

From our first way back in 2005 (which was rubbish) to our latest one from last week, which is only slightly better

    Hope you enjoy it!

LOL @ 'partnership of Weir and Stubbs', brilliant. God, How old was David Weir? Is he actually still playing?

  10. If we beat Reading and i mean if, ive gotta feeling we may have a trip to Villa, anyway after yesterday as long as our performance doesnt drop we'l be a match for anyone! Just out of intrest who would you prefer to win Utd or Arsenal? Just incase we have to play them, i'd rather Utd myself!

Same here, we never beat Arsenal. I'm just worried about meeting Stoke and them taking us out. I'd never live that down with my mates.

  11. Questions and answers:

Would Moyes get paid off if he walks? - NO

Would Moyes get paid £65k+ a week else where? - NO

Would Moyes leave the club in it's current status? - NO

Could we get a manager experienced enough at working on a shoe string in the prem? - NO

Are there more pressing matters i.e sale of club, to address before the manager - YES

If we were sold, our debts wiped, and a plan in place to generate money would Moyes be reinvigorated knowing the Moutinho's, Fernandez's, Donovan's, etc could be aquired? - YES

conclusion... Moyes ain't going anywhere, he is clearly at his wits end with working on a budget, he could clearly do with shaking the squad up. For that to happen the club needs to be sold.

The "development" with the Echo could well be the start of some interesting news articles - they are owned by trinity mirror plc so we may find a few articles in the Daily Mirror, Sunday Mirror or The People. You can imagine the call

"Hi yes, bad news i'm afraid, the club have banned the players from talking to us, no exclusives anymore - sales may fall"

    "Really? Hmmmm, what's behind this?"

"Well, the fans are starting to get really frustrated, their voices aren't being heard, is the club for sale etc etc, the club are trying to silence things etc etc"

"OK let's run a national article, new owners will probably be more receptive to the local press - this may help get things moving..."

I hope your right Hafnia, it's an interesting theory. However, thats all it is. One thing I could see as plan as day during the Bolton game was the face on David Moyes. As you said he won't be going anywhere (AT THE MOMENT) - But in the Summer when he takes another look at the situation he will surely say enough is enough. David Moyes strikes me as a man of principle and the most important thing for him is moving forward. When the Summer comes no one would blame Moyes for walking. So unless you theory is brought into motion any time soon. I think we may have to look else where because Moyes will be 'giving it toes' as they say!

  12. Its a fiddle mate, my brother fits them and the Government give you a grant each year coz 'its green and enviromentally friendly'. Also the power generated goes back into the electric grid so you could end up in a situation where Manweb owe you money! Clever really.

Sounds good, maybe we can keep Osman after all!

  13. Think there is already five going to be sold.

Yakubu .. Leicester seems to think that its a done deal for £4m

Yobo .. is also a done deal for £5M.

Neville.. I think Spurs will pick him up in the summer £2m.

James Vaughan .. Crystal palace will keep him if they dont get relegated £2m.

Mucha .. is going back home £m ???

    Add to those ..

Bilyaletdinov .. Go anywhere and recoup some money obviously not in DMs long term plans.

Heitinga .. as above to recoup some money.

Hibbert .. a great servant to the Blues but would do a good job for Wigan OR one of the promoted clubs.

I would keep hold of Distin and Osman.

If you count the amount they would bring off the wage bill, plus the transfer fees, it should bring in about £30m.

That should pay off a bit of interest on the six, or is it seven loans we have made over the past 5 years. :(

I like your thinking mate but it may be a little high. Pip won't fetch over £1M, Yobo won't go for £5M, Palace won't be able to find £2M to stump up for one player and I can't see Yak dragging in more than £2M... Think that might be more realistic but I hope you are right.

  14. While David Jones wouldnt be the answer as far as many Evertonians are concerned, he's not the worst choice in the world.

Cardiff play some decent stuff and on a very, VERY limited budget. He's been there a while too so he's not one to complain about lack of funds (perfect for Kenwright).

He's arguably been more successful with Cardiff than Moyes was with Preston.

Certainly would prefer Dave Jones than some of the names mentioned here like Sven, Jewell, Lee Clark and did someone mention the Norwich manager who has done a good job?. Sorry but that just reminds me of Mike Walker and I dont want to go down that road again.

    What about NO funds...

    Alan Stubbs anyone?

  15. It's been a hard few weeks hasn't it? I can't remember the last time I felt so down about the state of my football club, thanks to David Moyes I've spent my teens in almost Everton bliss. Some fantastic memory's, granted not a shadow on what the children of the 80's or other great Everton teams may have experienced, but in contrast to the 90's the 00's have been a lot brighter up until this season. Things have reached the surface now and we are all getting worried. The actions of our board are leading Evertonian's into a cilvil war like state, it's not a good feeling but that topic is up for discussion all over this forum so I'll leave it there...

However, this weekend 6,500 Evertonian's will descend on the capital for the early KO, live on Skysport's with ticket prices sky high & at a time when everyone is skint. That in itself is something to be proud of. Even more so with the doom and gloom that sits over Goodison. It just shows the rest of the country what a big club we are. As a group of fans we are special.

I won't be at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but I know that every single person in that Everton end will get behind the lads and hopefully spur them onto victory, I don't like to say it but I've got a great feeling about Saturday, with the season we are having its a massive game. Lets be honest, are season will end if we get beat...

So lets put all this doom and gloom behind us, go down there and show Chelsea what our grand old team is made of and show them what a REAL Football Club is all about.

When Everton score I can promise you, you WILL hear me from Malaysia!

For 90 minutes lets pull together as a club, one for all, all for one! A proud club that can still cut it with the best!

  16. Hi Hari, welcome to the forum, I'm fairly new here as well!

Thats fantastic that you follow the blues all the way from India!

You support a proper football club in England, the People's Club...

Have you ever been to Goodison Park?

  17. I honestly think that in the current skint state were in, Bill Kenwright would more than likely look at someone like David Jones.

At least we know he'd jump at the chance of coming back to Goodison but I dont think it would be looked at as a positive step for Everton. Its actually going backwards and if it did happen he'd have to prove himself pretty quick or he'd be pushed out the door.

I think Kenwwright having plucked Moyes from the Championship would go that way again.

I think Kenwright and Dave Jones are friends aren't they?

We'd all like someone like Coyle or Billic. I don't think we could call it a step forward but it wouldn't be a step back taking either of them. However, my question wasn't you would we like? Thats to easy, we could all sit here and list Managers we want to take the helm.

Who realistically could we expect, for me, Maghull hits the nail on the head. Dave Jones would be in and we would start to back paddle. One thing is for sure, whoever does come in when Moyes goes has a very hard job ahead.

  18. I'm sorry for not doing anything to help lift the doom and gloom around here Gentlemen, so I'll apologise in advance. But I've been thinking, if David Moyes does walk away from our famous old football club in the summer, who can we realistically expect to take the helm? Lets be honest, as sure as death, the day will come when Everton and David Moyes part ways. I don't know if it will be next week or next summer but that day will come.

My question is simple, who would we attract as a manager, as a Football Club (due to our history and fan base) we still have a lot to offer and I don't care what anyone says, forgetting our financial situation we would still be an attractive outfit to any young and hungry manager...

So who and what type of manager would we expect, not which manager would we like?
