scouse
Reports emanating from Italy are linking Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton with a trio of Parma's top players. With Rafa Benitez looking likely to bring in a central defender in the summer, the name of Daniele Bonera has again resurfaced. Liverpool were linked with a €6 million move for the defender in January and the early signs are that a close-season bid could be forthcoming. At the start of the campaign Bonera was the subject of an approach from the European champions but a deal failed to materialise. Everton too are likely to be busy in the summer and the latest reports from the continent are linking them with Parma midfielders Vincenzo Grella and Mark Bresciano. It is believed both players are currently being monitored, with Everton boss David Moyes weighing up whether to lodge a firm offer.
Pat
Pat's actually quite familiar with these 2. Dont let the Italian sounding names throw you all, they are infact Both "Australian" Internationals. Vinnie Grella is your Neville/Carsley type, no nonsense Middle parked Pig..tackles,Passes,Tackles,Passe,Tackles.passes....But very good @ what he does. Mark Bresciano on the other hand is more the Tommy G flavour ( And a baldy) veesavee attcking flair ( Prob better actually) has a great eye for goal, strikes a sweet freekick & is happy to get involved all over the park. 2 of Gusss Hiddinks 1st picked in Australian sides every time. Grella is sometimes maligned & misses out for an attacking option, but is 1st ont he team sheet when a battle is nigh. Further info on the 2 they played jnr footy together as kids, then ended @ Empoli playing together & now are Both @ Parma...& who knows both to us perhaps, and are both in their middlish twenties. Grella would be deffo getable...... However Bresciano..As has been touted is gathering interset form the Milan's & Juve's of this world & may prove harder to snare. Bresciano has always impressed & has been Parma's star player this term. If we were going to make a move before the wrold cup would be advisable. If for some reason Australia made a 2nd round or more ( happens) then many of the players values would go north for sure.
MikeO
Thanks for the inside info Pat, if Hiddink rates them then they should be a good bet. I think it's scandalous the FA didn't make more of an effort to get Gus for England...looks like we're going to end up with Steve McLaren on the basis of two wins against Basle and Charlton FFS ! EFC fan in oz
Would love Bresciano but can't really see him wanting to come think he'd be happy to stay in Italy, Grella would be a good addition as well but do we really need another defensive midfielder, what we need is goals.
