2. Martin Taylor, February 2008. Later-than-late challenge by Birmingham defender shatters Arsenal striker's (Eduardo) lower leg, almost ending his career.

3. Steven Gerrard, December 2002. Liverpool midfielder launches himself into Everton's Gary Naysmith with both feet up and studs on show as the Merseyside derby boils over.

5. Emmanuel Pogatetz, September 2008. Middlesbrough's Brazilian midfielder somehow fails to do lasting damage to Manchester United youngster during Carling Cup tie.

Yeah apart from the FA charge and the 3 match ban and all that, totally got away with it

Got away with it during the match was where I was coming from.

"the 167th Merseyside derby is likely to be remembered for a horrible-looking two-footed tackle by Steven Gerrard on Gary Naysmith, whose scream of pain could be heard in the Main Stand"

The others all got red carded, Gerrard (surprise, surprise) didn't :) .

Yep , that was what I meant .

Being punished after the event serves no benefit to the team on the pitch .

Same with Kuyt .

Refs seem to miss challenges from certain teams now and again
