MikeO Posted April 11, 2011 Report Share Posted April 11, 2011 Not very nice seeing the field skirting a couple of dead horses on Saturday . Amazed that there are six deaths per thousand starts in steeplechasing overall....that's a hell of a casualty rate for people who supposedly love their horses so much isn't it? Lot of debate over whether to make it easier, people saying it's too long (though both horses died on the first straight so that wasn't an issue this year). Was reminded of (supposedly) the only harder horse race in the world....the Velká Pardubická in the Czech Republic...they used to show it years ago on World of Sport.
