Money Question

How much is it worth to Evrton to be in the prem?

I only ask because it is widely being quoted that for Swansea or Reading to get to the prem it is worth £90million, and I can't say I have seen sums like that quoted for Everton who are not only in the Prem but in the top half of the Prem.

Do you mean how much do we get based on where we finish? The figure of £90m is spread over several seasons and contingent on many factors (whether they go down straight away, the positions they finish in in the league, whether they get european football etc)

i think every position is a few hundred thousand increment, so for finishing 7th we should get a good few million, but I think the league winners only get around 18 mil is it? Not too sure on the exact figures but last time i checked every position was a £700,000 difference, so it's possible being 6 positions off top then we got somewhere around the 10mil mark at least, but how much of that was already spent through the season or will go to pay off debts i dont know

853,000gbp per place this year I think, Louis posted some figures in one of the other threads, not sure which one though....

There is money for simply being in the Premier league (Basic Award fund/Title Sponsorship Money) which sees the money split into 35 equal parts, each relegated club is given 1 part, the rest are given 2.

There is Commercial Contract Money and Radio Contract Money too.

There is money for being on TV (Facilities Fee fund), money from foreign tv rights (Overseas Broadcasting Money)

There is £800k per place (Prize Money fund)

Manchester United finished 1st say they get 20x 800k

West Ham finished 20th so they get 1x £800k

Plus Parachute payments which means that even if the club is relegated, they'd still receive £48million spread over four years (up from £16m spread over 2 years).

Everton are given money every year, we come to expect it now, that's why it's not mentioned ;)

If we came dead last we'd have £37million from being in the Premier League and £48million in parachute payments.

This is my guess for this season just gone (2010/11):

UK Broadcasting Money £38m

Merit Payment Fund - £10m

Basic Award £17m

Overseas Broadcasting Money £15m

Title Sponsorship Money £1m

Commercial Contract Money £1m

Radio Contract Money £1m

Total: £84million

So.. expect some record turnover news articles in April. ;)

So how does the money get allocated within the club then Louis? Do we have any ideas? I know that obviously a lot goes towards player wages and maintaining the club, but surely they have an idea based on the money we'll receive on how much can actually be made available for transfers? Even if we are broke surely finishing 7th instead of 17th means we've got the extra 800k per position, and the board can't base their spending on where we will finish so that money should be available to Moyes? Or is my thinking wrong on this...

I forgot about them, you've made me think I've made a mistake somewhere (but I can't see where). I think it could be because the new tv deal comes into force boosting income.

Catering is worth around £1m

Gate receipts were £19m last year, £20m the year before

EDIT - I don't think I've made a mistake, the new tv deal more than doubled from £625m to £1.4bn. What I have calculated is next season's deal with 2010/11's final finish and merit funds.

We're rich ;)

Im wondering where the big hole is? The one filled with 10 pound notes that is also known to me and you as our Transfer fund? We must be paying a small fortune in intrest on some huge loans then!

thats the million dollar question

Money given to the club for allowing tv companies to show games

"Facility fees - payable at discretion of Premier League to clubs which have provided facilities for live matches or recorded excerpts. Distributed throughout the season."
