Sentencing Of Serie A Match Fixing Trial

Recommended Posts

The Italian FA had to be seen to be doing something in the eyes of FIFA otherwise they would risk their international status.

Lets face it, Serie A brings in big money, but only because the big teams have big players.

Juventus are given preferential treatment as are Man U and Chelski, because they are the big earners. There will always be one rule for the majority, and one rule for the elite few, ie Man U and the FA cup a few years ago.

Italian League start delayed

The Italian Football League have confirmed that the new Serie A season will now kick off on September 10. The fresh campaign was originally scheduled to start on August 27, but that date has been deemed as unrealistic given another summer of controversy in Italian football.

Due to the various appeals with regard to the initial Calciopoli sentences and the threat of another tribunal hearing involving more clubs, the new season’s start date has been delayed by two weeks. Serie A will start on September 10 and come to a conclusion on May 27, 2007. Serie B will begin on September 9 and end on June 10, 2007.

Just been catching up on this one on teletex, what a f*cking shame the powers that be, have capitulated in the shameful manner that they did.

It would appear that the status quo must be maintained at all costs, the big teams will always be allowed more leeway than the smaller (less glamerous teams).

I just feel EUFA have lost a certain amount of credibility over this debacle.
