BLUEWOLF
Licker quoted not having the financial clout or talent to win the prem. In which he is right. Do you think things may had been different when I thought at the time in 1985 we had the team capable of winning the European cup in which we were wrongly denied ?. Bill
Thats another hypothetical question and one we will never know. Imo we had a squad of players who had the perfect mix of youth, experience, skill, and aggression. And would have frightened the life out of those foreigners. I'm sure they would have given a good account of themselves, and might have won it, but as i said we will never know.............. what a shame. MikeO
Whether we'd have won the European Cup or not (very good chance we would have..no question) it's certainly true that the club would have been in a very different state today. We'd have been attracting the best players rather than losing them to clubs playing in Europe (Steven, Stevens, Lineker off the top of my head) and would certainly have stayed in the "big" category of clubs. Don't think that's open to argument so sorry for stating the obvious but as you say Licker the precise consequence we'll never know.
