Personally never had much time for the man until he carried England through that Greece game, not just scoring the goal but one of the best examples of a captain leading from the front that I've seen, went up hugely in my estimation that day. For that reason I hope he makes it. Shouldnt have got as many caps as he did, David Beckham. Played a lot out of form, even when Wright Phillips and some others were possibly the better option. But now that he's here at 99, giving him his 100th game should be a fair option. I mean, he's given a lot to his country and some recognition for his loyalty would be a nice touch. I think SWP and Bentley are on a higher level than David, now. So maybe he could get a start in some friendly at Wembley and taken off so that he can get a standing ovation? Coming to think of it, i'm talking as if his international career is over here. Its not by a long shot, Capello rates him highly. He actually made his way back into Capello's team at the fag end of last season. We might well see some more of him in competetive games but SWP or Bentley are still the better options, IMO.
