NorthernToff Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 I'm Lifelong lurker that has registered to settle an office argument with my welsh colleague! He says Barry Horne spent some time as official Everton club captain as well as Wales captain wheareas I do not. Who is right? Quote
Louis Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 You've lost out, he has captained Everton and Wales in the past. Proof of Everton captainship - http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn41...24/ai_n14174722 Proof of Wales captainship - http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn41...24/ai_n14284342 I don't think we'll be seeing you post again after this! Bill Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Aaagh you beat me to it Louis. The move was initiated by Barry Horne, the former Everton captain, after a characteristically biting tackle and pass. The player who has inherited his mantle in midfield is John Collins. Quote
NorthernToff Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 Thats according to what might be an ill informed journalist. I stiill maintain I'm right Quote

GoldfishMemory Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Thats according to what might be an ill informed journalist. I stiill maintain I'm right Barry Horne has definatly captained Everton I'v been there to see it! Quote
MikeO Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 (edited) Barry Horne has definatly captained Everton I'v been there to see it! Captaining the side is different to being official club captain though isn't it? Thought. Wouldn't have Dave Watson been club captain during that time? Edited January 16, 2008 by MikeO Quote
MikeO Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 Dave Watson was made first team captain in January 1992, succeeding Kevin Ratcliffe. As he was at the club 'til 2001 and Horne was only there from 92 to 96 that'd suggest that, even though he did captain the team on the pitch he was never Club Captain. So it depends on your definition. Quote
NorthernToff Posted January 16, 2008 Author Report Posted January 16, 2008 Exactly MikeO. I know he captained the odd game but only when Watson was out. Quote
Calico Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 Some tight bastards will go to any lengths... Quote
NorthernToff Posted January 17, 2008 Author Report Posted January 17, 2008 Winnings? Well one of us thinking Evertonians could get our hands on a replica FA Cup if we can climb out of mid table obscurity in this quiz league. One of my questions was 'Which club did Barry Horne captain....' which led to the arguement yesterday. Anway have a go, my best score is 41 ... http://www.ilcmediadirect.com/quiz/ - Quote
