  1. Baines and Pienaar form the engne room of Everton working together as a pair feeding off each other on the left hand side of the field.Take one away and the other will fade. Both are honest hard working players covering the whole field and running their socks off for the side - more than can be said for quite a few others. At that price Pienaar was a bargain - his value should be measured by the results of his interplay with Baines.
  2. Romey 1878 - i must say a pretty accarate summary of yours there - well done. The other results have mostly gone our way especially M united losing and West B drawing. We just have to keep the momentum and hope for consistancy - then who knows what might be in store.I really enjoy the sensible comments on this site - not just moaning and swearing which is so easy to do.
  3. Everton played beautifull soccer in the 1st half and just closed Southampton down in the 2nd - some very positive signs of good things to come.David Moyes handled this one well.
  4. Hope Mr Moyes does not make too many changes too quickly - first make sure we have this one in the bag
  5. We could easily have had 5 or 6 by now already
  6. After the shocker of an opening goal Everton woke up and gave me great pleasure - especially showing that they can hit from the right hand side of the field - Go Everton Go
  7. Chelsea result not to bad - they are going to be up there anyway - Arsenal , Liverpool and Tottenham our main rivals for top 4 position. Really hope we get our 3 points today.
  8. What is the wheather like in Liverpool ? hope it does not rain so two attacking teams can play flowing soccer.
  9. The biggest mistake Everton made against Leeds was not the side they fielded, but rather their inabillity to adapt to the conditions. They tried to play attractive flowing soccer in attrocious conditions. On a wet day on long grass you make short passes and keep controll of the ball - you don't try and impress the spectators - you grind out a victory like Leeds did. In the end all that counts is not how beautifully you played - but rather what the scoreboard says.We have to win tomorrow if we want to run with the big dogs.
  10. Everton owes us , but will have to improve in a few areas. They must get their defense sorted - too many soft goals this season . They have to get their attack on the right hand side of the pitch going - they are far too predictable going left 80% of the time. The strikers will have to improve on their conversion rate - too many shots totally missing the target.Tough game but we should win - i predict Everton 2 Southampton 1.
  11. Any vote would be a toss-up. Nobody really stepped forward and shone - exept the ref for the wrong reasons. Giving this one a miss.
  12. Hello all - i am a 53 year old male from Malmesbury South Africa. My 16 year old son rekindled my interest in the game and we are both Everton supporters. Neither of us have played the game but we prefer it to rugby. What i like most about Everton is their character and attitude towards the game - they play hard but fair without too many stars or drama queens and with a relatively small budget. The team spirit seems to be good and there ain't too many weird okes in the side with exessive tattoos and way out hairstyles. I am a staunch supporter of fair play and i just love supporting the underdog because in a dogfight it is not the size of the dog that matters but rather the size of the fight in the dog! Everton can now concentrate on the league and hopefully we have had our share of bad refs for the season, so we can end in the top 4 - would't it be just wonderfull! English is also my second language - so sometimes it is difficult to express myself . Look forward to talking to and with you Evertonians.
