You’d think at the very least, a team set up like this would be defensively sound
-
I don’t know how Sam can look at our last game and think another defensive mid is answer.
Good to see McCarthy back. Interesting that we have brought two long term injuries, straight back into the starting line up

So if the team plays very well but here’s 1 player who steals the show and gets the votes, that means none of the rest played well?
i.e. the West Ham game; we won 4-0, but the only one who played well was Rooney!

I'm sold. I love his passion and the way he embraces players after substitutions. And what he does in the privacy of his own kitchen/bathroom is his business.
-
Went with Sigurdsson, covers so much ground and should have had at least one assist today. Thought the entire back four was good today, and credit where credits due to Cuco.

Feel a bit for Rooney. If you'd have told me before the season that he'd have 8 goals in December including a hattrick at Goodison and an equalizer at Anfield, i'd be over the moon. Its just the rest of our season has been so dire, its overshadowed his contribution.

scored a spectacular free kick against Ipswich yesterday, he's upto 6 goals in the championship now.

Still Koemans fault ?
He certainly didn't cover himself in glory during this debacle. Hopefully he has learned there is nothing to gain by telling the media you want a player sold; it only weakens your bargaining position.
Spurs have more congestion in their CAM role than we do and I doubt they will offer him significantly higher wages than we were. All this to get a signing on bonus and sit on spurs bench for 6 months before a World Cup?
I might be in the minoroty now; but I'd love him to sign a new deal now. And not for financial reasons, still thinks there's a fantastic footballer in there who can play a big role in the Everton revolution.

We've done a great job replacing Barkley, and not sold him, but haven't come close to replacing Rom. Seems all our business came to a screeching halt when Swansea starting playing hardball over sig.
Did we even make an official offer for any strikers this summer? Perez, Bony and Llorente all went today and would have improved us. Really feels like an opportunity lost after a window that promised so much.
So.. how bad is Niasse? Do Sambou or Henen hold the ball up well?

Isn't is a weird state of affairs when a £9m player is seen as a non starter...
And he's only the third most expensive teenager winger we have bought in the last 6 months..
-
That was a fantastic and timely bit of defensive work, but the he was pretty anonymous the rest of the time. expected him to come on and help our closing down and ball retention. Siggurdsson was clearly off the pace, should never been brought on in a game were we were crying out for fresh legs.

Think the subs really let us down, two big money midfielders coming on against 10 men and had zero impact.
-
Gana, Rooney and Pickford all very good, but Pickford was literally perfect today so he gets the nod.
I love the way he attacks the ball in his box.

has Zirkzee been confirmed?
-
not even on the bench for their first league game of the season
-
We also have Lookman.
and Mirallas. I don't think we are as devoid of pace as everyone is making out, seems all our players are being cast as slow by association after the signing of Rooney

Bot enjoying our usual possession. Can see we're missing Pienaar!
I agree, Oviedo is not giving baines many options. I really don't think he's a winger!
-
Impressed with alcaraz, looks a real Martinez style defender
-
How's this for a shout, Coleman is moyes' best ever value for money signing??
-
Really surprised to see alcaraz starting over Johnny! It won't happen, but I'd really like to see baines play in front of Oviedo

Everyone was great, McCarthy, Jags and Barry stood out for me. Gave it to McCarthy for highlighting what a fantastic bit of business swapping him for felliani was
-
Absolutely got away with one there.

Who was our DoF/responsible for signings during the Moyes era?
