  1. We have one of the best defensive records in the league. Our goalkeeper has the second highest number of clean sheets in the league. We've created plenty of chances all season. Our problem has always been an inability to score goals. It's doubly encouraging to see Chermiti have an excellent first start, and it's such a shame he never scored early on from McNeil's cross. I'd like to see him start up front in each of our remaining games. It's a great opportunity to get him some real experience and to see his confidence grow.
  2. The third game of consequence in less than a week. It's hardly surprising we looked tired.
  3. If only he'd managed to connect on McNeil's cross early in the game. What a start and confidence-booster that would have been.
  4. Fantastic result. Poor predictions - except for AlbanyNYToffee, the only one brave enough to predict an Everton win. Well done to Albany, and also to Palfy, for winning round 34 for 3 points. For the season, there's no change at the top.
  5. Not true. Chelsea have two 19-year-olds on their roster. So do Brighton and Manchester City and Spurs and Palace and Wolves and Luton and West Ham and Newcastle and Burnley and Sheffield United and Bournemouth and Liverpool.
  6. I voted for DC-L, but collectively our defence were phenomenal.
  7. Watching the replay on TV this evening, the difference between the two teams was our defence. They were absolutely awesome, all of them. How many times did Tarkowski clear the ball away? Godfrey made some awesome tackles. Mikolenko had a great game, and such a shame he had to be subbed off. Branthwaite had another wonderful game. Of course, DC-L grabs the headlines, but our defence won that game.
  8. Given whom we play in our remaining games, there's a realistic chance that, without the points deduction, we finish in the top half of the Premier League table. When did that last happen?
  9. Best manager in the league right now!
  10. Was watching the score during various conference calls - amazing result and, by all accounts, fully deserved! Looking out of my office window right now, I can see a flock of pigs flying overhead while snowballs accumulate in the fire pit. Time to buy a lottery ticket? I shall spend this evening watching the recording I made of the game.
  11. Optimism reigns! Everton 1-1 Liverpool Chermiti
  12. Everton wins the 6-pointer! Amazingly, no-one predicted a 2-0 scoreline. Romey gained on Boston Toffee and now trails by just 2 points for the season, setting up a close finish on the final stretch.
  13. Round 32 and the game we'd all rather forget. Mike) scored 5 points, and Boston Toffee recovered to extend his lead for the season.
  14. He wasn't dropped; he was sick. Moreover, he was included in the senior England squad against Belgium.
  15. I'd prefer Trafford: younger and with enormous potential.
  16. It takes time for many to adjust to the pace and physicality of the Premier League. We expect foreign players to simply jump in, and some are able to do so, but others take time. I would expect Beto to steadily improve and, if we're patient, he could become a major asset.
  17. Just for the record, there was no sarcasm intended whatsoever. What I wrote, I meant quite literally - and thank you for recognizing that and taking it that way.
  18. I’m so glad you were very wrong. I’m sure you are, too.
  19. I'm still hoping he'll announce at the last minute that he's stepping down and his party appoints a sensible alternative. In the meantime, anticipating the flood of Trump supporters from out of state who'll come knocking on my door to canvas support, I'm ordering an 'Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for president' baseball cap and an 'E. Jean Carroll for vice-president' T-shirt to wear when I greet them.
  20. Driving to Alabama yesterday to see my daughter and her family, it was shocking to see, even now, "Trump won" signs on stores, crude accusations against President Biden on trucks, people wearing shirts with Trump's mugshot in Atlanta proclaiming 'innocent', and more. Clearly, Trump and his supporters are very visible and vocal. Where have all the reasonable people gone?
