  1. Things looking dire for Hull right now. Losing to Spurs while Newcastle lead QPR.
  2. Great effort on that free kick. Unlucky, Lukaku.
  3. Barkley - that was simply awful.
  4. For the record, Galloway had a solid enough first half.
  5. A squad represents a selection of talents and abilities that can be combined in various ways to emphasize your strengths and defuse the opponents' strengths. As was suggested, maybe Galloway is in there because his strengths are more appropriate against West Ham. Football should be a game of strategy, not a soap opera. If individuals get hurt simply because they don't get to play in a particular game, they need to get a life.
  6. It's not unlike some entertainers threatening to leave for Canada whenever the Republicans win, or others threatening to leave for Texas when California pass yet another regulation. Mostly sore losers who will get over it with the passage of time.
  7. And it looks as if Europa would play second fiddle anyway. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/everton-boss-roberto-martinez-set-5699323
  8. But his picture might be painted on the bogs as something to aim at.
  9. Lawrenson at the BBC website. Quite amusing.
  10. Ah - then you didn't read the other fine print: "All complaints determined to be invalid shall subject the complainant to a fine equal in points to the number of words in the complaint." So, I believe that's 45 points deducted - plus my legal fees.
  11. The rules do cover this situation. From the opening message in this thread... - If Everton fail to score, no one gets any points for predicted goalscorer. There's always 'fine print'. Incidentally, for Matt's benefit, I've been interpreting 'no scorer' as 'own goal'. That way, at least he has a chance of a point.
  12. "If you correctly predict the outcome of this coin toss, you get to keep the coin. Heads or tails?" "Neither." "OK, then there's no need for me to toss the coin." "Great. I win. Thanks for the coin." :)

  14. I can see I'm going to have to tighten up the rules next time around.
  15. Another one from the Anderlecht system. I wonder whether he and Lukaku know each other, even played together, from their time there.
  16. Are there any players we should try to recruit from the relegated teams? Danny Ings to join Lukaku up front, for example?
  17. Preferably the most phenomenal one available.
  18. Very poor form, this. Risking this year's Christmas card, if you ask me. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-32697212
  19. If there was one glaring lesson to learn from this game, it's that we're useless at taking advantage of corner kicks.
  20. Every commentator, and even the Sunderland manager, agreed that we totally outplayed them. Statistically, it happens sometimes that the far better team still loses. It was something of a fluke. I don't understand all the hand-wringing. Both of their goals were lucky flukes. We hit the post and did everything but score. If the team played terribly, I could understand criticism, but not when we, 99 times in a hundred, would have won a game like that.
  21. I was waiting! Of course, everyone has the right not to vote. That's a basic freedom. However, by making that choice, don't you forfeit the right to complain if the outcome is over than you would like?
  22. McCarthy. He's been given license to score in the last couple of games, and it's made a difference.
