Alright lads,
That was a bit shit really. Think it's fair to say we were better in the first half, but in the second half Allardyce shut up shop and saw it out for the win. We were unlucky to hit the woodwork, unlucky that Darlow spilled it at Rooney's feet and unlucky that Diame hasn't yet been exposed as the charlatan he is.
We've been playing ok, but a combination of bad luck and bad players has done for us in more games than i care to remember.
Shelvey is stupid cunt, for what it's worth. Sure he's got talent, but what's the point in it if he's sat in the stands for yet another suspension? Hope the lads that made it up had a good night. Shame it was a weekday, Saturday games are much better

Geordie in peace here.
We're not playing well, dunno how anyone can think that. 1 point from a possible 21, 6 losses in 7.
Not a lot of optimism on Tyneside, understandably. Most hoping that the takeover gets sorted out sharpish and we can spend a bit of money in the January window and buy some actual footballers.
Personally, I'm expecting a poor game decided by the odd game, you've more match winners than us though, so I'd expect yet another loss.

We'll roll these over because they play exactly the way some of you muppets seem to want Everton to do. They mindlessly attack and have no thoughts about defending. I'm sure their fans love being relegated every other year.
Dunno what team you've been watching, but it isn'tt Benitez's Newcastle. At best we're pragmatic. We look to allow the opposition to have possession in their half and away from dangerous areas. Then hit back on the counter or take advantage of set pieces. Utter nonsense to suggest that we "mindlessly attack".

Sam has inherited a squad that isn'ttt exactly bristling with super star attacking talent so it HAS to be a bit defensive until he can add more effective players.
Rooney, Barkley, Sigurdsson, Calvert-Lewin, Klaassen, Lennon, Lookman... yeah, you're bereft of attacking talent. Wanna buy Joselu?

John played RB at Barnsley, so a season. At Everton, he played there sporadically when we needed him to before he became a fully fledged CB.
He's NOT a left back, that's for sure. Although I do think he's a steady LB when needed.
I'd be amazed if we don't play him LB, perhaps it's just match experience for him before he shifts centrally for you next season?
Whatever position he is, he's a footballer and as such a vast improvement on Paul Dummett.
-
He's a very capable LB but was only played there to cover for Baines (& Oviedo) whilst injured.
As a left footed CB, he was the only defensive Left foot option we had.
He is a CB and most fans want to see him develop as a left sided center back. No point in him developing his game at LB, when his future position needs experience.
Edit - John Stone started as a RB. Now a very capable CB and that's who we thought may partner him. Physique isn't an issue.
How many seasons did Stones play at RB, before he made the switch to CB? Could a season in the Championship benefit Galloway's development in terms of match experience, regular games etc.
We see him as a CB because he is a CB.
He's never a LB for the modern game, he played there for us because he's left-footed basically. He is poor going forward; he can't cross very well, he's not particularly quick. And defensively he gets caught the wrong side far too often because being all the way out there is not his natural game.
Sounds like Dummett, which is a concern. We need a specialised left back, not a centre back who can play there if needs must.
Cheer for the answers lads
Sounds like a rich man's Dummett.
-
Then I hope you don't sign him.
Genuine question; He's listed as a LB, he's played 2/3rds of his professional games at Left back, why do the Everton fans see him as a centre back?
Does he offer little going forward, is it his physique?
-
i agree but i think the press thinks he's a LB since he played there for RM. Ron has him at CB for all pre-season matches so i think that's where he will play. Colocini retired so there are spots up for grabs there.
If we do secure him on loan, we'll definitely play him as a Left Back. It's our weakest position by miles and we're so unbalanced without a decent LB. We're well stocked at CB, with Mbemba, Lascelles, Hanley, Clark & Dummett.
They have Dummet at left back who has been one of their better players over the last few seasons (and a product of their academy) so would hope Galloway will get time at centre back for them.
He fundamentally hasn't been one our better players, he's a really limited fullback/centreback. Zero pace, little technique and poor positionally, I'd get shot of him if we didn't need a big squad for the extra fixtures.
re: Mitrovic, he isn't the mentalcase he's made out to be and it was only the red against Spurs that was nailed on. He puts himself about a bit, and he's got a nasty streak (which I like in a striker), but with more support and more experience he'll learn how to dance that fine line. I'd be surprised if he left, on loan or otherwise as he's our best striker and the kind of physical force Newcastle will need if we're looking to bounce straight back up from the Championship.

All right lads, in preparation for the new season I thought I'd get the lay of the land from Premier League clubs before it kicks off and the majority of us are too depressed to answer a bunch of questions from a stranger.
What's a realistic aim for your team this season?
Where do your team need to strengthen to achieve this?
Which new Premier League players are you looking forward to seeing?
Which of your players do you predict having a big season?
Which of your players do you expect to have a disappointing season?
Which fixtures do you immediately look for?
Which away game are you looking forward to the most/least?
What's your most memorable game against NUFC?
Newcastle have been in the papers for all the wrong reasons again, what's your take on the Kinnear debacle?
Which Newcastle players would you like to see in your side?Pardew winds up quite a few opposition managers, what's your take on him? Is he just playing games? Or is he an Average/Bad manager with a mouth?Where do you expect Newcastle to finish this season? Thanks in advance for any and all answers. I'll be back here to collate them before sticking them on a Newcastle site before the season kicks off.

re: Shelvey, he's a bell end, no doubt. If we could stick that vision and wand of a right boot in the body of someone who wasn't an arsehole we'd have some player. That red card against Spurs, and the second yellow against you lot were 2 of the most pointless red cards I've ever seen. Begs the question why Benitez won't play Mitrovic? I mean, the kid can score in the top flight, is more of a presence up front than Gayle or Joselu. Sure he's a madhead, but at least when he gets sent off it's because he's lost his rag.
Oh we didn't deserve to win the game, no way. Can't think of many saves you had to make and the ones you did were fairly straight forward.
Sooner Ashley goes the better, he bought a midtable club that was in Europe 5 out of 6 previous seasons, and he's turned us into a joke of a club with 2 relegations and a litany of PR disasters. No one knows what's happening bu there's all kinds of rumours going round. The new owners want to compete with Man City and have the funds to do it, the new owners want to continue to run the club on the cheap as Ashley is, the new owners are more like Venkys and nowt like Abramovic/Mansour. To be honest, I'd be happy as long as they're ambitious on the football side of things. I don't care if we regularly finish 10th in the Premier League as long as we're trying to do better, trying to get further in the cups, trying to play decent football.
