  1. Never change a mostly winning formula. The way some of yous are going on you would think we were in Newcastle's position. We've got so much to play for. No time for experimenting now.

The vote is currently 12 to 3 (I'm one of the 12) - so most people agree with you, myself included. Personally I've just said that for 'a game' it's something that might be worth considering. It's hardly wild and dangerous experimentation to rest one player and replace with another first team player against a team that can't score at the moment :)

  2. Id like to see:

    .................Howard..................

    Coleman Stones Distin Baines

    .......McCarthy.. Barry..............

    Gerry ......Mirallas .....McGeady

    ................Lukaku .................

That is a serious amount of pace to worry Newcastle with.

Also, Stones should keep his place in my opinion for 2 reasons. 1/ he's earned it, 2/ Let Jags come back for Fulham to give him some game time before Arsenal

I'd be very happy with that team, and also equally happy with Barkley coming in for Mirallas, either way looks good to me. Rest one of Barkley or Mirallas and give the fresher legs of Gerry and McGeady a chance to rip them a new one :)

Edit - I seem to have forgotten what I wrote only an hour ago haha, where I said play Barkley and choose between Mirallas and McGeady. Combine my two posts and I guess I have my own answer.... Gerry, Barkley and McGeady for me, and rest Kev.

  3. I feel sure that Osman and Deulofeu will start. They were rested on Saturday. Wouldn't be surprised to see Mirallas on the bench since he played the entire match against Swansea.

I agree about Gerry, I think he'll start. Not sure about Osman, personally I'd rather it was Gerry, Barkley and either McGeady or Mirallas as the 3 supporting Lukaku

  4. Barkley was fantastic in there against Liverpool in the second half. Cant see any reason why we would suffer against other sides with him in there. In fact I'd say it was one of his best games a long with Arsenal away in the league.

About 3.20 he moves into central midfield next to McCarthy

Something needs to give because we've been very poor.

    Mccarthy Barkley

    Mirallas Naismith Mcgeady

    Lukaku

You've won me round I'd be happy enough to see that line up tested out for a game, it would be interesting to see how it goes.

  5. MC isn't saying completely abandon the Barry/McCarthy partnership because there's no doubt it's been one of our most positive aspects this season. He's saying that we need to mix it up when things aren't going our way, make a change in order to make a positive impact on the game. And to do that he's suggesting taking away a defensive player and adding an attacking outlet for us.

For years we moaned about Moyes being rigid and not having a plan B. Now someone's suggesting a plan B because Martinez doesn't have one to fix our poor attacking play (at the moment) and people just want to keep things the same, even though it's clear we have a problem and need a solution :dont know: .

That's fair enough, and I'm also just offering my opinion and I have no issue with anyone else's :)

Personally I believe we should start with Barry and McCarthy and plan B should come during the game if required, if things aren't gong well. Hence my vote above :)

  6. Take away one of Barry or McCarthy and replace with Barkley playing 'box to box' and the full backs will be even less of an attacking threat due to us having less defensive cover. Barkley will also be less of an attacking threat because he will have greater defensive responsibilities. Barry and McCarthy have been two of the best and most consistent players all season

  7. Yeah, thats my point...he wont go to the first club that comes calling.

But Dunc, you disagree?! You even point out the Villa and pool thing...but still disagree?!

    Bizarre.

I could be wrong, but I think the confusion here was that Dunc thought you were saying 'he won't jump ship for anyone', as in he won't leave no matter who comes in for him? Whereas what you were saying is 'he won't jump ship for JUST anyone', as in it would have to be a huge dream opportunity for him to go. Correct me if I'm wrong though but I think that was where the crossed wires were? :)

  8. I still want them to win actually, sent this to my mate :

I want Utd to win it, so long as Liverpool come 4th. Just so Utd steal that CL place and finish below us in 7th. That would be ideal!

i'd laugh my fuckin cock off

But then 4th would only get Europa, so we'd definitely have to finish 5th or miss out on Europe at 6th place. (I think!!). Although I do think we'll finish above Spurs anyway :)
