  1. Ah, so when you think someone doesn't understand something you've said/posted your first instinct is condescension? Really, just top work.
  2. A straw man AND a slippery slope argument in one post. Top work big man!
  3. Now I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic now so I'll make it simple: Look at those numbers, its possible that 100% of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland could have voted remain and if enough people in England voted leave, then leave it would be and you think that is democratic? Really? Try and actually answer the argument without resorting to ad hominem if you want ant credibility too. (born and bred in Sandbach, Cheshire)
  4. I'm not being sarcastic at all, there was no requirement for a double majority which is absolutely incomprehensible. Even in the US presidential race you cant just win the big states, you need electoral college votes to make sure the small states are as influential as the big states. eg Hafs argument is that he wants British politicians to make the laws for British people, while English people have just decided that Scotland and N. Ireland is leaving the EU. Are you sensing any irony?
  5. Yeah it could have easily happened, England has the population numbers.
  6. Would you have called it democracy if Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland had all voted to remain but the popular vote was still in leaves favour? That was possible and doesn't smell very democratic to me.
  7. Contracts are to protect both parties interests though and they're not all the same, Stone's would have been very heavily in our favour, cant say I would assume the same about Rom's, one way or another though Rom is getting an even better contract, you can take that to the bank, so my preference when all things are considered is to move him on.
  8. Obviously contracts are enforceable but they can't really account for human behaviour, and John Stones and Romelu Lukaku are completely different characters, my point is that if someone want to go and its good business we shouldn't make a habit of standing in their way. Given you know we are holding all the cards, I assume you have seen his contract?
  9. I know we like to think we hold all the cards (and I've said it myself before) but in reality we don't, contracts are really just to protect your investment and we should have that at the forefront of any actions we take, it feels to me he has been a very disruptive force in the team since he signed. I'd be really happy if we could cash in and move him on, and stick to signing players that feel/act like they're Everton players.

  11. Are there any specific EU rules that you didn't like or just a general problem with being an EU citizen? As far as I am aware you have two houses of parliament that can legislate for Britain, and as far as this thread goes your reasons for wanting to exit seem pretty much rooted in nativism which is pretty right wing.
  12. It is, and we have a preferential system so if your first choice doesn't get up, your preferences flow in the order of your selections, we also democratically elect our upper house. How you can have a first past the post system in this day and age and call that democracy I have no idea.
  13. This. That said it's clear now that Martinez couldn't handle him, maybe Koeman can do a better job.

  15. That Avaaz tribute didn't read any more than "continue her work" a typical obituary for people who are passionate, fighting for other people rights and in public life, particularly those who have died before their time at the hands of an ideological nutcase A far cry from this:
  16. "Making this kind of argument always sounds like a personal attack. It’s not. Lukaku is very talented." 183 pages of the thread agrees with this quote.
  17. His old mans fault, nothing good ever came from training at the Dunning-Kreuger academy
  18. He'll win a golden boot at the next World Cup though, because he'll be 25 then /schadenfreude.
  19. I can only assume that the manager announcement is only one of many to be made at the same time, we can expect details of the corporate restructure and the new stadium at the same presser, hence the wait
  20. Saw this on that page too, thought it might be fake but looks pretty close to what gets reported, we're desperate for a good sort out.
  21. That's quite interesting, I thought the general thinking was that most strikers peak around 25. When do you see Harry Kane peaking? His improvement seems to be exponential compared to Rom.
  22. "I am an ambitious guy, I want to win trophies, like all other players handled by Mino, like Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic." That sounds like something he's repeated after being hypnotised by the agent. I almost sprained my eyes rolling them.
