My verdict is still out on Martinez. Great first season but with mostly Moyes team. I'm not entirely convinced by him yet. I'm not unconvinced either but to big him up like he's some demi god after one season is tacky and smacks of desperation in my eyes. I'm sure others will have different opinions and that's fine but stunts like this usually have a habit of biting you on the arse. I can smell the Liverpudlians laughing at us over this for years to come.

Who cares if they do? They've provided me with a relentless stream of laughter over the last 8 years that doesn't show signs of stopping. Besides, we're not the only Mersey team who might be looking at a disappointing season.

Exactly. We could finish mid table this season the bottom half next. It' all smacks of counting your chickens before they've hatched.

We could, but the club are confident we won't, hence the mural. It reflects what is probably our most marketable asset at the moment and the sole reason we can attract players like Lukaku while holding on to our talented squad. We could end up mid-table, but it would be a mistake not to capitalize on the momentum Bobby has generated since his arrival based on Moyes-esque fears and doubts. I, for one, welcome our new classy, Spanish overlord.

There was never the slightest chance of us landing Vermaelen. If I was posting on this thread earlier, I would have followed usual Unobtainable Player Protocol and pretended I didn't want him.

Now we have a Mohammed and a Christian on the team, maybe we should be looking for a Buddha Smith?

 

I'm a big fan of Zoroastrian O'Hara, great turn of pace and I don't think he's ever given a bad cross.

I can only speak for my own cat, and I can certainly vouch for her indiscipline.

I'd be made up if we got him. I think he can be hit and miss, but then so can Barkley, McGeady and Mirallas, betweent four of them if two or three turn up on match day we'd be fine.

 

He seems like a player who needs to be told how good he is to stay on top of his game, Roberto is the master at saying how good players are.

I'm with this chap. Ben Arfa needs to be rolled on his back, have his bellly rubbed and told he's a good kitty. If I played under Pardew, I'd probably turn into a violent offender.

The general consensus is that this has been sorted and will be announced at some point today.

The chief source is still the Mirror so I'm going to remain skeptical until it's done. If their reports were 100% accurate this year, our squad would be Leon Osman and a ragtag squad of windpeople and the reserves that Martin Lipton hasn't heard of yet.

Maybe it's his size that's the problem. He's like a human red giant star whose muscles can unravel if you whisper to them.

I'd like Micah Richards, he'd provide us with decent depth. Maybe if we sewed him into the jersey good and tight, it might hold his body together.

I don't know, his best position is Minister for Finance and I think we're too short in other areas to worry about that at the moment. I hear he's not so quick these days either.
