  1. Yep, but if it wasn't lukaku our number 9, there would have been someone else, who would score us some goals and earn some points, so these 9 points could have easily be won(or at least half of them) by another striker, and we would still be at the same position. So as a conclusion, Lukaku's goals are more influential towards our team spirit during the season other than the final result itself.

  2. So how does this rumoured £15m loyalty bonus work?

He will earn £15m as a bonus, and the sum will be paid on weekly/monthly basis for the duration of his contract. For example 2 year contract has 24 months which means he will earn extra £625k each month over his basic salary. If the club decide to offload him early, then the remaining of this bonus should be paid in full before he leaves. If the player force exit, then the club has no obligations to pay the remaining of the bonus. That's why it's called loyalty bonus.

  3. I don't wanna sound like a racist, because I'm not. But from what I've seen footballers with african roots tend to peak early, so I don't think Lukaku can improve much further. We should look for a price which reflects his current ability and I if we do I doubt we will regret that we didn't get more for him later. £75m - £80m is a good deal imo. Pickford + Davy + £15m worth more than Lukaku.

  4. From what I've seen I don't find him much impressive. Poor ball control, mediocre technique. £40 million is way overpriced. Portuguese league is shit anyway. Except the big three, the rest are comparable to English League Two and this guy doesn't look like a rising star among these inadequate players around. At that price, I would rather pass.

  5. Joe, you should go on jackanory, that's great story.

I look at it this way, it would take about 30 seconds for him to write his name on a contract, it would cause no hassle to Spain or Malaga it's as simple as that.

Everybody in the papers, and on the TV keep saying it's a done, but ffs it's not a done deal til he signs a contract.

He's taking the piss and we are doing fook all about it.

Maybe it's done but both parties have agreed to not announce the deal until Euro ends? It's not as simple as you may think as a proper announcement must include photos in blue shirt, interview and so on, something that can distract player's mind.

  6. I agree mate, we've heard some real bull shit as to what is or what isn't happening, and I hope the club aren't pandering to his wants, the last thing we want is another prima donna who thinks there bigger than the club.

To be fair rather you and Bill sound like prima donnas. What I know is that nobody but the club insiders knows what the real situation is, so please stop moaning.

  7.

Ossie and hibbert prime examples and yet we throw money at them and keep them cause "we owe them for being a good servant". i wish we didn't take that approach.

I think it's best to let him run out his contract. He's still pretty useful and can help us in his final year and leave with dignity.

  8. I don't get most of the people on here with their concerns. "He made tons of goals and assists in shite league" does this mean he's good or shite? I don't understand what do you expect, to buy established players from top clubs in top leagues....??? Well these won't come here, let's face it. Klaassen is one of the most appreciated talents out there who is in our reach. No one knows whether he will succeed or fail, but that's football. We actually have to bring someone in order to improve and every new signing comes with the big risk of being a mistake.

  9. I rate him highly. Surely the best Ajax player. He's a weird mixture of playmaker, finisher and box to box midfielder. Not the best in all three, but excellent overall as he can provide very versatile mixture of abilities. I can easily compare him to late Rooney under SAF, playing behind the striker. Has to establish himself though.

  10. He's not a №9. Only 175 cm. He can do the job as lone striker occasionally, but is of better use on the wings as an inside forward. Especially good on the left with his great dribbling skills and technique accompanied by good finishing and quickness along with reasonable vision and passing abilities can be a real threat with his strong right. Also he's consistent free kick taker, so it would be a steal if we can close the deal. Fingers crossed.
