Fear and Loathing (USMNT 2018)
Ghoat replied to Ghoat's topic in General Football and Sport Discussion
To the Euro-snob thing, the only time I really got into MLS, was when Tata was at ATL United. In part because they were new, and only a 2.5 hour drive (amazing stadium and atmosphere) but mainly beavuse the football Tata had them playing, especially with Martinez and Almiron. Since Tata left, I have lost interest in ATL and MLS as a whole, generally. Double whammy he left ATL for El Tri. Unlucky for him that Mexico is in a generational transition at the same time the US young players are maturing throughout Europe, and a wealth of young prospects are beginning to come up through the ranks. If we can just get someone to cement the number 9. I still think it can be Sarjent, and have hope for Dike. Zardes for me kind of epitomizes the USMNT of old. He is not a great footballer - technically questionable, often has concrete feet on his first touch... but absolutely works his ass off for 90' plus, grinding away more on athletic skill and determination than anything else. I roll my eyes when he starts, but I personally find it impossible to not like and respect him. -

It's gonna be fairly rough, 3 games in 7 days on the international break in September and October. That's why that depth coming from the Gold Cup was so welcome. But I certainly like where we are heading in. -

That was a pretty big win, seeing what the squad was during the Gold Cup. I don't think anyone on that roster would make the starting Xi, and maybe only a few would make the bench. But that was a great tourny for that group, and Berhalter. They had to just grind out results in almost every match. Really good experience and looks promising for depth. I think it was a big loss for Mexico, rough summer for their homophobic chanters, losing cup finals to both the USA 1st and 2nd teams. Hate it for em. Tata may be in the hot seat, he is something like 30-3-4 but 2 of those loses are to us in Cup finals this summer. I'd love it if they ran Tata off, because I think he is a great manager. -
And actually we did change keepers, Virginia is in
-
Keane and Digne look like only 2 that stayed on
-
New team 2nd half. Looks like we changed everything but the keeper
-
Pretty good half for Kean, Gray and Davies. I don't think Townsend has more than 6-7 touches, he was invisible that half
-
Ref missed a blatant handling on Kean's volley, but pretty sure Kean was offsides on the goal anyway, so we're even now

Is there an audio stream, twitter maybe?
-
ESPN is fucked up too, should have stayed my ass in Orlando another night I guess!
-
They have played one league game
-
ESPN stream is janky too. "your event is experiencing technically difficulties". God knows ESPN televises enough events from Camping World Stadium. Jackasses

I hope there is footage of that somewhere... -
You should have heard the guy announcing the starting lineup, he butchered about half the names. But it was a good time, was right behind the goal for the shootout
-
I believe it's on ESPN2 for those in the US
-
Boo Plus it's New Jersey, did you lose a bet?
-
They refunded all the tickets, and the new tickets are like $20, so that's a bit more reasonable. Kick off is 2.5 hours earlier on Sunday I believe. Little disappointing to not get to see Arsenal and Inter, but the 20 year year old (she's full vax as well) and I will just go down Saturday stay with a friend, and try to make the best of the day Sunday. With my Everton mask of course

Hang in there brother, sending good thoughts

There will always be the lunatic fringe (on both side) and those that will always believe the moon landing, 9-11 and the JFK assassination was a CIA job - or some shadowy organization straight from The Black List. Also, it appears this survey was at least partially constructed to reach a desired conclusion. By having a subset of "Those who will NOT be vaccinated" they have ensured they have captured people that may have legitimate concerns about the vax, but they have also captured ALL the conspiracy nut jobs - and then asked them if they believe in conspiracies haha. To @Cornish Steve's question to "how you fix", I think the short answer is you don't. Way to close to 50% of people don't believe anything the current administration says. Of the other 50%, way too many of them didn't believe anything the last administration said. That's a problem. Luckily we have the news media, so you can pick your narrative, and then go the news outlet that supports it. Handy that. I'm not sure what has caused the explosion in autism, but it's pretty horrific. Could it be vaccines we have taken for years? Yeah, I think that could be the culprit. I'm in logistics tho, so that's way out of my field, so who knows. Do I think Covid-19 was exaggerated? Big picture, no. Has it been selectively used for political purposes, finance and sketchy policy based on dubious numbers? Absolutely. "Don't waste a good crisis" Do I think it's being used to micro-chip? Hahaha no! I think there are those would love to do such a thing, but to @Sibdane's point, the NSA, cellphones, big-tech and electronic banking/cards...I am already tracked six ways to Sunday, so is it really needed? I don't trust big money/big government to tell me what's best for my health, life and how I should think, because they are self-serving. I am not sure the Covid vaccines are as needed or effective as advertised. But I think the positives outweigh the negatives (real or perceived) and have things that affect my life a lot more than a damn shot. So I'm fully vaccinated, and am worried about more important things. Like bringing in a RB that can start day 1.

Winner, close the tread!

Bonus, his wife and her horse look good in Blue as well! Good signing all around -
Good analogy. And he's already here in 'Murica with the team I understand. It's 9am, already 85, heading for 95, and the current heat index is 95. Welcome to the South lads!

Pulisic and Zack Steffen are both from PA, so if we can get those Philly kids dribbling the proper kind of ball -
let's face it, this is a zoo that makes us all uneasy and uncomfortable
