Because that's what good Managers do Bill. They don't just get the best out of players, they improve them as footballers. At this moment in time, I'm seeing players under performing. Would it surprise you if a new manager came in and we saw Sigurdsson reproduce his Swansea form? Schneiderlin reproduce last season's form? Keane reproduce Burnley's form? Sandro maybe spark into life? Klaassen even? Granted I'm asking a lot but if we got a new manager in and we got some of those things happening, we would improve immensely. If we go by your quote then we will never improve and we should have just stuck with Koeman.

I like Unsworth as everyone does for obvious reasons. However, I get the feeling if big Sam had managed the last 5 games and we would have had the same performances, he would be getting slated. If you feel we will be finishing top 10, you must rate the squad at his disposal. I know it takes time for a manager to instill his own methods but I would expect better basics from our side. We made Palace look like world beaters that second half and they're bottom of the table, being managed by Roy Hodgson for good measure. So if we are going to finish top 10, we need to improve so drastically that for most, a new manager is what is needed. Those performances will have us fighting for relegation.
I understand your optimism but his numerous formations in 5 games, numerous team selections and simply by not even having Vlasic in the squad is enough for me to say he is not at the level required. Granted he's had tough games, but the performances have been absolutely dreadful. The first 3 games we were diabolical and the last two, we all know how lucky we have been to get something out those games. But Christ, did we need those points!!!

I like Unsworth, Everton through and through, and has achieved amazing things with the youth team. A team he has built and players he has developed from the academy. But I don't think he has the experience and skills to get us out of this position we find ourselves in. He lacks the experience to manage and get the best out of experienced players. In order to get the skills and experience he will need to leave and prove himself as a manager of a Championship or lower Premier League club.
I want Silva, he has got teams like Watford and Hull playing well above the ability of their players. There is something of the Mourinho about him, but without the arrogance. So what if he leaves after 2 or 3 years to manage somewhere else if he gets us into the top 4 by then or establishes us as a top 5 / 6 side challenging for European or domestic trophies.
Hopefully we get Silva by Tuesday, if not I worry for us as we are playing some of the worst football I have seen, and I saw us play under Walter Smith!!

Lets be realistic here. We got back into that game with a huge error by their reserve goalkeeper and we were dreadful for most part of that game. It was a freak game and giving Unsworth credit for that when so many things went in our favour is foolish. His record is 3 losses and a freak win from 4 and apart from effort, I have seen no improvement in our defence or chances created. Everyone says he knows the players and this and that, so he has an advantage but he has played different players and formations every game. And deployed people in several different positions. I think it's a huge gamble for him to get the job until the end of the season. You may as well say to him, we'll let you keep hold of it until the end of the season but if we lose a couple on the spin, were getting Big Sam in. I hope not, but that's likely to happen.

I disagree. Beni being a positive, he looks like he could be a player but he isn't going to be consistently performing at high levels yet. Adding Kevin Mirallas and Aaron Lennon to your team either side of DCL, for me, stinks of a relegation front line. He dragged them off at half time too. The game against Watford was a freak game, penalties missed/given and although I wasn't at the game, I hear the atmosphere in the last half hour made it impossible for those players to not be fired up. I don't think this was anything that Unsworth influenced. Vlasic not playing is scandulous. Sigurdsson on his own up front is laughable and I think I'm right in saying that Sigurdsson has played maybe 3 different positions in his last two games. Against Watford, purely to accommodate Rooney, who shouldnt be starting games for us. There has been more negatives than positives from Unsworth in his 4 games in charge but I dont want this to be about just slating Unsworth - he's been put in a position he can't say no to, and we have no idea how he would cope with what is a very tough job right now. He needs to go and prove himself elsewhere before we know anything about him as a manager. He has zero experience - zero!!!

Big Sam is where we are right now. Our squad is dreadful. First sign of staying up for a team is to get the defence right. Unsworth tried to throw two wingers in away at Leicester and got stuffed. People who say "he had to try something" or "he was bold". Those managers take you down. It's no good being bold and aggressive if you get stuffed and that's what we did. Unsworth has been beaten by Chelsea's kids and smashed by leicester. We still wouldn't have scored if we were still playing now, and that was his attacking team! Big Sam or Dyche would get the back sorted first and that's what we need. It's not a lack of ambition, it's a Billionaire and a Multi Millionaire trying to protect their money. and stay in the league. We'd do the same if it was our money........We wouldnt be gambling on some unknown from overseas.

Based on his first two games, we can see that he is trying to prove a point and for me that's not what we need right now. It's the tried and failed method picking the likes of Lennon,  rather than picking the best players. He has left better players on the bench the last few games. What we need is someone to get the best out of our best players. Not someone who bins them off (Sigurdsson and Schneiderlin 2 perfect examples), and then replaces them with players who aren't good enough. I think we all agree that that starting eleven against Leicester was a relegation team (both on the pitch and on paper) and if that is who he is choosing to get him the job then he is deluded. Kenny shouldn't be playing - Holgate, whatever you think of him, is our most dependable right back now, Schneiderlin has to play, in front of any of the midfield, as does Sigurdsson, Vlasic and probably Lookman. However, looks like he's unearthed a potential gem in Baningame so I'll give him that. He's like a good version of Gueye!
