This. Every player wants to play for their country and the more of our players that are given international recognition the more recognition we get as a club.

They've got as much chance of signing him as we have; very little.

I'm not saying it was just to do with money though, I'm just saying that the money issue isn't rubbish. IMO our crap start and subsequent improvement was down to a number of issues and can't be pinned down to one issue.

No it's not. We didn't need money in October, for example, because the transfer window was closed. We needed it in the summer to bring players in, we needed players but didn't have the money to do anything, which bred discontent.

Even you must realise that's a little bit misleading Jim. We'd just got £10million for AJ, and we hadn't spent a penny since selling Faddy for around £6million. Then you've got to consider that we only paid around £4million for Fellaini last summer. Lets face it, last summer was a farce all-round, Moyes' contract and funds, and hopefully lessons will have been learned.

I'd rather we got Naughton but he wouldn't be a bad alternative at the right price.

Unfortunately they'll be fine, if their owners go into meltdown then someone will come in and buy the club from them quick as anything .

He sounds like a bit of a twat but he's a good player and for that price it's a bit of a steal.

I am fearful of a repeat of last summer tbh, but it's a bit early to be getting overly worried atm. Give it a little time and if we've not made any moves and don't look like we're going to make any then we can hit the panic button. The fact is this summer we need to be very active and sign 5 or 6 players just to have a squad the same size as this season (which was already too small). That's unlikely to happen because we don't have the funds so we'll hopefully get in 2 or 3 quality players and a few fillers. That's my hope anyway. Last summer I was hopeful of us kicking on and it didn't happen and I was left pissed off with everything Everton, so this summer I'm going to try and go with the flow and hope Moyes is banging on the boards door for funds and they can then find said funds.
