  1. Not for one minute am I comparing his ability to that of Juan Mata's but the Spanish play Mata on one side of a midfield 3 with 3 attackers infront.

That's the only place I can see Barkley operate for us. On the right of a flat 3 man midfield with Lukaku on the left of an attacking 3. Keep those 2 as far apart as possible.

With Coleman and a busy body right winger it will cover for Barkley's ambling about and may actually bring something out of him.

Lukaku is bone idle too so having Baines and a left centre mid charging about should keep him covered.

We need a proper mobile number 9 hold up player who can bring others into play.

Barkley and Lukaku can't play together. They're on completely different wavelengths.

Agree 100% except for the bold bit. They are luxury players that a great side will struggle to shoehorn into the same eleven.

  2. Odd call last night, because apparently Koeman isn't one to trust in youth, but throws 19 year old Calvert-Lewin into the mix at the tail end of a derby no less, yet Belgian international and serial derby offender Kevin Mirallas kicked his own heels sat on the bench when he could have been planting Lovren on the pitch instead to insight some shenanigans.

Gamesmanship ladies and gentlemen, the kloppites rolled around and cried and harassed the ref all night long, and eventually started calling the game whereas we didn't get into manipulation and mithering, another late challenge on one of theirs might have been enough to stir the pot, as it stands we've got internationals doing nothing on a regular basis and apparently it's going to take 4 transfer windows to shape the squad.....

Maybe its all 20 20 hindsight, and had the post not fell for them then we'd be ok with a point today but really I'd have liked Mirallas on to snide one of them late on. Give them something proper to cry about.

  3. A decision based not only on how he played but on how the team collapsed without him: McCarthy.

Coleman was excellent, and let's not forget Robles' save. Gueye makes a world of difference, but only McCarthy, single-handedly it seems, could really lift the team as a whole.

Tandem effort for me, denying time and space to the enemy and the other player instantly closing down the pressured pass, not seen a side go to pieces with mistakes like in that first half for a long time.

  4. Hope he's okay. His return has had a huge effect, however I'm really excited to see a besic/gana midfield with besics added quality on the ball.

    Where have you seen this?

So far as McCarthy, his energy alongside Gueye's has given us a new dimension, granted its only been three halves of football so far but we've been night and day in comparrison. Although we are still ponderous with the ball we knocked it around in tight situations and spread the play quickly which is exactly how to get the best out of our fullbacks and in turn create headaches and space for the oppo and our wide players respectively.

  5. Koeman is going to go for a 4-3-3 long term. This is why I think Barkley is struggling for game time and I really can see him moving on.

We could end up with a midfield trio of McCarthy, Gueye and Schneiderlin. I think Koeman prefers traditional midfielders that can defend as well as bomb forward. With these 3 midfielders and Coleman and Baines pushing up there will be 5 in centre of the pitch that, I think, will be extremely difficult to break down. I think that's what Koeman is looking for.

The attacking 3 obviously has Lukaku up front, Bolasie is injured and I'm surprised we went for him because he isn't such a goal threat. Depay is known as a goal scoring winger and if we can get his head right then he could be a success.

We will end up with a bundle of wingers though. I can see Mirallas and Deulofeu being offloaded at some point. Lennon will survive due to his work rate and Koeman's pragmatism.

We still don't have a genuine left footed left mid/winger. I'm not a fan of players cutting in. It can become predictable and you can get caught out badly if a player cuts in and loses possession. With a proper lefty on the left they will play more first time balls more instinctively. Getting the ball moving quicker with less touches will unsettle defenders a lot more.

Potential reason for Stek's recent rush out behaviour? Proving he has the speed to be the sweeper and back his defence?

  6. The only drama with starting Macca and Gana in defensive midfield is there is nobody there with composure, and vision to pick a pass and set the tempo.

They're great when we need to defend our guts out but when we need to control a game we will struggle with that pairing in midfield.

I fully expect Barry to return against the shite.

I expect Barry in at some point just to wallop Milner. #veryleast.

  7. Noseying around the web for opinions from blues it seems a large majority are very keen on Schneiderlin and a smaller majority are on board with trying to get Depay in. I want Schneiderlin and Mario Gomez. Lets say the three work out, would it look like...

    Stek

    Coleman Williams Mori Baines

    Depay Schneiderlin Gueye Bolassie

    Lukaku

    Gomez

I fully understand Bolassie is severely injured and will be out for an extended time.

As a back up eleven we could see

    Hewelt

    Holgate Jagielka Galloway Oviedo

    Lennon McCarthy Barry Mirallas

    Barkley

    Valencia

All a bit football manager granted but what exactly is it the support is yearning for the most? I want a big Pelle type to work Lukaku in, classy aerial operator that'll weigh in with his share. And Schneids would work a treat to pull the quality in the middle up along with having the legs to maintain it.

  8. Maybe with some legs and urgency around him the ethic to bust a gut has been rediscovered. Should be netting 20 league goals a season as a minimum and that's what'll get him his dream move.

Maybe playing upfront with players not instantly being booed by their own fans (Barks) has rubbed a bit of positivity off on him.

Maybe the bright lights of an evening game at home and the crowd demanding grim-steel and loaded-challenges inspired some gusto into the entire eleven.

    Maybe...

  9.

mate we get you don't like Koeman, give him more than 6 months on the job, end of next campaign you can break out the pitchforks but at least give the man 2 campaigns. fickle.

Actually, I don't mind him so far, simply expect more thought to go into his media duties before he opens his yap and either makes a fool of himself, us, or contradicts a previous statement.

Happy to give him plenty of time, as Evertonians we manufacture patience as we've had too, simply put I was dead against clown-shoes and would have put anyone in to get rid of the fool, so acquiring Koeman has been a significant step back towards being a decent side again.

That aside, has his stubborn tactic and selections been a concern? they have to me as its been all too reminiscent of coco and the spiral of foolishness he unleashed upon our club.

  10. Koeman was asked about the young lad promoted to the starting eleven for saints when they easily turned us over about a month or so ago and was very dismissive about being asked about his former job and what he thought when in charge there.

But, hes steered us to beating Arsenal last night and suddenly hes won his last three home games against them (blah blah the referee...)

So Mr Koeman, which is it? Happy to discuss the players and form of southampton whilst you were manager now as everton boss or is it just when your off the back of a massive pressure relieving win aginst whomever.

I have been told repeatedly that apparently clown-shoes wasn't booted out of the door earlier because he was supposedly a likeable chap, respectful and a good communicator with the media which is an appealing characteristic to some of the support.

Where do the support stand regards Koeman's attitude and approach to the media and his interviews on the club/job after 16 league games of his first campaign for us?

  11. He'd have to be Atlas to be able to single handedly shoulder all the pressure the rest of the side cant cope with. Couple that with the possibility every player can have a bad day and suddenly when one of (or both) our two CB's are off the pace of a game the never ending cycle of aerial pressure cannot be fought off.

Been a baptism of fire for Williams and no ones called the fire brigade yet.

  12. Languid

    Fetid

    Cowardly

As for us in the z-cars derby we got ground into dust again by a bigger heavier side. Struggling to compete with the aerial battle and every side knows it - we've been found out like what happened with clown-shoes, krusty called us phenomenal, Koeman has acknowledged our physical weakness so lets see him at least attempt to fix it, clown-shoes had us repeating the mistake (crab-ball-itis) so nows the time to change it up, anything is better than prolonging the losing streak.

  13. Koeman has pointed out that this side is weak and not up to the direct nature and physicality of the league and that we dont apply pressure and win the second balls....

If this was such a concern who were we linked with in the summer to address this glaring problem? Sissoko, Gabbiadini, Witsel....?

Gueye aint winning us many headers fighting for the long punts from either keeper, Barry doesn't have the speed to get into the aerial battle, so now we're linked with Mata Depay and Schneiderlin, the first two wont be contesting many headers, we've assembled a team of short arses and we kee being ground into pulp by larger heavier sides, I'm not suggesting we become a Stoke side but we have to find a balance that allows us to at least compete.

Lukaku will thrive off a classy target man - Mario Gomez is that signing.

Schneiderlin would be an upgrade on McCarthy, can we push Gueye forward to fit another DCM in?

Koeman didn't make this mess, it's clown-shoes legacy but it's Koemans watch now and the pressure is on, we were a disgrace when clown-shoes was phenomenalling us weekly to loss after loss - I wonder now if some of the players have it in them to pick themselves up, or if the mental scars, the post traumatic clown-stress disorder has tainted them long term. We're shockingly bad, and the average sides in the league are giving us a stuffing and we got trounced by one of the best sides in the league 5-0, theres no such thing as too good to go down, we need a bit of character, some chemistry, change!

Team of short arses living off of faded memories of a clowns phenominal first 80% of a season and a couple of cup semi finals. Hating the experience and have been hating it more and more to a critical mass for months leading to years. Demanded honesty from clown-shoes, demand the same from Koeman, lets hear how bad it really is, point the finger, name the names, pay off and move on the abject failures, too many feint hearts not enough dogs of war.

  14. Toe to toe with these knuckle dragging misfits, imagine a worse incarnation of a Pulis Stoke, thats Watford, we have the notable talent on the flanks and can snuff out the middle, so keep it clean until they turn it nasty (25 minute mark or so) then chuck a couple of nasties in of our own, blood, guts, tears, revenge, you know - everything the support has been lusting after having witnessed so many belly-ups.

These pretenders can be got at, don't get me wrong, play their game and chance it or easily out-finesse them, when they know thats it they'll kick - so kick back fucking harder.

Annihilate these blues, make no mistake, time to show the chelsea abortion isn't sitting easy.
