I'm pretty sure it's a signing for depth, rather than a replacement for Alonso. They've got Champions League again this season and I'm pretty sure Alonso is just about their only left footed full-back (apart from 1 or 2 youngsters, but when do Chelsea give them a go? )

They're not spending 60 million on Alex Sandro for depth, and he's not being signed for depth, he'll be the clear starter if they pry him from Juve.

I'm not convinced any of the names mentioned above have the goal scoring nous, proven track record, hunger to score, sheer power, and dare I say impressive touch of Rom. It would be great to see more goals scored by the rest of the team - this is a bit of a weakness right now - but a striker like Rom strikes fear into the heart of any opposition. He was clearly a major factor in Everton finishing ahead of the chasing pack this past season.

Yep, not like 20 goal per season strikers grow on trees... heck look at Belotti, first time he's scored over 20 goals a season and all of a sudden he's a superstar striker worth 80m.... foh, he's a one season wonder at this stage.

And if say the Sandro signing pays off big time and he's a 15+ goal inside forward... how long until he asks for a move to A.Madrid which is where he wanted to go in the first place.

People forget before Chelsea's 3-0 start to the season there was a lot of talk about Conte not being happy with the transfer they brought in.... and having to settle for lesser targets.... the obvious one was getting Mitchy instead of Rom...

Ive been told today that it's a done deal to Spurs for £30m - he's gone. Also Eric Dier is a done deal to Manchester United. That's from an ex Everton player but said Everton player is known to talk crap at times. He's closer than any of us to the club though.

For the same sort of money I'd take either of them two over Rom, and I'm a big fan of his.
