  1. I have been waiting to see a left back being signed as a cover for Baines, (meaning lescott sale to be done) may be too raw for that now though, but who knows. If we start making £10m signings next then bet bottom dollar Joleon is off. Must admit, pleasing to be linked with players of great potential, we need great current players too.
  2. The fact that we are trying to talk up some optimism about him joining goes to show his fall. 9 years ago we would have been delighted at getting him for £10m, now we are humming and arrrrghhhing over a free transfer
  3. Selling another home grown player to that lot is a big no no. It still hurts to see Rooney play for the mancs, however another player with unknown potential is a disaster waiting to happen, he could be the next Gerrard, such is his athleticism and engine, someone who can play centre half or midfield, to even contemplate this is just a joke. If we want to be a top 4 club, we need to keep our future stars, Lescott may not get much better and we know what we need to replace in Joleon, but when you don't know how good a player will be how do you priuce that? He could be a £100m player in 6 years - may be unlikely but the posibility is there with him more than any other player at the club.
  4. The club have not officially made bids for anyone - although I think our free transfers (owen and Pennant) are probably in place, I am assuming we are in the stages of establishing the players we need and how much we will need to pay to get them. There is also the tactic of how to go about getting our players in if we are to sell Joleon - personally if we announce the sale of Joleon and then bid for players then we will be in big trouble as there will be a £3m premium added to any buys and any benefit of selling Lescott to stregthen squad will be far less. Personally I want us to get Fabian from Leeds, not fussed on M'Bia at £10m considering he sounds like a mercenary already. Wouldn't mind Michael Bradley, get Kyle Naughton and if poss, Moutinho. As said above, July 1st is when it kicks off so let's sit tight. Kenwright and co would be very foolish to allow a similar situation to last year to happen and I would be surprised if Moyes top targets were not achieved. Striker wise, I am not sure who we can or should get.
  5. something on Bluekipper indicates that this one looks like happening, I like the look of him to be honest. We seem to be on course to getting a good young squad together, Rodwell, Gosling, Baines, Baxter are potential England regulars in my opinion. Adding Delph would be a major plus for us, got a good feeling about this one.
  6. We will turn him to top player,
  7. I think it's time for a Moyes special, season long loan 75% wages, £4m if we want to keep him. If he regains what he was, then he's a £10-£15m pound player - was certainly a big fixture in Arsenals unbeaten season, way I look at it, pay the wages that we had on VDM - nothing to lose!
  8. To be honest a £25m deal would be my price. Reason being, we would need to sign a versatile international level CB/LB to replace him which is unlikely The one reason I would look to sell is that we have been lucky that his knees have held up, what if he gets a knee injury? If we get the right price on Richards, and he can get reduce the size of his head and start listening we may have a potential replacement. In effect Joleon in exchange for: Moutinho, Bale, Richards would be ok with me.
  9. yep just seen it announced as untrue by the same news agency that broke the news. Gutted!!!
  10. I would love Owen to prove me wrong, however watching the game so long and comparing him now to the player he was is scary, no pace, no left foot, quicker stronger defenders have totally taken away everything he had to offer. Louis Saha although injury prone is still a great athlete on his game, with two great feet, good in the air and can hold ball up.
  11. if the mancs will pay £9m now then given their level of scouting etc it's reinforcing many opinions that the lad is going to be world class. You can not sell potential, it worked well with jeffers but now, no way. Keep him. Sell joleon for £20m, buy a couple of midfielders and a right back, leave this lad alone. Why do we need to sell to the Mancs??? If we want to win the league at some stage, why sell our best.
  12. Everton let Don down big time, great player for us, we had Campbell on 35k a week, he was player of the year and lost him because we had him on about 15k a week and he wanted a few bob more. Lost a player in his prime for buttons when we were over paying injury prone others
  13. If I remember right, Newcastle never had a chance of signing him, his rat of an agent had links with Newcasatle and influenced the initial bid to draw Man Utd in a year before they were intending to sign him. As much as I hate Newcastle, they prob did us a favour in getting cash in. But yeah, would have him back if he does a little bit more grovelling............
  14. He has as much as admitted he is an Evertonian and I feel he has realised how he went about things was wrong. I believe he will one day play for us purely to try and right the wrong. Looking at another 6 years though. I don't think he will be totally forgiven, but I think some fans may understand how young he was and had his head turned. Let's face it, we sold him, we were skint and would have gone under without the money. His behavior against us has left alot to be desired though.
  15. To be honest I had raised eye brows for quite some time with my criticism of him, I never seen him as being strong enough to compete with centre halves who are now quick enough to neutralise his pace and use their bodies against him. Against skyrtle in the zenit game, he looked like a boy. Great trier but alas not top standard, always preffered Vaughan over him when fit.
  16. Moyes must be playing FM 2009 using the old database, in all honesty this lad looks very good from what i've seen on Youtube, plus there is a good report from Steve Claridge here...... http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2008/...p;feed=football
  17. Be very very surprised, more likely his agent using our name to drum up interest. 29?! No chance, especially at that price.
  18. we would be "expected" to sell for £6m-£8m otherwise teams would say thanks but no thanks. In realism it would be daft, a player that can operate on the left flank who has a good understanding with Baines - why sell? He is far better than downing who is rated £12m?! Just sign him up for 5 years and be done with it. Great player, great attitude, unfashionable at the moment - his true value is £12-£15m imo.
  19. Friend of mine is big city fan, says Richards is a disgrace and is not the player people outside of city think he is. Add to that a bad attitude and it's a no from me. If they want Lescott £20m, straight cash, - get our buys first though so we don't pay premiums and use lescott money as an I.O.U....
  20. Saha included, buying injury prone players is not the right way forward for Everton. Who knows what we could have achieved this season without injuries, we don't have the resources to pay £50k a week to a 'free' gamble. Saha has been an ok buy, he has scored a handful of vital goals and if that's as pay as you play then an even better buy. I honestly believe that Owen would struggle in a championship side nowadays as his lack of pace and power would stand out and he would be bullied out of games. Owen dropping deeper only goes to show that he can no longer play on the centre halves shoulders hoping for a through ball. If we want a deep striker then we have plenty of options with Osman, Cahill, Fellaini. Bringing a big name in who may not add to the quality of the squad may only push some noses out of place. If we are going to give a chance to player who needs to overcome injuries and show his class, then that man has to be James Vaughan. Yak is number 1, and he needs someone to compliment him. Money involved (up to £8m), my choice would be Crouch, I think he would compliment Yak perfectly, can hold the ball up, takes defenders with him, is tidy on the deck and is an option in the air (given his improvement in this department)
  21. Signing Owen would be like getting a Sierra Cosworth, in it's day a great looking car. Problem is , buy one now - even for peanuts, it looks dated, not as quick, expensive to run, supseptible bodywork, and all your mates who used to have one would laugh - especially when they have a porsche like Torres in the garage. Everton had become somewhat of an Elephants grave yard (Hughes, Ginola, Gascoigne) - I thought we were getting away from that. Why not go for a young lad with shear pace and strength (the football manager database will help) - would Wenger sign Owen? No. He would do his usual and buy a player with the raw attributes that he could mould. Football has moved on alot since Owen was prolific, forwards do a lot more for the team and have a wider variety of attributes and all round play, how does Owen's game compare to a Samuel Eto, Torres, Rooney, Aguero, Henry, Drogba, Anelka, Adebuyor, Pato, the list goes on. Forward players nowadays need to be not just pacey but strong, good in the air because centre halves have become far more athletic. I would sooner have Nugent than Owen, at least his heart would be in it, plus he can hold the ball up. Ebanks blake? These lads deserve a chance, lets face it, Owen has never been the same player he was in 98/99, without his pace, he relies on clever movement, and to be perfectly honest he is a six yard box merchant as his distance finishing is poor. A player who has sporting commitments outside of football (horse racing) is not hungry enough to play for this club.
  22. Just picking up on the Kings dock, I think we would have 'generated' more fans, added to the fact that the stadium would be more accessible for existing fans. There is alot of Kudos created getting a new stadium which does strangely enough influence people to go to the match. Look at Arsenal, they had a tight old stadium with less or similar capacity to us and similar attendances (not always sell outs). They get a new stadium in a fashionable part of islington, now all the fans who wouldn't be seen going to highbury are enjoying a nice day out at the emirates (pretty much like the new age of Chelsea fans who had never seen a match till Chelsea became 'rich' and trendy)
  23. I know we blame the euro ban on our club not progressing at a rate that would 'probably' have seen us sitting pretty financially for many years, but we didn't half miss a trick in not getting Kings dock. That would have made us an extremely attractive club for investors and transfers funds would have been aplenty. Oh well eh.
  24. The whole point in not signing him is that he isn't fit or hungry anymore and his fitness will never be as sharp as it was, his main goal was to beat Charltons England goalscoring record - now that capello appears not to rate him, my feeling is that he will pursue horse racing full time. Signing a player whose reputation exceeds ability is not a good move.
  25. Baines will make world cup squad, BTW weakest forward line I have ever seen bar Rooney. Vaughan give him a run of fitness and games could break that
