  1. News from the appearance at the Globe in Chicago: From Moyes: "Expect to bring in 4 or 5 players" "I believe Manuel Fernandes is a Valencia player" "Waiting to sign my contract until a few things are made clear" "Yeah I think Andy [VDM] is injured again" "The move to Fulham was Aj's choice" and when questioned about Aj's transfer "You can either trust me or not" - These are obviously my (influenced by cheap Chang) interpretations of what he said, but I think they are fairly accurate. Good news overall I think, shame that Fernandes seems out of the loop. No news on Moutinho or any other definite targets. Cahill, Howard, Ossie and Vaughan appeared with him, all were in very good spirits. According to Moyes, Vaughan may feature tomorrow or this weekend. Cahill expected by third week of the league.
  2. Just a little more info from the The Globe as to who might be at the meet and greet. "The Gaffer, Howard, Cahill, Neville and a couple more, please don't quote me on this as it came directly from the Everton front office and we all know what that could mean." Says to be there by 4 as they expect to be at full capacity.
  3. Fee agreed according to OS http://evertonfc.com/news/archive/blues-accept-aj-offer.html
  4. I do think it's early to be going off the handle on this. Moyes has stated that he wants to bring in 5 or 6 so let's give him the time to do it. Can't disagree with the business though, I think we're moving him on at just the right time for us. Bit ruthless I suppose, but that's perhaps something we need to be better at.
  5. Well if we just up and offered that they'd think we're willing to pay more.
  6. I have to think I'd much rather have had Jo for 18 million than Vagner Love for 20. Don't see it happening though, if we wanted to spend that much money on a player from Russia I'd think Arshavin would be a better bet.
  7. If we were able to take him for virtually nothing, including low wages, then a 6 month loan deal would be just fine. Give us a chance to see what our squad looks like and then we he gets injured we can ship him back. However, based on his earrings, I'm sure he's on a massive wage that Utd will have no interest in paying for us or anyone else.
  8. Yes, I don't suspect we'll see any real activity until this is resolved
  9. BBC's reporting decision next week. Is that not true?
  10. Five or six players... One of whom would cost nearly 20 million. Assuming he thrashes out another loan move for Many and brings in Mbia for 4 million. Well that still leaves at least two more incoming, which would surely put us close to, if not over 30 million in spending this summer. From my piss poor understanding of our finances, we can't do that. Not without the money to be freed up by Kirkby anyways. Either that or another sneaky Russian investor. Bringing in players in this quantity and of this quality sounds great, but I'd sure hope we can get some details on where the money is coming from, and how we're supposed to pay for this. Another 30 million in debt spent on players would seem very risky. Maybe Kenwright should start playing the lotto.
  11. No from me as well. How many games did he play last year? Not many.
  12. Well if we felt that Cahill, Aj and Vaughan were all going to be fit for the whole season I don't think there would be any worry. Unfortunately that seems far from certain leaving the Yak as our only polished, reliable goal scorer. Not enough for a top club, imho. After the joke of playing Lescott up front at the end of last season I can't really see Moyes choosing to go into this season without some more striking prowess. Now, if he hasn't got the money for it, well, that's another thing entirely.
  13. I thought there was another discussion on this but I wasn't able to find it, so if a moderator wants to move this to the correct place, please do. -- Just got my tickets to the Everton Fire game on July 30 at Toyota. Can't wait for it really, hope Everton brings a strong squad. Maybe even Van Der Meyde!!!! Kidding aside, who will be going from here? I've got my seats in section 107, I think, right near half. Now I'm just waiting for details on the bus service to the game. (The drive from Chicago to Toyota Park is 15 miles through Chicago rush hour with no good public transit system) Also, if you'll be in Chicago on the 29th the Globe Pub on Irving Park at Damen is supposed to be having a meet and greet with some of the players: http://www.theglobepub.com/events.shtml#everton Hope to see some of you out for this
  14. I would guess that Engelaar would not break the bank, so if Moyes can't get the money or the man he wants Engelaar may be a decent stop gap.
  15. While it may be good for us if he looks well off the pace tonight, I don't think it would be good for the tournament. I think Russia against the Netherlands would be a much more interesting quarterfinal as both teams like to play attacking football. But I do wish we'd signed him much earlier. I imagine he would have been available for 8 or so before the UEFA cup final and now is probably at least 10. We knew his qualities months ago so I wonder if it isn't a wage issue.
  16. How's that? Something in his contract or is this something his agent is saying?
  17. Is this linked or rumoured anywhere else? Seems a bit of a joke tbh.
  18. I believe the deal on the loan would have been a purchase at around 12. 5 or 6 wouldn't be a gamble, it'd be a steal. If Valencia were willing to take that I'm sure he'd be signed by now. I suspect they'll take something between 8 and 10, which may be a gamble. Since we don't really know what DM's other options are it's hard to say whether ti'd be money well spent, but I for one think Fernandes will come good if he can just get into a stable side.
  19. Do we really think he'd want to come back after we released him?
  20. With this season in hindsight I can't believe we were offered 15M for AJ and didn't take it. Doh!
  21. My understanding is that it is no problem to sign these 3rd party players IF you buy out their contract in its entirety. The thing that isn't allowed in the English game is to have joint ownership. So we couldn't, without special dispensation, purchase 50% of Jo's ownership with KIA owning the other 50%. West Ham are apparently (rummours) interested in shipping out Ashton to bring in AJ. Madness if you ask me, but if he would go to West Ham I'm sure we'd pocket close to 10M for him.
  22. I think if we could get the following players in we'd be very solid throughout the team: Fernandes (either a year long loan or signed) Arshavin Bradley Sidwell (or someone similar) A winger (Joaquin's been mentioned though I'm not too familar with him) I think for next year we can skate by with Pip and Hibbo at RB and that we can look to that position a bit later (unless something perfect pops up) Assuming we don't lose any of our regulars besides Cars I think that might give us the ability to at least get a couple wins off the top four. That being said we might still need one more top class striker, especially if Vaughan won't be able to stay fit.
  23. Robben and Schneider too. Guti plays out there at times as well
