  1. Thats right, in two or three games time the 'high' of all the money and new players will have gone, and playing them would be fine.

But we end up playing them away when all there player will be chomping at the bit to play and make a impact with the manager.

A win against Portsmouth this weekend would be a very good result now.

  2. I have thought that Davies has looked a lot better of late than the first few months at the club. But his own admission he does take a while to settle in to new surroundings .

I think I have said before, that his not an out and out winger anyhow, more a right sided midfeilder.

I actually think Davies is a good player, who is not yet on top of his game for Everton. He isn't a eye catching type player I will agree, but does a good job for the team. He is one player who in my opinion is suffering because of the general nervouness the team has suffered overall this season.

Verdict - Not bad, but not great - more to come from him I am sure.

  3. I think Real discovered he wasn't really the player that took to the pitch for us between August '04 and January '05.

He REALLY wants to go to MAN U.

Don't see that he would take either Cahills or Arteta place in the starting 11

He is now on huge wages.

He doesn't REALLY want to come back to Goodison.

Don't forget if we hadn't sold him to Real in January - he would have walked for nothing this summer. We have basically had Arteta in his place fees wise. Which suits me. Would you swop the two of them now?????

He had a decent 6 months last season - But don't put him on a pedestool he doesn't really deserve to be on.

  4. Come on get real - the top clubs have no problem attracting players and have the finances to back it all up.

We neither have the credibility yet or the finances to pay top players or draw the cream of young players to our club.

Look at the likes of this Theo Walcott - in days gone by he would come to clubs like our as a potential stepping stone. We have had this discussion before (SWP) they now get bought up straight away buy the big guns and are happy to sit on benchs - gotta be at a club who win and pay big money now a days.

In January a lot of the other player who move are usually not part of their current clubs plans - i.e not good enough.

Yes, I would like to see a couple of new faces, but if it is only rubbish that are willing to come here this time of year - I would rather do with out.

Based on the current club profile - to get really good players we would have to throw money at them. Although, I would say the clubs profile over the last 18 months is as good as its ever been in the Prem.

You don't just buy sh1t for the sake of buying it. We have see enough money wasted on that over the past 10 years.

  5. I don't know if he was a real target. I think Niemi had a great season for Southampton the year they got to the cup final - But other than that I don't really think is all that to be honest. There has been very little real interest in the player considering the likes of Man U and Arsenal have been desperate for keepers over some periods of the last 12 months.

I don't think we were ever in for him to be honest.

I think playing Portsmouth away this weekend is probabley the worst time to play them all season.

A couple of weeks ago they didn't have a lot to shout about - Now they are fairly bussy in the transfer market with few bob behind them.

Think the players will be looking forward to getting out on the pitch against us.

Bad luck the timing of this fixture - I think a point would be a decent return now, all things considered.

    1-1 Beattie for us.

  7. I don't know, I think we have tried to sign a few more players than some of us have given the management credit for.

Not really there fault if some one like the skunks nip in and offer a shed load more wages - We are not finacially able to compeate -

Mark my words if Newcastle continue to spend in the fasshion they have been and don't get a sniff of CL football (which looks no nearer than 12 months ago) they WILL be the next Leeds Utd.

I wouldn't be suprised if shepards ar*e is starting to twitch a bit when he looks at the books. There are a lot of players on big money at that club. Can they risk bringing another in?

If Anelka goes to the Toon, they HAVE to give him very good money just to be on par with the rest of the squad.

  8. To be honest if Anelka does sign for us either permentely or on loan, I would say it would be a bit of a coup for us. I would never have expected us to sign a player of his caliber this january to be honest.

You look at all the deals that have been done so far this transfer window and nothing sticks out as a bit of business I wish we had done.

Still a long way to go, but I have my fingers crossed for the deal coming off, because I think he is a great player to have in the team and signing players like him WOULD show progress.

  9. Bellamey's a prick as well - but I wish we had him in our frontline about now.

I don't care if Anelka comes for 18months scores plenty of goals then moves on to be honest. I just want somebody with pace and can score goals. F8ck it at this moment someone doing it for the rest of this season only would do me right now.

If we got him for aroubd £5m and he only hung around for a year we would lose very little money on him. He is a class player to be honest

  10. I hope he is coming - as he is still only young, has proven Prem ability and is very fast - which is something we need if only to streach opposition defences.

At present all teams know we have very little pace going forward so can 'squeeze' us up the park. With Anelka in our front line they would have to defend a little deeper-giving out team more time on the ball and space to go forward. A pacy Anelka and a strong Beattie would be a good combinnation up front for us.

Anelka has lived in the area before (Liverpool/Manchester) so settling in should not be a big issue with him.

  11. Out of interest - Anelka's stats for discussion

    A G

    Paris Saint-Germain 1995-1997 2000-2001 67 12

    Arsenal 1997 1999 76 25

    Real Madrid 1999 2000 19 2

    Liverpool (Loan) 2001 2002 22 5

    Manchester City 2002 2005 103 46

    Fenerbahce 2005 Now 35 10

    Total Goal - 100 in 322 appearences

He is only 26 so his first stint in PSG was as a 16-18 year old and don't think he scored many in the first 2 years. Also his load of sub appearences at Real Madrid also skew the stats a little

  12. I think the only money available to Moyes is possibiley that which may be earmarked for summer transfer -

In real terms there is no money available this window - but you could always break in to next summers budget if a player Moyes would be looking to bring to Goodison next summer is available now.

That's the only sence I can make of not having any money and then saying we are interested in Anelka.

i.e the club won't part with say £3M for Earnshaw now and Anelka, Johnson or Keane in the summer for say £5M.

God, I would love to be privy to all the ins and outs of this transfer goings on. :)

  13. http://www.sportinglife.com/football/premi...on&PREV_SEASON=

I have to say I was a big fan of his before he moved to West Brom - But he doesn't seem to get a look in. I am not to sure now - is it becasue he not up to the Prem.

Thing is he scores 14 goals last season and a lot of the time was on the subs bench - At this moment in time I would be happy to have a player getting 14 goals for us.

I am not convinced he would be the right option - especially if WBA want £3M back for him - I would cheer him on if he did come to Goodison, but I think I would rather Moyes take a £2M punt on Cameron Jerome. I hear he had a good game against Arsenal - and give their back four a hard time for 90 mins.
