  1. Howard - 6. Made a good save, could do nothing for the goal.

Hibbert - 5. Was at fault for the goal clearly, but did do some good tackles and crosses also. But out of depth.

Distin - 6. Quiet but solid, great block near the end.

Yobo - 7. Good today, but still does silly mistakes.

Baines - 6. Fault he was poor by his standards, but good pen.

Osman - 0. Who? Was he playing?

Neville - 5. Also out of depth in midfield, poor touch and awareness, needs to be right back or bench.

Rodwell - 9. Outstanding, controlled the middle with drive and focus. Future captain.

Pienaar - 8. Another industrious performance, get a contract for him NOW!

Cahill - 6. Hustled but not really there today.

Saha - 7. A constant threat, hail King Louis!

Felliani - 6. Nice touches and inter play, but he seems so slow.

Jo - 5. I like him and he won the penalty, but the two missed chances is making it harder for me to back him. He needs a goal but hasn't time on his side.

  2. So like I said, in your book it's OK (in fact heroic) to be a thug if you're a loyal Evertonian thug. If you're not a loyal Evertonian you're a bad example to youngsters and deserve what you get.

That's what I thought you meant. You're entitled to the opinion, I just don't agree with it.

That's funny that is, as I never said or meant that. Shearer was far worse than Dunc, Gazza personal life, Gerrard on and off field antics, Maradona, etc etc. All have checkered histories, yet are heroes to many. Thuggery is unacceptable, but neither is corruption, lying, binge drinking, rape, murder, etc. Many things some find ok because they want do it, anyway that's another debate. I respect Dunc for this effect and love of the club, not the crimes he committed, except when two burglars tried to burgle his home!

  3. Just interested to know though how you (and others) can glamorise, lionise and hero worship this..

But when Jeffers put's the head in, you say..

I'm guessing it's OK to be violent on the pitch if you say and do the right things off it.

Jeffers never had the club at heart, nor did he give just service to it. When Moyes brought him back on loan, he didn't score a goal and then kicked off with Moyes, apparently because he was subbed. Hence why now in the twilight of his career I have no sympathy for him.

  4. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/everton/6111256/Evertons-David-Moyes-to-demand-more-transfer-funds.html

'"We have finished fifth two years in a row. I might be at a different level to other clubs, but we have to be able to reinvest and go back into the market.' Quote from Sky news, David Moyes.

I've said many times now Kenwright hasn't done what is required to help Everton and Moyes to succeed, now is the time to reserve that. Nobody is saying bankrupt the club, but this time at this very moment release funds for Moyes to push the team forward. I truly believe this is the point that will not only define our season, but may see Moyes stay or go depending on the outcome.

    Watch this space!

  5. There are some simply silly responses to this post, MikeO in particular hasn't cover himself in glory (well he may have done but that's his personal affair). A hero is somebody/thing that inspires an individual/people, hence people's heroes are purely down to personal preference. Ferguson was a hero to many (including me), not for necessarily his on field ability but his character and undying love for the club. In a age where loyalty counts for nothing, Ferguson made it publicly known he was sold under duress and come back the first chance he could. If we look at dear Mr Lescott/Rooney/Jeffers/Barmby et all, then you'll see what I'm driving at.

Ferguson is a true Evertonian, an outsider who fell in love with the club an still loves it to this day. An icon who give 110% to the cause, which the fans took to especially in the dark days of Walter Smith. A family man who returns often to the club, is well known and loved by many in the local area, and even was part of the KEIOC officially.

My era wasn't Duncan Ferguson, I said before it was Bob Latchford's, but the reasons presented are why 'The Big Yin' is an Everton legend to me and countless others.

  6. Someone is sayin on NSNO that the deal is off and Banega is lookin highly unlikely too

Really wanted him too........must have been wages

I wouldn't believe that website, they are mostly inbred hicks who haven't a clue. Bangera was never going to happen though granted.

  7. My God you still dont get it!

What the flying flock has buying Heitinga got to do with signing Distin??

DISTIN IS A LEFT FOOTED CB WHO CAN COVER AS A LB

None of the other players weve been linked with, includig Heitinga are left footed nor can they play left back

WE NEEDED COVER AT LEFT BACK

DISTIN CAN PLAY LEFT SIDE OF CB PAIRING

Now for the big clue NOBODY ELSE WAS AVAILABLE THAT FITS THAT CRITERIA THAT WAS WITHIN OUR PRICE RANGE !!!!

    Hope this helps!

    Lol!

  8.

Papers are saying that Heitinga's wages might be a problem - well if he's only costing £5m, surely we could offer him a lump sum golden hello (£1m up front, say) to seal the deal. It would still mean we've managed to sign two class defenders for half what we got for Lescott, plus an exciting left winger. You gotta say, selling your best players is never ideal, but if you look at it like that we're a stronger team for it

Everton have a rigid pay structure, so unless he gets heavy bonuses then effectively he will have to take a pay cut. But yes, if the club pulls it off then we would be far stronger than before.

  9. 1) Why did Moyes bash Citeh for not offering more money, when he said Lescott was not for sale?

he wasnt for sale, but every player has their price.

    2) Where is the money generally at the club, who does what with it? Including Sky dosh, previous sales, money we owe for transfers etc.

since bill took over, and especially while wyness was at the club, the debts have been increased therefore higher payments. not a great situation to be in, but until BK actaully WANTS to SELL the club we'll be stuck with it.

    3) Investment so we will be a position of strength every summer?

who is going to invest in BK? if you had billions would you invest your money in a football club run by someone you dont know? the only way out of the lack of funding is to sell. but have you ever heard BK say he wants to sell the club? no. he says he is constantly searching for investment. he does not say the club is for sale. he says if there was a billionaire out there id get him, but there isnt one. hmm, no billionaires out there looking for football clubs? haha i'll believe that when small clubs like QPR and Pompy cant find buyers.

Very valid points, thanks Steve. Interesting, as it's true that it's unrealistic for Kenwright to think a billionaire will invest while he/she doesn't owe the club.
